How can we collaborate and make sense with nonhumans, such as algorithms in AI media synthesis, to develop our creative practices while maintaining their situatedness? How could this more-than-human sensemaking look, smell, sound, taste, feel like?

DESIGNING IN COEXISTENCE – REFLECTIONS ON SYSTEMIC CHANGE ∞ PANEL AT 18th VENICE ARCHITECTURE BIENNALE

Panel discussion & book launch organised as part of Croatia’s participation in the 18th Venice Biennale – International Architecture Exhibition.

The event program includes a conversation with Mia Roth and Tonči Čerina (curators of the Croatian performance), the leaders of the workshop held in Lonja Wetlands, Markéta Dolejšová and Jaz Hee-jeong Choi (members of the Open Forest Collective) and one of the authors of the texts in the book, Michael Smyth (Edinburgh Napier University). The conversation will be moderated by Ivica Mitrović (curator of the Pavilion’s discursive program).

MORE-THAN-HUMAN KNOWLEDGE AND DATA IN ARTISTIC & PRACTICE-BASED RESEARCH

The distributed keynote lecture at the Uroboros 2023 festival invited four practice-based researchers to share their experiences with co-creating and relating to more-than-human knowledge and data.

Coming from various areas of creative inquiry – including art, interaction design, and HCI – the four keynote speakers Jaz Hee-jeong Choi, Tereza Stehlíková, Marie Louise Juul Søndergaard, and Simone C. Niquille discussed their creative ways of making sense with more-than-human creatures, materials, and instruments.

UROBOROS 2023: FERAL BODIES, SYNTHETIC RITUALS

The Uroboros festival is an annual gathering of artists, designers, and researchers experimenting with diverse means of living with and caring for more-than-human ecologies. Attending to ‘more-than-human’ as inclusive of both multispecies and algorithmic agencies, the 2023 Uroboros invites art & design inquiries into contemporary social, technological, and ecological shifts.
