What makes Cinderella 2015 a GREAT film is the relationship between Kit and his father. That shot where the king is laying in bed, and the camera draws up toward the huge bed frame and shows his majesty, along with Kit curled up like a little boy? Because his father is dying and he loves his father? And how, even in his weakness, his father is strong and a father because he comforts his son regarding his impending death and lonesomeness?

What also makes it a great film is the aesthetics! Art nouveau! French chateau! Victorian! 1880s! Medieval! It’s mix!!! Which is exactly what “Once Upon A Time” means, it’s a mishmash of collective memory and a time in which magical things happen

And the last point on what makes it a great film is that it is unabashedly Cinderella. Cinderella is a story often criticized for “needing a prince to save her” and the issue is that Cinderella has done all she can for herself. She has. She has suffered and borne the abuse and even tried to escape it, but that’s the point of victimhood, you cannot stop it. So Kit taking her away from all that she’s suffered from is an affirmation of her value, of her glory. Yes, it was wrong that this happened to you. Yes, you did not deserve it. Yes, you are loved. The prince “rescuing” Cinderella is the direct negation of what is done to her. And frankly, because it’s a Western story and practically all Western stories are built on Christianity (we can’t help it, it’s rather unconscious), it’s a eucatastrophe! Cinderella is saved, as we all hope to be.

I would read the heck out of a Theogony of Narnia

So I was already doing a bunch of biochemistry math, and while I was still in math brain(TM), I started doing some more math in order to create a Bible/Tolkien style genealogy of the first thousand years of Narnian kings and queens (the Frank and Helen dynasty basically). And then after a while I thought to myself "why in the world am I doing this?" But I'm already five hundred years in. Not just names and years, but also exploits and how they ruled and whatnot. Modeled after Genesis and Chronicles.

So um. I don't have polls yet, but please sound off if that sounds cool/if I should finish. Like I said, idk what I'm doing. Think today might have driven me slightly insane.
