Basically take inspiration. Got it I already knew that
do you have any advice on drawing animatronics or just animals in general?? i’m fr struggling over here 😔🤙
mood..... ill get the hurrr use references hurrr practice aka the advice that is very true but around 70% of people who say that to people who ask for tips probably just arent sure what else to say because theyre not good at giving advice but they also dont want to ignore the question /j thing out of the way because its the best way you can get better..... BUT some Advice thats actually helpful for drawing Anything, really (imo at least bc it helped me) is to imitate other artists. copying is looked down upon, and im not saying to just completely “copy” someone’s art style and concepts and shit, but imitating the way other artists draw things that you struggle with can really REALLY help. For Example, i used to struggle with muzzles SO MUCH (especially from the front) but after imitating how artists/cartoons i liked drew muzzles, i figured it out and dont struggle with it as much, if at all
and idk what style you want to go for with the animatronics, like if you want them to be fnaf-styled (clearly visible joints/internals) or real-life styled, but looking at real-life animatronics can really help!! i used to Not do that because ive always been super lazy about looking at references, but once i started i felt my third eye open GHJKHFJK
id say an Important thing to follow is to take the Internals/endoskeleton into account. most animatronics are stylized and cartoon-y, but they still make sure to not design their features to be too exaggerated as to not fuck with their movement!! this is just if you want them to be “accurate” to real life though, you can draw them however you want!! i dont even fully follow the endoskeleton, but i try not to exaggerate their features too much so it doesnt seem impossible for them to move as they do (which is already impossible for 80s-90s animatronics but you get what i mean SHKJSHK)
