Deep, complex and sometimes mysterious, emotions are fundamental to the human condition. They color our days and have a profound impact on the way we feel about our lives. Although all people should be able to control their personal emotions, there are times when that is not the case – when, actually, emotions control us. Korean artist Xooang Choi has created an impressive body of work that shows us the realism of the human emotion frozen in an instant. His art reveals the raw reality of modern life ordinary people face every day if they don’t confront the outer world. The artist’s interest focuses on social systems that manage and control people, their behavior and feelings more than ever before.[1]

WORK PLAN
Name of the student - Monika Sabaityte
Your main topic/research question - the unlimited manipulation of ones human body
Conflict/binary - How would a person construct his/her body when he has absolute freedom. The task itself has no restrictions. However, the person, by doing the tasks provided, subconsciously restricts himself upon doing various acts. The aim is to see how far do people let their imagination stretch.
Argumentation - Let’s imagine a fictional future world in which people are free to structure, and manipulate the bodies of their future selves. Here they can unleash their imaginations, morph the human body to appear something which isn’t body-like at all. The only catch is that whatever they create - they will become.
Research plan - gather 30ish interviews form different types of people I know (same for the contrary). Document their answers, make them draw what they would want to potentially look like. Gather data about which types of foreign objects are usually attributed to people.
Experimentation + types of documentation - I will experiment with different types of people. I will question people from a similar background to mine; people that have nothing to do with design; people that take extra good care of their looks; people that don’t really care about the way they look; middle-aged people, elder people and so forth. I will document all of this in a temporarily undefined form of a booklet
Structure and realistic time table - 2 weeks for intense questionnaire + gathering data
Format of the final piece -  booklets with people’s answers (anonymous) + 3d models of some ( or all?) of people’s imagined bodies
Project realization + types of documentation -  I want the project to be shown in various different areas. I will document the realization by filming peoples reactions, asking them what there reflections are, and would they want such a world to exist.
