the “bella is a boring and lifeless character/kristen stewart is a bad actress because she didn’t exhibit any emotion during new moon” narrative is extremely neurotypical as if people don’t compartmentalize and disassociate to protect themselves from trauma not all grief is screaming and crying movies about men with ptsd who shut down after a traumatic event are lauded and universally praised for their accurate depictions of mental health but when y’all are given a pitch-perfect depiction of ptsd in a teenage girl y’all drag it through the coals and call her lifeless your biases against woman and their mental health are showing

we can all say WHATEVER we want about how bad twilight is in terms of writing but there is NOTHING funnier than finally understanding how absolutely perfectly edward and bella are written as two teenagers in their first relationship. fuckin. idc if edwards a hundred and fifty or not hes still seventeen, embarrassed at how strongly his parents react to him bringing a girl home for the first time, practically dying of embarrassment at alice his gay sister trying to steal his girlfriend out from under him, showing bella his room and being shy about his music taste because he KNOWS hes fucking weird and bella awkwardly trying to relieve that shyness by Almost relating to it. "edward doesnt live . . . in town" to hide the fact that she was specifically Not talking abt her new bf to her dad. it's entirely fucking stupid and its fantastic.

we give eddie a lot of hassle for being super emo as if rose’s “if we had happy endings we would all be under gravestones now” couldn’t literally be a line from a my chemical romance song
