I love that the arena fit is a sort of internal fanon for us now. Hopefully owlcat does something with it eventually, it's too good just to be for one scene.

We even got a perfect reason for him to be wearing it that's not shoehorned, like it would make perfect sense for it to be the fit he escapes the arena with until you give him his armor, just like ulfar's half naked state.

I wish you could just trade over Marazhai to Calligos. Very curious how Winterscale would bring a drukhari to heel. Like yeah he's opposed to it but he doesn't get a say in it does he, same as not having a say in it when you give him to heinrix.

All the wacky ways RT can exercise their power (with the colony events) is sometimes undercut by how much tiptoeing there can be with companions, and while it would make sense with key figures of your operation like your seneschal, your navigator, the inquisitor, I feel like RT should be able to mess a little more brazenly with the others, and especially marazhai who exists on the ship entirely by the grace of RT.

Initially I thought it was a don't cross a line thing, but it is perfectly executed perfectly with Jae where the both of you are aware of the staggering power deferential at any and all times. But like yeah Marazhai was frolicking all over your Empire a few acts ago, and generally looks down on humans besides, so he probably doesn't give a shit.

One of sub Marazhai's love languages is actually just him testing your ownership of him.

And like, unrelated, I think Sinisthora, in the buggy [betray marazhai] route, is a parallel to Dom RT in the sense that the white haired drukhari that shows up near the end is a parallel to Sub RT.

Really hope that thing really is just bugged and not cut content, I like hurting the little guy. Literally abandoning him after branding and possessing him there is just peak hurt.

man the romance options in rogue trader are something else. like how am I supposed to choose between:

1) imperial interrogator who tortures people for a living. ruthless, uptight, cold, secretly kind of sweet and protective, SO tired of your shit. will disappear your companions if you ask him to without hesitation and also also recommends blowing up a planet as the best course of action at one point

2) literally the main villain of act 2. cenobite torture alien. you can be his pet or you can make him your pet. branding is involved. everyone else on your crew is horrified by this. he is not redeemed at all, he is still very much evil. He makes you worse and will kill your crew members

I love the difference from bg3 where these are just like… very much not good guys at heart LMAO

"Zhai" can also work grammatically as a name, if I understand what the page means by the different moods, and I think it's also the more accurate word to use, seeing as how it means something like "blade", "edge", depending. Way more fitting for a Drukhari than "morning". So the runes that have something to do with that would be...

If you're playing Dom!RT, then you hit him with the Von Valancius seal, of course. I can't even remember off the top of my head what exactly he brands you with, his given or his family name. But we don't have an extensive enough dictionary to even begin guessing at how to build "Aezyrraesh".

So there was the initial assumption that when dom Marazhai brands you, it's with some variation of the kabal iconography, i.e this one

But now we get the artbook character concepts, for Marazhai, but also a lot of other people,

So there's a new candidate for the brand.

The arguements against is that the symbols on the other companion pages seem to be more about their general faction (House Orsello, the Inquisition) than personal. The arguements for is that it seems easier to carve into flesh.

Lowkey already looks very scar like and jagged.

Pissy marazhai is one of my favourite genders.

Unrelated but Marazhai's hair had potential as a prop in the sub route. It's in that tight ass knot I just know RT should have had the opportunity to play with it. Like he'll probably be grouchy about it, and the dialogue options will be like, 'fine then, leave' or you persist, and eventually he lets you.

And like you can braid it afterwards and convince him it's like a brand.

Marzipan would look gorgeous with a braid. And braid or not you should have the opportunity to just yank him at least once by the hair.

And piercings! Like we've already crossed the branding territory. The references to humans and their cattle. And elf ears. You see where I'm going with this.

I want to explore a random idea where marazhai got thrown in the cage with ulfar as entertainment and the only thing stopping ulfar from tearing him apart is the drugs TMan and Co pumped into Ulfar to make him horny (willfully ignoring the astartes have no drive/organs lore(?)) here.

Not particularly because I want them to get it on but because I cannot conceptualise of any other transformation you could do to Ulfar to let him suffer a drukhari to live.

(Intended to write smut, diverged into a thinking about Ulfar's dynamics with marazhai in contrast with RT)

And like part of the fun of marazhai is that he will always be physically stronger than human rogue trader, barring any psycker/mechanical shenanigans. And RT doesn't seem fully aware of that, at least not all the time, gauging from their suprise at marazhai straightening out his dented armor with his hands.

If you kill marazhai with the branding knife he is suprised. And I guess it's mostly because at that point you're super close but I also like to think he's also just not expecting you to be capable of doing so, especially when he literally lets you take the knife a few moments before.

The submission is mental, and core to marazhai's identity eventually, in the sub route. the average RT does not have physical superiority over marazhai short of tying him down (or modifying his body lol).

Ulfar on the other hand can physically pick up Marazhai and manhandle him. He can toss him, scrunch him up into a little gangly ball and then toss him, can hold his wrists in one hand and marazhai will not break free, he can tear those arms out. Everyone's options for bringing marazhai out of the warp induced feral state is something external/psychic.

Ulfar just goes, I'm going to squish you. And Marazhai's reptilian brain equivalent bitch slaps the psychic sensitivity and goes, we are going to die get out of the fucking driver's seat.

With an RT that chooses to keep him around Marazhai will always be a predator, whether tamed and debased and broken or dark and in control and glorious.

With Ulfar he is the prey.

Ballistic Skill [Check Failed]: You miss. And miss again. His eyes blink slowly at you like a cat's, and you can already see his lips curling around something mocking. You throw another at him to cut him off. It misses too and he pauses in suprise before a rich, deep, delighted laugh spills out of him and into the room. You can feel your ears flushing.

Ballistic Skill [Check Success]: Of course you hit. You're the Rogue Trader von Valancius, it would be an embarrassment to your name if you didn't. You continue. You try not to hit anything too important but the way he arches and squirms with every successful hit messes with your aim and makes it hard. And unbeknownst to you he'd been slowly pulling the center of his mass slowly upwards, and right when you let go of a dart aimed roughly at his chest, he drops himself and it takes you but a moment to understand that the new destination is his bared throat. You start forward, too late, but to your relief, with the narrower target range, the dart misses. Well, no, not completely. There's a thin line of red bisecting your brand that's starting to slowly, sluggishly stream red down his neck. You can almost taste the cocky satisfaction radiating off of his form and beyond that the anticipation of punishment in the glimmer of his eyes. You huff. Brat.

I need to write a fic where the Rogue Trader has Marazhai strung up against a wall in their chambers. The two having a casual conversation as the Rogue Trader uses Marazhai like a dartboard.
