Max Fleischer
Max Fleischer was an American animator who worked on many famous animations from the early 20th century.
Screenshots above display some of the most well know animations he took part in making.
Max Fleischer’s animation career heavily influenced and moulded the world of animation into what it is today. So much so that the style of his animations are replicated and modified to fit the needs of modern society. Examples of this: Cup Head and Bendy Ink Machine. These are both games which have manipulated the old fashion style and modernised it to fit today’s culture. I have spoke about these two games previously.
Max Fleischer’s animations are so recognisable from story lines to art style, movment in characters and colour schemes (which didn’t come to play for a while).
His animations have had such an impact that some of his characters can be identified by only their silhouette, approximately 80 years later and his characters are still widely known and are easily identified; even more so now than in the past.

Betty Boop
Betty Boop is a famous cartoon character from the 1920s, she follows a very recognisable chibi style (head significantly bigger than body) and the facial features are very unique to a female’s. In the shows that she’s appeared in, the animation is very explosive and energetic, it also has a very “round” and bubbly aspect to it which is how her cartoons can be very easily recognised, just like in Cuphead, everything in that universe has a slight hop to it, making everything in the scene in motion. The animation in general is very simplistic, yet unique in it’s own way.
