Really? You can’t think of ANYTHING? Don’t worry worstie, I got you

A non-comprehensive list of bad things m*ria has done:

Made snide comments about the way Michael looked and smelled and constantly derides him to his face and to others, when she is supposed to be empathetic and “intuitive” about the true nature of people not just what they appear on the surface, as well as knowing him in high school and surely heard the roomers about him being homeless so comments about him smelling like a river are particularly meanspirited

Continued to go after Michel even when she knew Alex was still in love with him AND hopeful about things working out, and after she promised Alex she wouldn’t

Admits that she’s pursuing Michael to be selfish which she thinks she deserves, even though she knows she’s not just being selfish but she’s actively hurting someone she claims to care about while also using someone else as a way to boost her ego

Got huffy when Michael didn’t respond to her advances at his brother-in-law’s funeral when he showed up drunk and was clearly not doing okay

Told Michael they were in a non-exclusive, trial basis “thing” for her but he had to be exclusive and play dutiful boyfriend

Made comments about being surprised Michael was “housetrained” and having zero reaction or empathy when he tried to open up about his rough teen years, only saying she’d never heard him talk that much

Constantly talked down to Michael and reminded him he was never going to be good enough to meet her mom

Made Michael not telling her a secret that was not just his to tell and literally a matter of life or death into being all about her and refused to speak to him because of it

Drug Alex into doing all the emotional labor for her in her relationship with Michael because she couldn’t be bothered to use her “intuition” to see Michael is more than her worst assumptions, while ALSO knowing that Alex was still in love with Michael

Nearly gets Alex, Michael, and herself killed because she refused to listen to Alex the military strategist

The whole of That Scene

Also that episode and her talk in the truck with Alex which was bad enough in itself but knowing she went after Michael who was important to Alex followed by the next season with her going after Alex’s brother and now going after someone close to Michel it’s certainly a disturbing pattern

Made rude comments to Michael about being lazy and drinking his time away when we were just told that a) he hadn’t been around the Pony and b) it was already said he’d been working really hard and trying to better himself and his relationship with Max and Isobel

Made rude comments to Michael about if him and Alex were getting married yet and acted hurt about it like THEY did something wrong when she was the one who broke up with Michael (after ruining the “hope” she knew Alex was having about Michael) and she knew full well Alex had been gone all year and was seeing Forrest

Jumped off a roof to try and see a vision to make herself feel better knowing full well that a) someone could see Max using his powers because it was the middle of the day and b) that using his powers to save her would very likely kill Max as both he and his doctor stated as she was getting ready to do it, and she did it anyway because addressing her possible guilt was more important than Max being killed and Kyle having to stand by and watch it happen

Was incredibly rude to Michael who also risked their secret being exposed in broad daylight to save her

Got Kyle to risk his job at the hospital, his medical license, career, and reputation to steal her adrenaline just so she wouldn’t try to kill Max again, even though apparently being mildly startled by a spider super common to the NM desert she has lived in all her life was enough to do the trick

Continued patterns of self-harm putting her life, the lives of others and the alien secret in jeopardy and allowing Kyle, Michael, and Liz to run themselves ragged with worry over her and working on a “cure” when Michael had already made her something to stop the brain damaging effects, all she had to do was wear it and not use her powers UNTIL they could come up with something. But she refused and her condition got worse forcing them all to work harder to find a cure

Which was also disrespectful to her mom who gave up her own brain-protecting necklace to help save m*ria’s mind and she gave all that up to keep using her powers which ended up not actually doing anything to help anyone with any of the major plot points since the vision plot ultimately went nowhere and Michael was already being looked for and was in his own bunker at his own home so he wasn’t hard to track down

She drug other people into staying in her mind to fight Jones so she could get information which they already had access to inside the Lockhart Machine, and the files on that project that Alex was currently working on

She was only stuck in her mind because she went after Jones with no backup even though her boyfriend was with her and had military training and could have helped or kept her from doing something dangerous and getting caught by Jones

LITERALLY JUST THIS EPISODE, lied to Kyle and stole an EpiPen from his go-bag which a) could be an issue if he needs it and it’s not there because SHE STOLE IT, and b) by lying about her side effects and making new ones up, she is compromising the work Liz and Kyle are doing because they now have incomplete and inaccurate data

I Know You Better

Michael is absolutely blissed out as he and Alex enjoy the afterglow. For the third time. God he really loves having anniversaries now.

Two years down and the rest of their lives to go.

"Gonna have to push that party another hour Alex. You made me inoperable for the next 40 minutes." The happy sigh he lets out is answered by Alex's own who presses even closer to him.

"Sounds good."

After a good 10 minutes to calm down and get his brain back online, Michael has two glasses of water and an apple glide through the doorway.

"You feelin hot or cold?"

Hands skate slow and lightly over the bare skin of Alex's back, goosebumps rising as he shivers from the sensation.

"I feel like indulging so hot."

He tilts his head up for a quick kiss before nudging Michael to move.

That gets an eye roll but another quick kiss as Michael gets up to grab what they need from the bathroom. He throws a wink behind him as Alex's heavy gaze follows him.

Once Michael's beautiful body gets blocked by the doorframe, Alex rolls over and buries his face into Michael's pillow and melts.

Footsteps then soft lips trail up his spine before a warm damp towel wipes away the mess that's trying to dry, a gentle nudge makes him roll over to get to his front.

A second towel is handed to him without thought so he can get Michael's backside in their well done dance of cleaning up.

It's taken time but Alex allows this care and Michael too. Allowing each other to clean and care with love. It's no longer rushed or something seen as an end before parting ways but an additional moment to be intimate.

They enjoy a few more minutes of cuddling before both their phones alert them about reality.

Michael of course groans and goes to hide his face in Alex's neck as warm arms hold him in place.

"It's our anniversary so we can show up whenever we want."

They get 4 more alerts before resigning themselves that they have to leave their lovely bed to venture out for what their friends and family have planned.

Going through the almost routine of getting ready together. Turning or nudging, helping adjust clothes or grab needed items, doing their best to keep their hands and lips from wandering too much.

It's only when Alex is doing a quick sweep to make sure they've got everything and their home is secure, that the slight apprehension of going to their destination starts to bubble up before he sets it aside.

It's his and Michael's fucking anniversary so whatever happens, happens and he'll still be coming home.

It's a nice idea honestly but Alex is really trying his best to not just drag Michael outside to his truck and take them to their spot. He can be a bit petty alright it's been nearly 3 years since everything then another before that of what happened between them. The thing is Alex feels like it's sorta personal which is stupid since it's not his fault Greg ended things with her.

They already had a small thing with Greg yesterday since he knew things would be awkward if he joined today. The upside was Alex got to see Flint who still glares at him but gave him a nod for the brief moment they were in each other's presence and not so subtly gave Michael a shovel talk. Michael just rolled his eyes but accepted it because he knew things were just the tiniest bit better between Alex and his brother.

Alex would really like to be back there instead.

If Maria wants to make a fool of herself then he's all for it. He's been waiting for something to finally push her to be a little more revealing to the others who've been setting her actions aside.

"Maria I really don't think this is-"

Isobel's concern is flapped away by Maria's hand as she continues to set up her game.

"Nonsense, it'll be hilarious and a fun bonding experience for everyone."

Alex can't help but be a bit smug when Michael just gives her a thumbs up but hasn't looked away from him once.

Kyle sees it too and rolls his eyes but the mild concern Alex sees just makes him shrug.

With everyone here it seems like his patience might be paying off.

They're all sitting outside at the back area since Maria wanted to host but Rosa finally voiced her unease about being near so much alcohol. Alex isn't sure why the Crashdown or Max's house wasn't used instead but at least he can see the spot where he got his second chance when Michael kissed him.

"What does the winner get?" Alex questions as his foot runs up and down Michael's leg. The heated look tells him what his will be regardless of the game.

"A crappy photo-shoped t-shirt with both your faces on it and spa day for the two!"

The idea of going to a spa is not really either of their things unless said spa is just them pampering the other at home. Sue them for being a healthy amount of possessive about the other.

It's absolutely something Maria would want though. Physical proof that she won and a spa trip.

He'll give it to Kyle and Isobel who instantly perk up at the reward.

It'll be interesting to see what the others know but knowing Kyle and Max they'll probably make a few joke answers for fun. Liz, Kyle, and Heath have the science down and some basic medical info but they'll be a bit stumped about personal things.

Isobel and Max have the advantage over Dallas but him and Michael have been bonding a lot too.

Alex isn't too worried about what Maria knows because the more Maria explains about the game the less Alex likes it but knows he'll win.

Rosa offers to keep score and argues she hasn't had time to get to know him like the others do, which is a lie from what he knows but there's that mischievous look in her eyes.

"You just wanna know about me but you're taking the lazy way out."

Rosa makes a face at Michael's accusation but they're both fighting smiles.

"I mean if you count that very fun night last month I know a decent amount already."

Her eyes flick to Alex who just shrugs.

"He had fun and so did I."

Maria calls them to attention once she has whatever she needed setup.

"I only thought of this last minute so there aren't as many questions for you both but Michael first."

She seems excited about the prospect of winning but if Maria really knew Alex like she claims with this game, then this whole concept of being pitted against each other to determine who knows who best or even that anyone besides Michael or maybe Kyle actually knows him, is cheap.

"So first off we'll start easy with Michael's birthday just say the date-"

"Wait which one?"

To Alex's surprise it's Max who asks.

Not a fan of being interrupted, she rolls her eyes at him.

"The one that's right obviously."

Her answer and action seems to take Max aback and further confuse him.

"No, I mean which birthday are we choosing because there are like 3."

That gets a scoff from their game host and Alex can't help himself.

"There's the night they left the pods. The legal birthday given to them. Then there's the day Michael wanted for himself."

Alex doesn't add that it was also the day that they calculated would actually be his birthday from the journals they found. That's only theirs.

Surprisingly everyone except for Maria knows the exact date for the night they left the pods, even Heath.

A sight furrow is starting to form on Maria's brow at that.

"Nearly all of you have some medical info about him or were there." She grumbles and tries to move onto the next question but Michael stops her.

"Alex never got to finish his answer."

Michael's gaze is searing into him that he can't not meet as he says each specific date.

Everyone groans at them for being so 'gross' and 'really right in front of us" but neither man cares when all they see is each other.

"Next question: What is Michael's favorite item of clothing?"

Everyone answers that it's his black cowboy hat except for Maria and Alex.

Maria says it's his oldest and only white crewneck.

Alex waited to go last so he can correctly answer the hoodie Sanders gave him the first day he started working at the Autoshop.

He can't wear it now of course since he's sadly outgrown it but he's kept it.

"Michael's favorite movie."

Heath, Liz, Isobel, and Dallas answer The Iron giant.

Max and Kyle both say Avatar to be funny.

Maria declares Meet the Robinsons.

Alex winks at Michael and answers Wall-E by a long shot but his first that still sticks with him is Stardust because he was bullied into finally watching a movie with Isobel and Max at the Evan's house. If he over explains the second part then no one will ask about the first, that they watched it together at the drive-in for their first official date.

Maria crosses her arms and throws Michael an annoyed look but all Michael does is shrug because he's too busy fiddling with Alex's fingers.

"I thought you loved Meet the Robinsons."

"I mean I liked it the time we watched it but you can't beat Wall-E Deluca."

She gives him a tight smile.

"What's his favorite food?"

That seems to stump everyone except Alex, Isobel, and Max but Maria answers first.

"It's his own spicy chorizo of course."

Max and Isobel share a smirk.

"Sander's breakfast scramble."

They both look to Michael who gives them a so-so.

"Close but you missed something."

Dallas makes a noise in thought. "Is it being made with acetone?"

That gets a laugh but Alex can already see the idea turning in his head.

Kyle sighs and shares a look with Liz.

"Please keep the alien cooking between all of you unless you want to be a funny work story."

"I second that." She squints at him like maybe she could read his mind. "Is it anything at the Crashdown?"

Michael again casts his eyes back to Alex with glee.

"This weirdo must eat it with fresh avocados even after all of Walt's grumbling about millennials ruining food with it."

"You know he's been doing it too so he can grumble all he wants, hypocrite."

Maria looks like she wants to say something but let's it go.

"What's one of his good characteristics."

"A stubborn genius that doesn't know when to quit."

Michael puffs out his chest pleased at Liz's answer and when Heath says he seconds it.

Kyle eyes them both and grins. "A terribly love sick idiot."

"You know what I'll take it Valenti."

As they all snicker when he makes slightly dramatic moon eyes at Alex.

Isobel and Max answer together with soft smiles. "An insanely loving brother."

"Kind and fiercely protective." Dallas adds.

All of the praise makes Michael go a bit bashful but he easily accepts it.

"Someone who can fix anything." Maria slinks back in her chair as her eyes focus on him. "Cause he's good with his hands."

Alex can feel it, another shift as her choice of words settle around them. The flickers of discomfort start to linger in the air.

Again Alex let's it slide so he can give Michael his full attention.

"His stupidly caring heart that finally found the home it's been searching for to be happy."

The perfect way Michael's eyes got absolutely soft on him at his words.

"Second to you. I'm glad I came home."

Everyone aww's at them because while Alex's song has only been sung only a rare few times since that first night, it's still insanely sweet and sappy when they bring it up.

"What is his favorite spot in Roswell?"

Everyone else seems to go quiet at Maria's pointed tone. Her eyes staring into the side if Alex's head.

"Depends on what he needs but it hasn't been a bar for a year."

He goes for teasing because this should all be in good fun right? The way Maria's tight smile goes flat shows it isn't.

His foot is lightly tapped by Michael who's checking in.

They've talked about this for the last year, being able to work through and let go of the last remaining doubts and fears that have still lingered. It was hard and terrifying but they've grown and healed so much, done the hard work to make sure they keep working together instead of against.

Alex tried to let go of what going to Maria did to him before and after they got together then just locked it away when that didn't work. It was all good and fine until they started getting more comfortable, more confident and sure about their relationship that the difficult talks started happening.

Michael's fear of Alex leaving nearly gone but still something he can't seem to quit. The new guilt that came when Alex finally voiced how much what happened with Maria hurt. The uncertainty when Michael revealed how much he wasn't truly himself with her, that he cared but he felt more like he was playing a part he thought he wanted but just couldn't seem to get right.

Alex still felt guilt for Flint and his constant battle of worrying about the next unknown thing he'll find out about his family, that will finally push Michael away from him. The worry about someone better coming into Michael's life. They both seemed to have that fear but it helped them realize that it was an internal issue about themselves, the fear that they themselves weren't good enough for the other when the reality was that sorta contradicts how much they want to be together because they saw the good in the other. The bad too but it only made the cosmic relationship they have that more real.

Alex brings himself back to the present and, trying to keep the peace, he actually answers the question.

"Surprisingly it's been the garden hence why he's somehow able to have fresh avocados regardless of the season." A warm feeling settles into him as reminders of Michael working so diligently and loving with his growing garden in the back, so focused and usually shirtless in the heat.

The gentle pressure on his cheek brings him back but then he gets lost in Michael's eyes instead.

"He got his airstream after highschool from Sanders."

Alex barely contains the annoyed sound he wants to make.

So they're doing this then.

"He fixed and worked on it after highschool. He got it a year after because Walt didn't know what to do with it but conveniently complained about it to Michael."

Maria for some reason turns her glare from him to Michael like her being wrong is all his fault.

She tries again.

"His dream career is to work for Nasa."

"Agricultural engineer first then Nasa. He wants to get a Doctorate to annoy Kyle."

This makes the others laugh awkwardly and even Kyle tries to chuckle but the attempt at humor just adds to Maria's growing frustration. Alex is really enjoying this.

It goes silent at her next words.

"He doesn't want kids."

This one Alex loses all humor to glare and he can see Isobel doing the same.

"That's actually between us and who we want to know." The implication of her not being one of those people just makes her angrier.

"His favorite sex-"

"Maria enough already!" Her mouth closes with a click and stays closed as Michael stares at her in concentration. "What the hell is wrong with you?"

Alex takes his hand across the table and gripes it tightly. They've found it helps ground him.

"Breathe." He mouths.

Michael does and tugs Alex forward as a sign he needs him closer.

"If this is about Greg then-"

"You lied to me!" Explodes from her.

Michael's not entirely sure what he lied about this time before the last few minutes plays back in his head.

There's a question in his eyes when he looks at Alex followed by a certain set of taps. He shrugs in answer, a small part of him squirms in glee when he feels the slightest sensation of sinking. Everything looks exactly the same.

"Not intentionally and things change. We both know I wasn't truly myself even after you found out about the alien stuff."

Alex can see the hope Michael has that maybe Maria had at least some idea about this, that while their time together was nice for them, it wasn't all of Michael. Alex can't help the sigh, dampening some of that hope in Michael.

"So what, was our whole relationship a lie then? Nearly a whole year of my life with a stranger! Just used me to get ready to be all perfect for Alex?"

The accusations would've cut deep into Michael before. He would've spiraled and tried everything to make her see that they weren't true. 'Would've' being the key word.

Alex and him didn't work this hard the last 2 years to let things like that hurt them by causing doubts and questioning. That also means they're more ready to defend each other.

"If anyone used him it was you." It takes a second for his words to sink in but when they do Alex can feel the absolute fury crashing into him like waves but he's not done.

"Do not make me list why because I've been able to let most of it go, to move past that night with the bootmaker." He leans forward and keeps his eyes locked on her. "I'm sure you'd like to keep it in the past too."

Maria seems to take it as a challenge.

"You still participated and it was you who left him." She takes a step forward. "You never made a move." Another step. "I allowed him the choice to choose and he chose me that night." A final step brings her right in front of him. "He told me he loved me first and I know there's a part of him that wants me back because I can give him things you can't."

Those words hurt, digging deep and finding the small tender parts still healing but they don't stay because for once he won't let them.

All Alex can do now is just laugh loud and free.

"That night I had a chest wound and was out of my mind worried with all of us hurt. I left and didn't make any 'moves' as you've put it because I was respecting Michael's wants and needs instead of only seeking my own." He tilts his head and levels her with the most patronizing look. "You didn't allow him anything except to do what you wanted. We made an agreement, a mutual one even if it went unspoken, way before you got together after that night. Michael told me what he wanted and I stepped back to let him try being with you."

It's actually cathartic, that he's been able to get that all voiced and out. A few less things trying to cling then drag him down.

Michael looks so proud of him, can feel it with their hands connected and even a little bit of heat.

When he turns to Maria he just looks sad.

"You think I lied but I can't lie when the things I like changed, that I only liked them because it was what I thought I was supposed to do." He looks down for a second, to get everything in his head sorted.

"I was in such a bad place when I went to you because I needed something simple and what I thought was different. I needed to break the horrible cycle I was in and you seemed to like me instead of tolerate me so I went for it, tried to be good for someone. I thought you and Alex talked, that when he said he understood that I liked you, it was because he heard your side. God he was the one helping steady our relationship at the start, he's the freaking reason you gave me a chance after finding out about the alien stuff."

Michael takes a shuddering breath as he continues.

"He was the one that was ready but saw that I wasn't so he let me take my time in the most stupid and tragic way, jesus Alex I really want to kick you past self for doing that."

Alex squeezes their hands, softly smiling as he also chides him.

"Focus."

"Right." It takes effort to look back at Maria but Michael does.

"I don't know why you think I would ever leave Alex. I have no idea what you think you could give me when Alex has always been what I wanted since we started our thing at 17. I'm sorry you're still upset about Greg but you are not allowed to take it out on Alex because he is done taking the blame for shit he didn't do."

It seems like some sense has started to sink into her, her face still showing anger but now there's doubt and confusion as she realizes this thing is much bigger than just her.

"I- but we-" She points at Michael. "You've been really close and nice to me! Being there for me when I ended things with him and-"

Alex can't help but curse at that because for christ sake.

"So do you see all people that've been there for you as someone interested?"

"What no of cou-"

"Then a concerned friend who was asked by his boyfriend to check on you should hold no interest when it was you who broke up with my brother because he 'wasn't spending enough time with you' when he had a job and home all the way on the Res."

The real reason for their breakup being explained makes her go silent.

Alex has had enough of this and the twitch in Michael's jaw shows he feels the same.

"This should be enough."

The slight shift and subtle feel of rising before settling into himself never fails to fill him with excitement. Also a little lust cause Michael using his powers with such effortless and absolute control really does it for his competency kink.

"Dang Michael you've really got that one down." Dallas crows and snaps Maria out of whatever got her stuck, the reminder of them not being alone drains all of the color from her face.

"Guess that's out queue." Heath mutters as

He and Dallas rise and give a quick polite wave before heading to the exit.

"I've gotten really good at using that persuasion thing Isobel had but just like her it only works with the truth and adding that to what my deadbeat passed down."

Michael drawls out as he glances at the others.

"Makes some things pretty clear." Isobel answers through her teeth. "Delcua. I see why you've been avoiding Mimi now. Avoiding the truth still I see."

She stands and settles with eyes of ice.

"Michael is always there for the people he cares about."

Kyle of course can't help himself.

"It's kinda annoying."

"Aww Valenti you remember New Years!"

"We don't speak of that night!"

Kyle grumbles but a quick kiss to his cheek from Isobel settles him.

Michael wrinkles his face at them, but his happier mood from earlier coming back. He tilts his head to the exit, motioning that he's all good to leave now. Alex is in absolute agreement.

"I'd like to remind you that this is our anniversary and we should be spending the day happy so thank you for hosting, even though Max's place would've been better, and thank you for letting Michael and I let go of some leftover things we still had."

They both stand and push their chairs back in.

"We'll see ourselves out and everyone shouldn't bother us for the rest of the day."

Liz looks miserable but Alex already had his talk with her months ago. It's only now she's actually seeing what he was trying to say.

Maria realizes this too and looks at her panicked.

"I'm going to need time. You need some too. Go see Mimi and work through whatever this is. Come on Max."

Max helps her up and has a silent conversation with Michael to make sure he's okay before letting Liz lead him out with Rosa.

They all get to the lot with their cars but wait to get in.

"That wasn't too mean was it?" Max asks.

Rosa nudges his shoulder and walks over to hang onto Liz.

"Nah she needed that. Felt like an intervention."

Everyone makes a noise of agreement then goes silent as the mood drops.

Knowing exactly how to break it, Dallas grins.

"So we still on for Max's? I really wanna try that acetone idea now."

It works and things start to shift into motion.

Everyone can see how antsy Alex and Michael are so they make quick goodbyes and voice their congratulations to let the happy couple leave.

Alex feels better, they both do and while staying in bed completely bare filled with love and skin is exactly what happens the second they pass through the door, they also do some of the other things they both enjoy.

Watching their favorite movie. Checking on their garden. Stopping by Sander's for a much smaller celebration dinner. Alex reading Michael some news about cyber security then Michael can share one about a new telescope. Talking and holding each other close through the late hours until sleep claims them only to repeat all those things again but with work and errands and reality, for the rest of their lives. Exactly what they know the other wants.

Ya'll I finally did it!!!! I watched season 2!!!!! Mostly skipped through and didn't watch that episode (cause I love myself) but if there was anyway I was gonna actually see and understand what was happening after episode 4 then this was it 😆 I'm still sad Patricia wasn't Max's mom so that would've made the bartender related to Max instead of Isobel. You know 👀👀👀👀 hmmm no I shouldn't say 🤭

Michael and Alex travel back in time to 1948 and meet Nora.

The night had been perfect.

Michael hadn’t always allowed himself to believe in such things, in things like perfect nights and cosmic love affairs, always afraid that the universe would right itself by balancing the books.

But tonight, he couldn’t bear to do that. Not when Alex was looking at him with that smile on his face. Not when Alex was walking down Main Street holding his hand. Not when they’d finished their meal with the glow of a good conversation still lingering between them two, when Alex had leaned in and kissed him over the table. There was no time to think about karmic retribution then, only that Michael had maybe finally learned his lesson of knowing when to hold onto a good thing when it was right in front of him, savor its sweetness in the here and now, and worry about everything else later. Or never. Maybe never.

Of course, things couldn’t always be like that, sparkling and perfect. Life was messy and cruel, and it had carved out craters in Michael where sadness would pool, sometimes with nowhere to go. As they lay there in bed later that night, the darkness inviting even darker thoughts, Michael thought about how he’d gotten here. He’d been unfortunate in so many ways. But he’d also been lucky in ways he was still wrapping his head around. Yes, he’d been in a literal spaceship crash, but because of his mother’s protection, he survived. And as a child, he’d known only of the evils humans were capable of, but he was now deeply, irrevocably loved by the only human that ever mattered.

And he knew he could say all this to Alex and he’d receive this darkness and somehow make it lighter. That was what made all the difference. It’d been a hard few months. Max’s terminal prognosis. Coffins with unknown contents. Suicidal bats. Villainous, genocidal fathers. Death all around. But he had Alex now.

Michael was quiet as he thought about all of this, staring at the ceiling for longer than he realized. “What are you thinking?” Alex asked, observing the distant look in his eyes, the weighty silence in the bedroom.

“I’m really an orphan now,” Michael said in a sort of matter-of-fact way that he hoped would cover up how sad the words inherently were.

Alex didn’t say anything, just pressed his palm against Michael’s chest as if to say, I’ve got you. He felt Michael relax into the weight of his arm, as if the action freed him to say more, knowing he’d be there to catch his words and the complicated feelings that undoubtedly came with them.

“You know, when I was a kid, I used to wonder who my parents were. But a lot of the time, I’d actually convince myself that they were dead. Because at least if they were dead, it was that they couldn’t get to me, not that they didn’t want to.”

He’d waited so long on that fence. Imagining that his parents were dead was one way to soften the blow of disappointment when no one ever came to take him away. But now he knew for sure. His parents were dead. He’d been abruptly cut off from roots he’d only just learned existed. Though, of course, some of that had been for the best. Some of those roots had decayed long ago, and he knew he should be happy to be rid of the rot. In a way, he was now truly free, from expectations, from any sort of legacy he’d never felt fit to carry anyway. But he didn’t feel free at all. He felt unmoored. Only Alex’s solid presence anchored him, kept him close to shore.

“I don’t want you to ever feel like there isn’t someone coming for you, Michael,” Alex said, soft and serious. To Michael, it sounded like an indulgence he hadn’t yet earned.

“I’m not a kid anymore,” Michael said, the ghost of a sad smile flickering on his face for just a moment.

“I know. But that has nothing to do with the fact that I—I love you.” Alex looked surprised at himself. It wasn’t the way he’d planned to say it, but that didn’t make it any less true.

Michael’s eyes widened before he broke into a wide grin.

“I can say it now?”

Alex looked embarrassed and giddy at the same time. “I guess, if you don’t want to leave me hanging—”

“I love you,” Michael said in his next breath, the words having bided their time on his tongue for half his life. “I love you more than you know.”

This is a sneak peak for @winged-fool cause she be Going Through It and I saw her post Malex which destroyed any impusle control I had at the moment! Another spite fic 😘 they're just so much fun to write okay. Currently titled "I know you better" but might be changed.

This is pretty much the start/ first part of the fic! Still have my opinions on this utterly dumb alien show (affeftionate) but god these 2 drive me insane and I've missed them

Michael is absolutely blissed out as he and Alex enjoy the afterglow. For the third time. God he really loves having anniversaries now.

Two years down and the rest of their lives to go.

"Gonna have to push that party another hour Alex. You made me inoperable for the next 40 minutes." The happy sigh he lets out is answered by Alex's who presses even closer to him.

"Sounds good."

After a good 10 minutes to calm down and get his brain back online, Michael has two glasses of water and an apple glide through the doorway.

"You feelin hot or cold?"

Hands skate slow and lightly over the bare skin of Alex's back, goosebumps rising as he shivers from the sensation.

"I feel like indulging so hot."

He tilts his head up for a quick kiss before nudging Michael to move.

That gets an eye roll but another quick kiss as Michael gets up to grab what they need from the bathroom. He throws a wink behind him as Alex's heavy gaze follows him.

Once Michael's beautiful body gets blocked by the doorframe, Alex rolls over and buries his face into Michael's pillow and melts.

Footsteps then soft lips trail up his spine before a warm damp towel wipes away the mess that's trying to dry, a gentle nudge makes him roll over to get to his front.

A second towel is handed to him without thought so he can get Michael's backside in their well done dance of cleaning up.

They enjoy a few more minutes of cuddling before both their phones alert them about reality.

Michael of course groans and goes to hide his face in Alex's neck as warm arms hold him in place.

"It's our anniversary so we can show up whenever we want."

They get 4 more alerts before resigning themselves that they have to leave their lovely bed to venture out for what their friends and family have planned.

Going through the quick routine of getting ready together. Turning or nudging, helping adjust clothes or grab needed items, doing their best to keep their hands and lips from wandering too much.

It's his and Michael's fucking anniversary so whatever happens, happens and he'll still be coming home.

Them yelling the others name as they run to each other! THE LYRICS HITTING EACH THING THEY SAY TO EACH OTHER!!! One or BOTH popping the question after Lover and then the "vow" segment of the song 😭 OR I'D EVEN JUST TAKE THEM SLOW DANCING TO IT OKAY.

Also if we’re really getting into it Liz and Maria both knew that the ‘museum guy’ meant a whole lot to Alex and was probably the only guy he ever discussed with them.So for them to have that convo in 1x13 which was basically yeah well Alex doesn’t have dibs but talk to him.That’s not the point.If this was someone Alex hooked up with but wasn’t interested interested in a relationship with sure absolutely.But he’s literally still in love with him he’s hopeful you know what the relationship meant to him and not only do you know all of this you said you wouldn’t go there again you saw his face…..that’s an absolute betrayal.

If this is the ONLY person you know your best friend has had a thing for and is still in love him you don’t go there.FULL STOP.Liz encouraging it is shitty too neither ask Alex the story they go over him which is not only petty but not something you’d do to a friend let alone a best friend.They just make the assumption that it doesn’t mean much because Michael veers more towards women and Alex has never said anything…..yeah Alex never says anything because you never ask him about anything.Kyle his high school bully showed more consideration to their relationship then his supposed best friends. Villains acknowledged their relationship above his best friends.Greg and Flint who haven’t spoken to Alex in years acknowledged the deep meaning of their relationship above his best friends.And that’s just messed up.

The whole love triangle was an absolute shit show that undercut so many relationships in the show.It wasn’t well done it was just there and completely stagnated every character’s growth.

Where do I even begin with Maria.

Season 1

Makes a joke about Alex's secret relationship being with Wyatt and finding it funny- (Wyatt who is an abusive racist dude who commits hate crimes and bear in mind she knows Alex was abused for being gay) IT'S GROSS.

Speaks about Alex's secret relationship guy being his home to Alex and literally feels his hopefulness because it is part of her alien ability and continues to pursue Michael in s2.

Maria (straight) outs Michael to Liz. That's not okay on any level.

When Liz tells Maria to speak to Alex before doing anything she ignores the advice and does what she wants.

She's really smug about Michael picking/pursuing her like she won.

Season 2

Pursues Michael at a funeral in front of Alex without talking to him.

Makes Michael's loved ones husband funeral about a relationship status

Slut shames a random woman who makes out with Michael when they were never exclusive

Enters a relationship with Michael where he has to be exclusive but she doesn't because she doesn't believe he could be faithful. That's reeks of harmful biphobia stereotypes.

Ignores Alex the whole time UNTIL she needs something.

When she appears at Alex's door she says they are even. AKA comparing Alex not telling her a secret that wasn't his to share to her pursuing the love of his life in front of him without any empathy and ignoring the whole time.

Bitches to Alex about Liz and wanting fuck all to do with her. Alex has to remind her Liz has a dead boyfriend and is struggling cause Maria only has Maria vision and lacks empathy for her 'best friends'.

Uses her mom's laptop to get the scope on Alex/Michael's relationship which reads 100% manipulative. She even says Michael is pushing you away and then proceeds to encourage the narrative where Michael pushes Alex away because she suddenly wants Michael. And of course Alex is supportive she recognises he lacks self worth and rolls over him.

Beginning of 2x06 she tries to set up Forlex to get Alex away from Michael. Once again manipulative.

Tries to make Alex feel guilty for being gay in 206 because when she was a kid she idealised being with him and had to come up with a whole new plan. He grew up in an abusive household you know that....It's not okay to say that. You know how much internalised homophobia he has.

When saying he's had good relationships provides only examples of relationships with women......................HE IS GAY.

Asks him if he would change being gay.......jfc.

Alex tearfully saying he dissociates with women because he clearly forced himself to out of internalised phobia, Maria takes it to mean she has a chance. She thinks she's the exception since a touch starved abuse victim liked to be touched by her in high school. That doesn't = consent.

When Alex, a whole ass Airforce Captain tells her it's unsafe to stay at the creepo's place she acts all I am feminist about it and this results in Alex being stabbed and Michael getting whacked on the head.

Earlier in the episode she whinges to Alex about Michael kissing another woman in front of her and how cruel it was and then proceeds to kiss Michael in front of Alex KNOWING how he feels for Michael.

In THAT scene it's clear she notices Michael's emotions towards Alex and is insecure about it. She uses Malex's feelings for each other to her advantage. She's chasing the fantasy of getting with Alex. These are two highly traumatised queer men who struggle to say no because they spent their lives in abusive environments.

Neither Michael or Alex were in a position to consent to sex that night Michael is concussed from a whack on the head . Alex has lost a lot of blood and is completely out of it. And neither would ever initiate that situation. Not to mention the assumption Michael would be down because he's bi is so harmful as a stereotype.

"I think she’s cool with her decision. She wanted some answers, so subconsciously there was an emotional comfort she needed. But she also had a little bit of an agenda. She needed some decisions made about the status of their relationships, so she thought, “Let’s throw everything against the wall and see where it lands.” I think she was just wondering if they made any progress on that front. She said it was OK for their feelings to be out in the open, but let’s just voice them for what they are. As we saw, Michael stepped up and was like, “No, I still love you and I’m with you.” Secretly, that’s what Maria was hoping for. By suggesting a threesome, she’s was basically telling Michael, “Make your choice… and I hope it’s me.” this is what Heather said about the scene. So not only was it coercive and such but she used her best friend like that with no care or empathy whatsoever. It's disgraceful.

The next day both Michael and Alex are confused by what the fuck happened. Alex due to his C-PTSD completely dissociates from the situation and Michael attempts to laugh it off despite him being hella confused. The only person who isn't confused is Maria who is listening to them from inside.

When Michael comes in she turns on the tears just in case he does want Alex afterwards. Bear in mind she is a psychic who can feel everything and she assumed Michael was going to go after Alex. Doesn't that say it all. SHE KNOWS MICHAEL IS IN LOVE WITH ALEX AND VICE VERSA. She does not care, because at the end of the day this is what she wants. She wants to win. She wants to treat Michael like this trophy that she can show off to people I got the great Michael Guerin not a relationship guy to date me.

When Michael wants to have emotional conversations she shuts it down for sex. The entirety of the relationship it has to be her way or the high way. She also recognises fairly on his abandonment issues and plays upon it, reads manipulative.

When Michael who has lost his mom and brother in the span of a few months asks Maria to be more careful about her abilities she doesn't listen. And ultimately breaks up with Michael when she can't get what she wants from him which is a yes man who will do what she says and isn't the idealised Michael she wants.

Season 3

Shits on Michael any chance she gets. She's so mean to him and he goes out of his way to look out for her.

Is dismissive of her own health despite the fact that everybody goes out of their way to help her. Liz is in California working on a way to help her. Kyle is risking his job.etc

Is fine with Liz, her best friend losing the love of her life to get a vision to prevent a murder. A vision she's only invested in because apparently in it she blames herself.

Is fine with Max or Kyle dealing with the guilt of her death had Michael not saved her.

Shoves Michael and belittles him because he's stronger then her. Infers he just sits on his ass and does nothing therefore does not care about anything....rude. There's also a weird superiority complex that her power is more important then Michaels or any of pod squad for that matter.

Creates a situation that is so bad that Kyle risks his doctors licence to give her adrenaline. Just take an ice bath or something there are a 1000 ways to give yourself adrenaline without risking your life and risking others.

Doesn't thank or acknowledge what Liz is doing for her honey has spent a FULL YEAR of her life trying to help and your just like yeah I'll let her soulmate die for my visions.

Emotionally guilts Isobel for not hanging out with her despite the fact she's hated her for two seasons and now has just randomly decided she wants to know......okay

This idea that Maria is suddenly lonely when she's the second of the main cast (first being Kyle) to have scenes with all the mains by Monday. Literally everyone is there at her beck and call but Maria is lonely??? IT DOESN'T ADD UP. Everyone's up her arse 9/10 how is she lonely everyone expresses concern and care for her ALL THE DAMN TIME. She's also narratively never had scenes that give the connotation that she is lonely. Michael has scenes that connotate he is lonely. Max and Alex do too. Maria has yet to have scenes that give the connotation of feeling lonely or depressed.

Maria comparing the alien siblings to her and feeling left out when she acts superior to them and they are literally siblings. Literally every character is somewhat left out with Pod Squad they've lived their lives assuming it's just them three against the world it's not a personal attack.

Maria is 1/8 alien at best so diluted genetically it doesn't show up and somehow she believes she has the capability of the aliens who are 100%. Say you have French DNA you don't expect to speak French suddenly.

This whole Maria never does wrong narrative and it's empowering that she's doing all of this just feels like a crock of shit tbh.

She reads like a 2000's movie mean girl.

All of my bullet points are why I don't like h Maria and it's not biased because I'm a so and so fan. Narratively she just wins up doing shitty things to Michael and Alex the most.
