For roughly six years no one really knew who Melanthe Mulciber was – not really. Of course they knew her last name and how powerful her family were and just what exactly they thought of those who were not of ‘pure’ blood but they didn’t really know her. Or what she was capable of for that matter. You see what Melanthe did was wait. She waited and she watched and learned everything she could about the people around her – who had potential, who was weak, who could be swayed – and when the time was right she made herself known. Vindictive, cruel and with the kind of charm that makes your skin go ice cold she quickly gained the respect of her fellow Slytherins and the fear of everyone else. You do not want to cross this girl and you especially do not want to get on her bad side because once you’re on her radar there’s no way you’re making it out alive. Lanthe is a pathological liar and you’ll know exactly where you stand with her, even her closest of friends still feel on edge around her as if she could snap at any given moment. She borderlines between calm, collected, calculating and impulsive, temperamental and just downright terrifying. If there’s one thing that you shouldn’t ever question about her it’s that she hates mudbloods more than anything and if it were up to her they’d all be wiped off the map right there and then.

Melanthe isn’t exactly shy about her opinions and when she wants something she goes out and she gets it. If it comes to a War – and it will come to a War – Lanthe knows exactly where she’ll be standing and that’s by the Dark Lord’s side. Admittedly the guys who share her enthusiasm can be a little on the doubtful side of her abilities but there’s nothing she enjoys more than proving other people wrong especially when it means causing a little discomfort at the least. Make no mistake this girl might be able to put on a pretty smile but she is all sharp edges. As deceptive as she is it’s hard to hide that level of sadism and no matter how hard she tries she can’t fight who she really is and why should she? What’s so wrong with liking to feel powerful, special, in control? Nothing. When she’s not striking the fear of God into the first years you can find her rolling her eyes at the antics of her peasants – oh no wait – peers. She finds little enjoyment in mundane things and will often go out of her way to find a little fun around here and her version of fun definitely comes with a safety warning.

AVERY: Everyone finds someone in this life who compliments them perfectly. Avery is that person for Lanthe. The two have been friends ever since first year and together they are a force to be reckoned with. Admittedly she is more the brains while Avery is very hex happy but still they have each other’s backs. Avery is loyal to her and that is a quality that Lanthe can easily admire. Sometimes she does treat her like a sidekick but friend or not Lanthe was never very good at sharing.

BLAKE BLACK: Lanthe hates that she seems to crave his attention – his approval even. There’s just something about the oldest Black brother that makes her hackles rise. He is infuriating but he is also dangerous and powerful and everything that she’s attracted too. He underestimates her which she hates but it also leaves her room to prove herself. Blake has no idea what kind of a trip he’s in for here.

PETRA PETTIGREW: As before mentioned Lanthe spent a good amount of time watching and she noticed Petra. One quarter of those insufferable Marauders you’d think that she’d be one of the least corruptible people at Hogwarts and yet Lanthe sees something in her. Lanthe sees just how to use her insecurities against her. How to use fear to get Petra to do whatever she wants. Who knows? This might turn out to be her greatest conquest yet.

MAX MACDONALD: Max MacDonald is a mystery to Lanthe in the sense that she has never felt more attached to a mudblood before. As far as she’s concerned he is hers. There was a little run in between them last year and she made sure she left her mark and honestly after that she expected to move to the next great thing but there’s something about this good natured little golden boy that makes her tick. She doesn’t know whether to be excited or furious at herself or at him… Either way she knows that she is not done with him. Not yet.
