Want your neopet drawn by me? This is your chance! At 15:07 1-2-2020 (GMT+1) I thought of a number between 1-10. Guess this number correctly and I will draw one (1) neopet of your choice, in the outfit of your choice, in the position of your choice, but without a background; for free (and for the love of god please don’t ask me to do nsfw). Just because I’m bored and want a challenge, and this seemed like a fair chance for everyone (number from 1-10 because I usually get that many notes on neopets posts, this is my first time, so if there are more reactions I’ll pick a wider range next time).

The thing with Neopets that breaks my heart, is that people who aren’t currently players will see content of it, feel the nostalgia, and will try to check back in only to see the site a complicated jumble of activities. They will be greeted with an interface that hasn’t been properly updated sinve 2007, stripped of both nostalgia and practicality. Even with the tutorial, it’s hard for new and returning players to unearth all the activities and mini-board cultures beyond playing and feeding with your pet. And that’s NOT to mention how so many of the funner aspects of the site (like the Roleplay boards) are now ghost towns thanks to over-moderation. Tamagotchi, Furby, and Webkinz are developing new things to reach people thru nostalgia and innovation. New pets, new LED lights, mobile connectivity. Neopets has remained in an awkward, post-nostalgia pre-evolution stasis since being robbed of its charm by Viacom.
