I do enjoy the theories that Tamaru is actually a Bo-Matoran and related theories about Kapura and Midak, but I鈥檓 going to have to say these theories aren鈥檛 true in the Rebuiltverse. Matoran that act slightly outside of the norm having to be something else sort of flattens the Matoran鈥檚 characters. People aren鈥檛 homogenous and neither are Matoran. That said, there are definitely Matoran beyond the main six elements caught up on Mata Nui; Tamaru, Kapura, and Midak are not them.
A little note on Tamaru: being scared of heights isn鈥檛 contradictory to being a Le-Matoran. Le-Matoran are inherently agile, not acrophilic. In the Bohrok Online Animations they are just as agile as Kongu.

Kiora, Witch of the Pallid Coast
Reclusive witch of the Pallid Coast, Kiora carries on the research of her late adoptive father, Donovan the Arcanist, who sought to understand the peculiar Paletide and the transient apparitions from which manifest. Kiora, who too was carried into this world on the silver waters, did not fade with the passing of the full Moon as had the specters before her.
With the rise of the Nightmare plague, the Paletide now stirs in unsettling motions, the blood-red Moon casting sinister shadows within the waves. Perturbed by this omen, Kiora鈥檚 gaze turned to the city of Somnum from which the Nightmare was born.
Moonlit Glaive
This finely crafted polearm was forged by Donovan the Arcanist, who possessed many talents. He taught Kiora how to wield a blade at a young age.
The crystals imbedded in the blade were shed from Kiora in adolescence and can channel the arcane. As such, this glaive additionally serves as an excellent catalyst.
