If Erin had the time, she might have been a little irked by the question. Was this real? Of course it was, of course it was like, jesus, look around. But, she didn’t have time for it. Instead all she could do was take it seriously, genuinely.  “ Unfortunately, yeah. Very real. ” She replied as she continued reaching haphazardly for anything that was floating towards the cave’s mouth. Shoving it all down in the backpack along with the first aid kit. She had that, she had that– if nothing else, she had that. She looked back up to Margo as she asked another question, brain freezing for a moment. Anything. Everything. But no, if they had limited time (which was a very, very real possibility) they had to prioritise. “ Food. ” She decided. “ And clothes. Maybe clothes is more important than food, we can replace the mangoes and bananas– I don’t know, ” She rambled, cutting herself off with a rather astute declaration. “ Just, fill a bag, and– ” Her eyes spotted it. She’d seen it last night and intended on having a better look today. Hear the recording for herself if she could. “ Fill a bag with anything you can and then we’ll take the black box together, ” She said, nodding towards the orange box. However, not quite able to stand in the leadership position so soon after running away and being brought back she had to check “ Yeah? That sounds good, right? ” She asked, still filling the stupid backpack with whatever she could.
Tumblr media
margo nodded in response to erin's confirmation that yes there was another shit cherry ontop of the shit sundae that was being stranded on an island. usually margo would have been irritated that one of her stupid questions got a simple response but she was too hungover and distracted to care. the instructions erin gave her were simple but margo needed them in the moment. the part of her brain that coulld think rationally and use common sense was still out of order. she quickly scanned the cave looking for a pink drawstring bag. the first one her eyes landed on was on the other side of the cave. she needed to think of an item that was nereby and the first thing that came to mind was the bundled up jacket she used as a pillow. it would only take a few steps to reach it. she bended down before picking up the jacket and agressivly shaking it as a way to unfold it quickly. she placed the damp fabric on the cave floor then made a make shift bag by holding together the sleeves and botton corners on the jacket. she stood up and felt her heart jump into her chest when she saw an abandoned pill container being washed away. she dashed towards it and was confused when she grabbed it and discovered that it wasn't hers. she didn't know which of the other eves had meds they told nobody else about. she shrugged as she threw the container didn't her 'bag'. she would find out later. before doing anything else she quickly checked her jacket pocket and was relieved when she found the container with her twleve remaining pills. margo didn't know if her new rationed med schedule was doing enough to keep the chemicals in her brain balanced or whatever they were supposed to do but that was a problem for later her. present her needed to totter around the cave tossing whatever she could find into the bag. "fuck me, i'm getting pe flashbacks." she commented to lighten the mood as she regrouped with erin."yeah, that sounds sweet as.", she answered in response to erin's suggestion that they get the black box.

open starter: @wildshub when: day 18, high tide time babey where: beach, erin returning from the waterfall
Erin was distracted, completely. People’s words from the last few days, especially drunken words from last night, seemed to be on a constant repeat in her head. She wanted to let it go, she wanted to just move on and, like, be happy– or whatever the fuck she’d been doing the first 12 days on the island. But she couldn’t. She hadn’t noticed when she’d left in the very very early morning (arguably still the middle of the night to some) that the tide had started moving up the beach. At least, not more than it did every night. Not enough for Erin to predict what was to come. She was a pool lifeguard after all, not a beach lifeguard.
The long walk to the waterfall and back, with as many bottles as she could carry in two far from pristine Dawn of Eve drawstring backpacks, had felt like what she needed. It was something useful, something she had to return to camp with, and it allowed her the time in nature to reconnect with herself. Think out as many of the negative thoughts on rotation in her head as she possibly could. But when she caught the first glance of the beach through the trees, she realised she was wrong. She was so fucking wrong.
Tumblr media
She dropped the bags, forward thinking enough to realise they would only weigh her down and she’d need to drag them off the beach again anyway, before she ran. Hurrying to the cave, where the tide was starting to seep in, some where awake already. “ Come on, come on! The water! ” The moment she saw the red bag of the first aid kit, she reached for it. That was their most important possession. The couldn’t lose it. Where the hell was the lighter? And, Jesus, should she have left the water bottles and brought the bags? Didn’t matter, she reached for anything she could, shoving it into the red kanken that had all of Jill’s stuff in it.  “ We’ve gotta move, like now. ”  She said, trying to keep her voice calm but it had to be obvious she wasn’t. She was panicked, scared, perhaps even a little guilty for leaving again. Even if it had been for water.
technically margo was alive but she didn't feel like it. she had experienced some killer hangovers in her time but none of them had been this bad before. the throbbing pain in her head reminded her of all the times violet repeatedly banged on her bedroom while screaming at her to put her headphones in over the sound of distorted guitars and discordant vocals. if she was forced to compare the feeling in her stomach to something she would compare it what she imaged going on a dodgem during an earthquake would feel like. it was a miracle she hadn't puked yet.
she assumed that your feet feeling wet was a unique hangover symptom that came specifically from drinking centuries old pirate rum. but she started to fear that the group were in another life or death situation when she saw the panic in erin's eyes. "shit, the water coming into the cave is real?", she asked. it was one of those rare cases where margo wanted a second opinion. "what do you want me to grab?" she asked, scanning the cave for anything useful. usually, she hated taking orders but erin was good in a crisis and seemed for alert than she was.

at this point, hearing a knock at her window was pretty much par for the course for jude, and it never startled her - instead, it tended to bring a grin to her face, ‘cause it meant margo was over. ( “she knows she can just use the door, right?” jude’s mom questioned regularly ). she tossed her phone onto her bed and rolled over, shoving the window open and allowing her best friend to come in. “yeah, then i’ll kill myself and it will be just like the play, but only ‘cause you made me think about shakespeare,” she laughed, leaning back on her wrists. when she saw the bag of fast food, her face lit up even more than it had when she realized margo had come over ( if that was even possible ). “uh, is that for me???” she asked, placing one hand to her chest and smiling brightly. “if it’s not, then your first mistake was bringing it here, ‘cause i’m eating it either way, bitch.”
Tumblr media
margo shoved the fast food bag into jude's hands then climbed through her. she knew there was an easier way to enter jude's apartment but she liked having to contort herself to fit into the small window. it made her feel like a boyfriend in a shitty old movie and it was their unique thing. if delilah wanted to make margo's life easier she could always replace the window with a beaded curtain like she kept suggesting. she was sure delilah was going to cave in eventually or agree that it would look sweet as. "nah don't do that dude. i'd miss you too much." she said as she stopped to catch her breath. climbing a fire scape was tiring especially when your life flashed before your eyes every time you thought your food was about to get turned into pulp. "it could be a wholesome kid friendly adaptation of r & j. you know, like the one with the gnomes." , she explained. she pretty sure the horrifying blue gnome was named gnomeo as a pun and specific reference but she was baked out of her mind the only time she watched that movie so she had no idea what happened in it. "nah dude it's for the subway rats. i just came here to make you jealous." she deadpanned. now that she thought about it there wasn't much different between feeding jude and feeding subway rats. both were misunderstood and tough on the outside but sweet when you got to know them.

dream concept: one of those hallmark movies where a city slicker gets stranded in a small town and falls in love with a wholesome country boy girl
where: oona’s ranch
Tumblr media
margo sighed as she looked in the bedroom mirror. she had hoped her car would have been fixed by now. it was just her luck to miss her own tour bus then break down in the middle of nowhere where the local mechanic needed to wait for the broken parts of her car to arrive instead of having them on hand. she supposed she was lucky in some ways. the family who found her stranded on a country rode weren't serial killers. at least they hadn't murdered her yet. they were welcoming, especially the eldest daughter. to her surprise margo liked spending time with the wholesome country girl. she would never have chosen the clothes oona let her borrow herself but it was still a sweet gesture. she played with the loose fitting floral green material of the dress she borrowed then made her way downstairs. "hey, are you ready to go?" she asked as she stepped down the last of the creaky old stairs. "so this whole country fair thing what do you do? are there going to be rides and cute animals?" she hoped she would get to see some sheep dogs.

dream concept: just a couple of gals being pals
where: jude’s queens apartment
Tumblr media
margo impatiently banged on jude's bedroom window with her left hand. her right hand had a maccas bag haphazardly balanced on top of it. she had a difficult journey trying to get to jude's apartment while also making sure the food was still intact. but she was pretty sure she did it. there were a few close calls. the bag almost slid off the passenger seat of her mum's car (god margo was going to be so dead if she couldn't get rid of the smell of maccas from her mum’s car), a dickhead riding a bike on the sidewalk almost rode into her and she almost dropped the bag while climbing up the fire escape but all her near misses would be worth it.
margo decided to bring food to jude's place because while they were texting she mentioned she was home alone and couldn’t be bothered to microwave anything. she didn't ask for anything but margo thought it would be a nice gesture. just as she was leaving to her apartment margo mentioned to her mum where she was going and was told the loud redhead didn't deserve a girlfriend like her. she scoffed in response to her mum's comment. she didn't understand why everybody thought her and jude were dating. just because they were both gay, liked spending time with each other and hooked up a few times didn't mean they were dating. they were best friends. but sometimes best friends didn't immediately open their window. "hey honey i'm home! if you don't open up i'm going to throw a rock through your window. or worse i could go full romeo and start reciting poetry." her words were harsh but she said them playfully. that was the thing about jude margo could be as blunt or as ridiculous as she wanted and the other girl would be on the same wavelength as her.

“Oh yeah,” there was a sense of relief that followed Margo’s words and Joss felt comforted by the fact that the other girl didn’t get any enjoyment out of the idea of Joss urinating. It was a small win but given the miserable circumstances they were in, a small win was still a win in her books. “Okay, okay, I get it,” she insisted, waving a hand dismissively, deciding that it was increasingly difficult to endure Margo the more words that came out of her mouth, “I misheard you,” she insisted, “Let’s just go,” she instructed a moment later, taking the lead a step or so ahead of the other girl. “I fucking hate this humidity hey,” she whined to nobody in particular, though she supposed Margo was a suitable audience. “Are you actually from Melbourne?” she asked curiously, turning over her shoulder to the other girl, “Like, originally?” she had grown up across the border herself but most of the girls she had befriended were born and raised in the suburbs of the Victorian capital. As a result, there was always a bit of banter exchanged between the dads at soccer whenever Joss’ father wore his Rabbitohs hat to games.
Tumblr media
margo rolled her eyes. she didn't think joss had the right to be snippy with her after she was the one that misunderstood a simple concept. if anything she should have been snippy with joss because she was the one that accused her of being a perv. but she didn't have the energy to hold grudges on a good day never mind the day after seeing a dead body. “finally. i thought i was going to have to write a letter explaining the concept of standing on watch then another letter insisting that i don’t have a piss kink.” she joked sardonically. usually she hated joss’s whinging but she preferred listening to whinging than addressing the elephant in the room. “yeah it sucks. i wish a hand fan would wash up.” she rambled before sighing. she didn’t realise how much she would miss hand fans.” hey, can you keep a secret?” it was a rhetorical question because she was already convinced that joss couldn’t. “i’m not actually from melbourne. I’m from near mildura.” it felt like a silly thing to confess because in the grand scheme of things it didn’t matter. oona was from hicksville, usa and joss talked like margo’s dads friends that slipped her a beer when her mum wasn’t looking.

Surprised by the sudden voice in the quiet Erin looked up from the butterfly she was tracing on the ground with her index finger. Brows raised slightly as eyes landed on Margo. She didn’t think standing out in the rain when they had a very limited supply of dry clothes was all that smart, but she could use something to wake her from the numb sort of feeling that had started to settle. “ It’s cool, ” She said, when Margo decided not to make some joke about bucket lists. “ You know what’s kinda bad? ” She said, giving a slight beat before she continued, “ My first thought, when you said that, was to have a release your inhibitions, feel the rain on your skin moment. You know, that song? ” She smiled lightly with her admittance, the tune of Unwritten in the back of her head already. “ I’ll go outside with you though, ” She offered, genuinely, “ If you actually want to and weren’t just making a joke, ”
Tumblr media
"cheers." margo replied simply because she thought erin wouldn't be in the mood to listen to her ramble due to her grief. but old habits died hard and she felt more comfortable when her mind moved quickly and she spewed out whatever she was thinking. it was how she coped. "you know, for letting me off for being an annoying motormouth. it was nice of you." she complimented. she knew that reason why that small act of kindness affected her was because of her heightened emotional state but that didn't mean that it didn't matter. it still comforted her in a tiny way. “vaguely. is that the one by natalie imbruglia? shit, no that’s torn. unwritten is by some other chick.” she rambled. her music expertise didn’t cover cheesy pop songs. it was mostly limited to her beloved riot grrl bands and whatever classic rock her dad played around the house. her eyebrows raised in shock when erin agreed to come with her. “really? i thought you were going to say no.” she admitted. she learned her lesson about misjudging people two nights ago.

jude just shrugged and offered margo a weak grin. “rainwater’s better for wounds than salt water, right? still not gonna dance, though. but i’ll watch, and tell you if you look like an idiot.” even if she did dance, or could dance, she wasn’t sure she’d be able to stay upright after the battering her brain had consistently taken. “why’d you wanna go get wet so bad anyways? in the nonsexual way, i mean. i’d get it if you just wanted to go off in the rain and, like, hook up with elise, or something,” jude clarified. maybe it never rained in australia; maybe margo just didn’t know when the next time she’d get to be anything but bone-dry would be. she shuffled on her feet a little as margo gave her take on rescue - that it was absolutely coming, that they’d been seen, that they were saved. “yeah, probably,” she agreed absently, “depends on how long the storm takes to clear up, though, i guess. kind of a bad one. they might have to send a boat, right? ‘cause it’s too small for a plane to land, i guess,” she mused, shrugging her shoulders ineffectually once more. “shitty timing.” of course, she meant the storm; but maybe she meant odessa, too, though she wouldn’t say it aloud. all of this shit she didn’t wanna talk about, couldn’t fucking think about - she’d rather get decked in the face. “check it out,” she said suddenly, a stupid way to change the subject, kind of obvious, but still she held out the floss for margo to see, her go-to ( she figured everyone should get to use it if they wanted to ). “found it when i was bleeding out in the sand last night,” she joked.
margo frowned deeply at jude's question. poking at cuts with cotton wool, applying a bandaid to everything and making unwanted commentary while other people sorted things out was the extend of her wound care knowledge. however, lack of knowledge hadn't stopped her from saying things before. "i don't know. i thought salt was meant to kill bacteria and there's nothing in rain unless there's a fuck up somewhere along the water cycle." margo shrugged. "maybe you should ask erin." she added with a smirk. teasing jude about her crush made a change from how often jude teased her about her's. "what do you have against dancing?" she asked, trying to take her mind off the reason why none of the eves would be in the mood for dancing. "you're not one of those people that thinks they're too cool to dance, are you?" she forced herself to roll her eyes in a casual manner. "it's not about being wet. being out there just seems more exciting than being in here." she bullshitted, dancing around the fact that she didn't want to sit still with her grief weighing down on her shoulders. "hundo percent." she declared with a definitive nod. hope of rescue was one of the few things keeping her relatively sane and margo wasn't going to let anybody take that away from her, not even her bezzie jude. "don't know, depends if the pilot or whoever can easily get a boat or person with a boat. we didn't figure out what kind of plane it was." she mused. she always tried to avoid thinking about logistics and the logistics of how they could get rescued was one of those things. she gave a sigh of relief when jude brandished the floss. they were on the same page when it came to changing the subject. she grabbed the floss out of jude's hand and held the box eye level to get a good look at it. "don't know what good this can do but sweet. maybe you would find toothpaste in the sand if shane punched you again." she joked, nudging jude gently with her elbow.

now that things felt more real since they discovered odessa, and a night of no sleep had meant elise was confronting more thoughts than normal. she did this. she didnt know how, but she knew in her core that she did this to odessa and to everyone back home and it was only a matter of time before she did it again.
when margo spoke, her attention went to the girl, one of the people she most feared destroying. would it be by bringing her to her demise, directly or not like odessa? or would margo take the safer road, and bail the minute she heard the name elise in the same sentence as murderer. "yeah.” she said, tone abrupt, if anything to make sure margo didnt make a joke she’d get in trouble for.
as she walked out, not looking back until she felt that cold rain hit her skin she turned and took marogs head in her hands, and planted her lips on her. it wasnt the romantic tone she imagined a kiss in the rain would be, because elise feared itd be their last.
Tumblr media
margo scrunched up her face at the abrupt tone elise used with her. she thought elise loved all of the stupid shit she spewed out. or maybe the blonde just loved the distraction. margo wondered if their relationship would last after the storm cleared up and the plane came back to rescue them. internally, she questioned if their relationship was only moving as quickly as it was and felt as intense as it did because they were trapped in an extreme situation with a small number of people and needed a coping mechanism (similar to why high school relationships were short lived but intense). as she exited the cave with elise margo was uncharacteristically silent, lost in the kind of thoughts she tried so hard to avoid.
she grinned at the feeling of rain drops lashing down on her. the sensation was heavy as well as refreshing. it was exactly the kind of distraction she was looking for. she turned to elise to see if she felt the same, only to be met her the other girl's lips on hers. for a brief second she was frozen in shock but she quickly leaned into the kiss. it wasn't the greatest kiss in the world. it was clumsy, frantic and margo was losing a fight with the rain drops getting in her eyes but she wouldn't have changed a thing about it. "it looks way cooler in movies." she commented, lips close to elise's ear so she could be heard over the sound of the storm. "it was nice though." she added quickly, placing a kiss to elise's cold cheek.

Joss wasn’t really sure what the fuck was going on with Margo as she responded, running her mouth like she’d caught a case of verbal diarrhoea out in the rain that evening. Was it some sort of nervous tick or was she always like this? Joss hadn’t dedicated the time to finding out what Margo was like one on one but if it was anything like this at the best of times, she’d make an effort to avoid it for the rest of their time on the island. “I reckon you can probably just hang back and not watch me if that’s cool,” she spook in a somewhat icy manner, having misinterpreted Margo’s offer to be on watch but in her defence, she’d been distracted by the suggestion of a tap number.
Tumblr media
joss's words caused margo to come to a halt. there was a greek chorous in the shorter australian's head repeatedly singing what the fuck. “no i meant on watch. like you know-.” margo  frantically ran her hands through her hair, struggling to find a more simplistic way to explain what the phrase on watch meant. it was a self-explanatory concept. “guard you because something might happen to you if you went by yourself and it’s hard to see in the rain sometimes.” she rambled. she didn’t realise that she had to spell out that she was scared that somebody else might die after what happened to jill and odessa. “fucking hell i don’t want to watch you piss. don’t flatter yourself.”

“Yeah,” Grace confirmed without much hesitation on her part. She wasn’t exactly the master of words that some of the other Eves were but she liked to think that she was fairly clear when she did manage to speak up about things. Unfortunately, for Grace, however, this hope was very rarely actually realised and Grace’s utterances tended to be vague, without context and sometimes even downright weird. Alas, she was looking forward to having something to do, even if it was with Margo, who she didn’t always understand when she spoke.
Grace would have liked to have heard the end of Margo’s joke regardless, even if she wasn’t the target audience as the other girl had so astutely put it. Whatever the case, the subject matter had manage to pique Grace’s interest, “You got a bucket list?” she asked curiously, wondering if perhaps she should devise one of her own if it was a common thing to have. Perhaps Margo could  even help her do so.
Tumblr media
usually margo hated when people gave vague responses and didn't speak much. she thought that silence was awkward and it made her uncomfortable. but grace was an exception to the rule. she thought that not saying much made the skater seem cool and mysterious. it made the few times grace spoke an exciting occasion. “sweet. lets go.” she commanded with a slight smile. she made her way towards the cave exit with less spring in her step than usual.
margo blinked in surprise at grace’s question. she expected to get scolded or told to shut up. “not like an official one.” she responded with a shrug. she wasn’t the type of person that planned. instead she preferred to see through any spur of the moment whims that came to her. but she was also a dreamer. she had grand ambitions she aspired to. she considered herself a big fish in a small pond that was stifling her. “but there’s things i want to do.” she continued, conveniently leaving off the words before i die. “i reckon that everybody vaguely has a bucket list. if you dont have dreams and stuff to look forward to then what’s the point ? what about you ; what’s on your bucket list ?”

Joss laid flat on her back, looking up at the ceiling of the cave and trying not to think about the fact that she was probably resting in bat shit or that Odessa was dead. It was a pretty tall order when there was little else to keep her mind occupied, she’d come to discover. “Hm?” she hummed inquisitively, realising then that she hadn’t been paying any attention to her surroundings for what must have been an hour or so. In that time, it seemed, the other Eves could have disappeared and Joss would have been none the wiser. She didn’t have the energy to tell Margo to shut up or perhaps she simply had too many qualms with too many of the Eves to add any additions to her collection. “I need to pee, anyway,” she remarked, dismissing the other girl’s awkwardness as an act of courtesy toward her fellow countryman.
Tumblr media
margo couldn't tell if joss was being distant towards her due to underlining feelings of animosity or because of odessa's death. in the grand scheme of things it didn't matter either way. she nodded at joss. what were you meant to say in response to somebody telling you they needed to piss? righto, go enjoy your piss? “got it. so i’m assuming we’ll be quick and i’ll just stand off to the side on watch? it would be a bit mental if i did a full tap number while you had a piss. but maybe i could make it work, rain fall’s got a rhythm to it. “ margo rambled as they headed towards the mouth of the cave, terrified of being in silence. she reckoned if she continued at she rate joss was going to strangle her before they made it outside. she didn’t mind though. getting strangled would be a good distraction.

elisejaegar:
was this what relationships were? feeling a warmth all over your body but also like you could ruin everything with the wrong words? “you’re not dumb, hush.” she spoke with a playful scolding. margo’s next words seem so, earnest that it took elise back. “yeah, actually.” she wanted so badly to be that person who socialized effortlessly, who could walk out into the world without feeling its eyes glaring back, or who could have something bother them without it reaching such distressing heights. “who do you want to be?” she moved over a little closer to margo, an invitation.
the story of the soup can was amusing, minus the little pout at hearing about margo’s scar, another sign of how bad elise had it for her. “i can make soup. I mean, lots of people can…i can make soup for you.” not there, of course but maybe someday. she looked to the scar on her arm, but there was no way to only tell it a little. “this one,” she pointed to a small red spot at the bottom of her of her foot, once she had pulled it out of her shoe a bit and dusted some dirt off. “i was laying on my floor smoking weed when it started storming, one second just grey and then a downpour of rain, i got up to close my window but a flash of lighting startled me and I stepped on my burning incense stick.” she looked to margo again, wondering how this gorgeous and weird girl could make her feel as much a normal teenager as anyone else. a million ways to say thank you came to mind, but they were all so, to the point that elise faltered, saying nothing but resting her head on the other.
Tumblr media
margo chuckled when elise said she wasn't dumb. that must have been what people meant when they said you saw people you fancied through rose tinted glasses."trust me i'm very dumb." she declared with a nod. "i thought rasputin was a musician because of the song." she explained. it made sense to her because it seemed more likely for a band to write a song about another musician than a weird russian mystic. she paused as elise’s question. she was unsure if it was too soon to be emotionally vulnerable with the other girl. they had only known each other for a couple of weeks but it felt like years since they stepped on the plane and getting stranded on an island with someone was peak u-hauling. “i want to be as smooth and as effortlessly cool as i pretend to be. and i want to be braver.” she admitted, grabbing hold of elise’s hand. she pretended that nothing bothered her but really she just ran away from what scared her or made her miserable before she could work out why she felt that way. “what about you?” she asked, softly. “though honestly, no pressure to tell me and i like you just as you are.”
margo smiled as elise stumbled over her words. she was adorable “from scratch or out of a can?” she asked with a raised eyebrow. “my dad makes a delish soup with quorn pieces and corn. his face when he realised it tasted good was funny as.” margo’s lips curved into a bittersweet smile at the memory and her stomach ached. that memory was put aside as she listened to elise’s story. she loved learning more about the blonde. “your first mistake was smoking in your bedroom.” she commented with a warm laugh in solidarity. “i always smoke in my friend’s garage. his mum hasn’t said anything yet but we’re pretty sure she knows.” she was sure that owen’s mum wouldn’t care if she knew. she always tried too hard to be cool. the gang had considered letting them join their smoking sesh’s or at least margo had asked and owen immediately shot down her idea. she was sure that he wouldn’t say no after she came back from being stranded on an island.

jude followed margo’s rocks with her eyes lazily, finding the noise satisfying and the motion vaugely hypnotizing. she raised her eyebrows when margo moved to her feet, looking up at her. if there was anything jude could relate to, it was the excess of energy, the boredom - or maybe it was just a method of avoidance, trying to ride the spacey, detached, aching feeling she’d had since the night before when she fought with shane. jude liked rain well enough, and she was already wet, so it wasn’t that she was averse to going out there, but she was surprised margo was eager to. “okay, sure,” she agreed with a shrug, pushing herself gingerly to a standing position. “but i don’t really dance.” don’t, can’t, won’t, never really tried, not gonna start now? sure, all of the above. she bit back a chuckle at margo’s mention of a bucket list - though she was pretty sure nobody else was going to die here. probably. unless they both got struck by lightning out there, and then, well… whatever. she moved towards the mouth of the cave anyways. “think rescue will still come with the weather like this?” she asked, though she was now unsure what she hoped the answer would be.
initially, margo was thrilled that jude agreed to join her. she could always trust the redhead to go along with her reckless ideas. they were like two dumbass peas in an idiot pod or two socks with crying clown faces on that came together to make a pair. she had a vague picture in her head of what it would be like to dance it the rain. she would spin around, the bombardment of raindrops feeling refreshing on her bare arms, and she would be distracted from thoughts of odessa’s corpse as her screams would be barely audible over the sound of the storm. but as she properly looking at the girl standing to her side margo started to question her plans. “usually i would love to force you to dance but are you sure you’re up for it rocky balboa?” she asked, putting a hand on jude’s shoulder. she cringed at the mention of rescue. she had forgotten all about the plane.”fuck no.” she answered simply. she wasn’t fully aware of what turbulence was but she knew it was bad and happened to planes being flown during bad weather. “rescue’s going to come when the storm clears up.” she said with the kind of fake certainty parents used when telling their kid that their runaway cat was going to come back. “there’s no way the pilot didn’t see us. and i think we would defo be able to hear joss’s shouting ten thousand metres up in the air.”

elisejaegar:
margo had managed to break through elise’s gloomy aura, her humour and smart wit a welcome distraction from the blonde’s mind eating away at itself. “you are irresistible, no disagreement there.” she’d gone back and forth between whether or not having such a cool, cute girl around was good thing, a chance at some sunshine in her life before it ends, or a bad thing that would just lead to pain for margo, something elise desperately hoped to avoid.
“this time it was from zoning out, but that doesn’t make it any less of a treat to see your gorgeous self.” she pulled up the string of her new sundress, courtesy of lex, and felt her hand graze at the scar on her arm, noting that by now most of them had some sort of scrapes or bruises.”what kind of things do you think about….to keep yourself from spiraling?”
Tumblr media
margo felt a lump rise it her throat. she was the one that created the perfect opportunity for elise to flirt ,she set up the line for her to say the same way she set up jokes, so margo wasn't sure why elise's words made her feel so giddy and nervous. it was proof of the affect the other girl had on her. "umm thanks." she replied awkwardly. “sorry i’m being dumb. it’s just that...have you ever known what kind of person you wanted to be but didn’t know how to be that person?” she asked quietly. she didn’t know if that made sense but if she wanted to have a real relationship with elise she would have to emotionally vulnerable sometimes.
Tumblr media
as elise adjusted her sundress margo noticed the scar on her. arm it looked too old to have happened on the island. margo;s curiosity was piqued but she decided it would be best not to directly ask about it. people could be tired about scars and have baggage attached to them. “i’ve got a sick as scar on my thumb from this one time when i failed to open a soup can. i never ate tomato soup again.” she rambled. she blinked in surprise at elise’s question. “i try not to think.” there was a smile on her face but it was genuine advice. margo was a pro at running away from her thoughts.”i guess i distract myself. mostly by thinking about dumb shit instead like how all coles cans are evil.”

when: day 19, early afternoon
where: the cave
who: open @wildshub
the stone bounced off the cave wall with a thwack. she threw another stone at the cave wall then leaned over to retrieve the one that she had previously thrown. she thought that being forced to stay inside of the cave would do other eves good. it was an opportunity to process their grief and talk it out. but margo felt like the odd one out and like she didn't deserve to talk about her grief. she had nothing nice to say about odessa when she was alive so she thought she would seem fake if she starter singing her praises now. she let out a frustrated sigh that chucked the stone in her hand at the cave wall. on top of her complicated feelings margo was also bored as fuck. she needed to get out of pent up energy. she picked herself up off the floor."i'm going outside do you want to come with me?" she asked the eve closest to her."maybe i can tick dancing in the rain off my buck-" her sentenced trailed off when she realised what she was about to say was in poor taste." fuck nevermind you're the wrong crowd for that joke. comedy's all about good timing."

for the past two weeks and a bit margo had been avoiding oona, mostly only talking to her in group situations. she wasn't doing it on purpose, it was more of a subconscious thing because back home being a devout christian and riding horses were two massive red flags. but oona seemed sweet enough and she had zoya's seal of approval so she couldn't be like the judgemental horse girls margo spent her teen years avoiding. "oh hi!" margo greeted, loosening up her limbs. "nope. i'm actually dying of boredom. almost considered folding lex's shit to feel something." she admitted with a chuckle. "is there something you want me to do?"

closed starter: @margozhao when: Day 17 where: Eve’s camp
By no means was Oona in a good mood, but she had long ago begun to practice the art of masking that. Whining wasn’t tolerated back home and if her lower lip so much as wobbled her dad usually had a joke in his back pocket about it. And she already felt awful about crying in front of Zoya. Beyond awful. She’d half-avoided the girl the day before out of embarrassment and exhaustion, the guilt only doubling down in response to her own action because Zoya had been such a good friend. She wanted to apologize. She mostly just wanted another hug too. But in the meantime, in order to keep her hands and mind busy, she wanted to do something useful.
It was when she caught a peek at Margo’s things that she got the idea, and Oona approached her after a few hours’ contemplation. “Hey… Hi Margo,” Oona started. “Are you busy, by any chance? I wanted to ask you something.”
