We were in Chicago just for one day. A quick coffee/technical support/business kind of day. We attended #CoffeeFestChicago (was my first time in Chicago and first time in a coffee fest here in the US). I don't know exactly what I was expecting of Chicago, but my god... what an amazing city (of course the super small area we stayed). It is so beautiful. Somebody told us that they see Chicago as if Boston and New York had a baby and that baby is Chicago! Perfect analogy, I do believe! . May was a heck of a month. A thousand things happened in just 31 days. I'm still trying to adapt to the idea that Piti is no longer with us. Everyday I wake up thinking that he needs to go out to smell pees. And coming back with the same thought. Time does not make it easier, just bearable. I miss him so much! 🥺 . Coffea & Miami are going through a lot of exciting changes (will let you know soon🤗🥳) and we are in sourcing season as well. So we have been cupping and grading almost everyday. The new CQI classes are incredible amazing. I can't tell you enough about them. My god, they have done an amazing job. And SCA has updated every module so classes have changed and improved (one of the things I like the most about teaching SCA courses) . @just_the_roaster has been working his ass off, between the school, the new classes, the roasting and his Master in Businees Administration. Balancing everything with grace and patience! I have working a lot too, changing classes, courses, doing a lot of research, grading, sampling, cupping and trying to move forward our small business. @maria_daniela97 has been doing many things, helping us and improving her coffee skills everyday. I'm so proud of her! . And finally, we are officially in Hurricane Season, so many plans and goals will have to adapt to the weather circumstances. It has been raining since yesterday and the avenues close to our house are alteady flooded. We tried to do a delivery this morning and was impossible. So, we came back, brew more coffee (a really nice Salvador Washed), some house cleaning, and now we are ready for #StarWars action. It has been a really nice Saturday so far! . Tomorrow is our last day in Kansas Citi, MO. Dylan finished his training on Friday and we took the opportunity to visit the family and spent some time with them . Coffee....has given me so many things. Love, husband, memories, friends, passion, life, career, family, and so much more than I'm unable to think of everything and all at once . Not everything is pink color and love stories. Sometimes I get discouraged with the industry and this made me really sad. Like for instance in Boston, this happened to me. At some point I felt overwhelmed and super sad, to the point of tears. Thanks God I was with one of my dearest friend and soon this feeling passed. I understood is not coffee, but coffee people! And people is people, no matter the industry where they are. And still, it is hard. Most of the time I feel content, inspired, motivated and positive about the future. And in rare occasions I feel like a little trash got into my soul . But then I find the strength to see the whole picture and restore my faith, and again is not coffee. It is people🥺 . This was a really weird Expo for me. I was giving Workshops as Station Instructor and had the afternoon free. Dylan was working full time in the Roasting Competition and only had Sunday free to walk the floor. So most of the time I felt like lost and overwhelmed, don't know exactly why. I could not see some of my friends that I wanted so bad to see and felt the distance of others I was expecting to spend some time and were super busy working . Still I think on Expo and have this weird feeling. I really hope Portland will be better for me! I'm so sorry if I was unable to give you a hug and see your face! Martha's Vineyard is an island located south of Cape Cod in Massachusetts in the United States that is known for being a popular summer get away. Here, is where in 1974, Steven Spielberg filmed the movie Jaws, Jaws 2 and Jaws: The Revenge! . It is primarily a place where people go to relax, and the island offers a range of tourist accommodations . And here in this beautiful coffee shop, visited for many people, including President @barackobama and other celebrities during their tourist season, is where our coffee 𝗘𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗼𝗽𝗶𝗮 𝗕𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗮 𝗦𝗲𝗴𝗲𝗿𝗮 𝗪𝗮𝘀𝗵𝗲𝗱 was served. They didn't serve to President Obama because they use a regular Blend for espresso, and Bensa was served on Pour-Overs, but for us it is wonderful beyond words to have the honor of being there.
