I think I finally know why Mysterio is so entertaining to me as a villain
It's not just the drama, the costume, the over-the-top theatrics... even though that obviously helps a LOT, along with the gorgeous visual effects (him being riddiculously attractive is also a plus, ngl) ... BUT.
What really appeals to me is that he's unabashedly & unironically ... an absolute fucking asshole. He's just a villain. No noble motives to see, no sirree!
Murdering children? Fooling 7 billion people & killing innocent bystanders just to look like a hero? No problem! Low-key keeping his co-conspirators hostage once he gets the opportunity to use lethal force? Sure, dude! Let's kill a shitton of people and mentally scarr a poor traumatised kid for life! Sounds alright, doesn't it?
Tony named a piece of tech that ALREADY BELONGED TO HIM & HIS COMPANY something that Quentin Beck didn't like? And Beck didn't get sole credit for the invention, on which he no doubt worked with a team of other specialists? Oh OF COURSE, let's kill some kids to get back at a dead man! Completely rational course of action! Not at all something an unstable person would do.
Beck is just bad. There's no speculation about it. No morally grey area to discuss, no way to justify his actions.
And that makes me so goshdarn HAPPY.
I really don't think we've had such a casually morally corrupt villain in the mcu yet. Hela seemed to enjoy the destruction she caused too much for that. Thanos was too obsessed with his "noble" quest. Loki was objectivelly too sympathetic. Vulture was just doing what he hoped would keep his business going strong. But Mysterio? Casual evil.
He doesn't really see anything abhorrent about the stuff he does. It's natural for him. He just acts in his own best interests and any casualties are simply unfortunate side-effects.
Casual evil.
Both terrifying and unbelievably fun to watch.

Am I the only person that highly doubts that Mysterio is dead?
Like something about the timeline of that video + his nondescript backup plan + some of the things he said leading up to his death + Edith's choice of words go in way too many directions and are way too vague to be taken at face value.
I wouldn't be surprised if they left it just vague enough to where they can bring him back. Just in case.
Wouldn't be surprised if Marvel pulls a, "Oh shit bullet proof vest!" Sometime in the future.
