âHa-ha,â Eli deadpanned, rolling her eyes playfully as Maisie took the coffee, âvery funny.â She figured sheâd set herself up for that one. Fair enough. At the girlâs response, she couldnât help but crack a smile. Despite everything that had gone down between them, Eli still really enjoyed spending time with Maisie. Sure, they still had their moments of being weird and jealous of each other, as was expected, but for the most part they were actually doing a pretty good job at maintaining a friendship. At Maisieâs question, Eli scrunched up her face and tapped a finger on her chin, pretending she actually had to think about it. âDuh, Iâm asking if you wanna hang out,â the brunette finally confirmed, raising her eye brows suggestively as she reached behind her back to untie her apron, âjust give me five minutes.â Eli made her way to the register and clocked out, then beelined to the break room to hang up her apron in her locker and grab her jacket and her bag. The whole thing took a few minutes max and in no time, she was at Maisieâs side, giving her a little nudge. âLetâs dip. Any minute spent here where Iâm not making a buck is a complete waste,â she insisted as she grabbed Maisieâs arm and nearly dragged her out of the coffee shop. âWhatâre you doing out and about anyway?â the brunette asked, basking in the warm breeze that hit them once they were outside, âalso do you want to smoke? Because I just got this new strain thatâs allegedly very mellow and fun.âÂ
Maisie sipped on her coffee with a grin stuck to her face as she waited for Eli to finish up her end of shift duties at work. While she had felt that she was never given a chance by the St. James family, she had never held it against Eli. It was a weird and complicated time for the both of them when they were together and even through Maisies stubborn ways, she could understand why that family turned their cheeks when she was around. âI had to run a few errands.â She stated as they exited the coffee shop. âAnd both of my dads are home and I was not in the mood to hear about how I need to start making a life plan for myself.â She continued to add on, âIâm still a child, I have plenty of time for that.â Though what she said wasnât exactly true, itâs really how the girl felt. She didnât think that now was the age that she needed to have everything figured out. âOh, of course.â She replied, giving no hesitation to the other females question. âAnything that keeps me on cloud nine and away from my responsibilities is a absolute yes from me.â

WHO: @maisiesterlingduval¡ & @eli-stjames¡
WHEN: Tuesday, July 14
WHERE: The Lima Bean
Eli was so over working at The Lima Bean, but she knew her parents and grandads would start asking questions if she just up and quit. Outside of school, her coffee shop job was the only thing she seemingly had going for her, so she needed it to keep up appearances. She couldnât have her parental figures thinking she was getting her money in an illegal wayâŚeven though she definitely was. So even though she hated every minute of her life spent taking orders or making sugary coffee drinks for Limaâs locals, she did it anyway to keep people off her back. Such was the case on this particular evening when she was wrapping up her shift. It hadnât been a particularly hard shiftâjust a lot of the usual customers and same old bullshit. Eli was watching the clock intently, and just as she was about to clock out, her co-worker asked her to make one more drink. With a groan, she agreed, and as soon as sheâd made the order she held up the cup to see what the customerâs name was. âMaisie!â she called out, pleasantly surprised to see that the Maisie in question was Maisie Sterling-Duval as she approached the counter. âWow, look who it is,â Eli joked, holding out the cup and handing it to her ex turned friendâŚsort of, âitâs rude to stalk me at my place of work, you know.â Eli grinned and leaned forward against the counter as the girl took her beverage, âyou doing anything right now? Because Iâm about to get off.â Eli stuttered and backtracked. âGet off my shift, not like get off. Whatever. You know what I mean.âÂ
Maisie had no intention of stopping for coffee today, her daily plan was to return a pair of sneakers she bought that didnât fit right and head back home to lay on the couch and channel surf until she was harassed by her dads for being lazy. But, as she passed The Lima Bean on her walk back home, she couldnât help herself from stopping in to see her favorite ex-girlfriend. After placing an order for a small black coffee, she leaned against the back wall and waited for her name to be called and for Eli to notice she was there. Maisie stood in the coffee shop, making it a point to look around at whatever was near her so she wouldnât get caught watching her ex make her drink. She was fiddling with unopened creamers on a table next to her when her attention was called back to where she had placed her order. âNo, not a single thing.â She took her coffee, âI got off earlier.. You know, from work.â Sometimes Eli just made it too easy for her to tease, and Maisie was never type of girl to pass that up. âWhy? Are you asking if I wanna hangout? Because I definitely have the time to spare.â

Mason had finally got out of the house with just him by himself and it felt great. He had finished his two hours at the gym and now he was ready to grab some coffee and get ready to go drink tonight. He hasnât partied in so long that he was itching to go, but of course coffee and well what kind of guest would he be without supplying some alcohol himself. ââLiquor or beer,â he asked as he turned to the person next to him holding both.
@limastartersâ
Maisie was in the store picking out energy drinks to throw into the fridge at home, already knowing that she would be too lazy to stop the next day to get them before her shift. Grabbing two from the cooler, she started to head up to the counter to pay when she was caught by another persons voice. It took her just a few seconds to weigh the options before she replied, âBeer, duh.â She pointed âLiquor is way too hard on the soul.â

Lemon took a sip of her coffee as she listened to her sister talk about practice. âWell, they are six year olds. Iâm not sure if they can retain that information very well,â she said, a light laugh leaving her lips as she sat her cup down. âNo,â she disinterestedly spoke. âI donât write love notes and especially not to Theo,â she shook her head, tapping her fingers on the notepad. âIâm actually choreographing the musical so⌠working that on paper,â she explained, folding her arms on the table.
When the waiter came around to ask if they needed anything, Maisie put in an order for large fries with extra nacho cheese and chili on top of them. âOh please, when I was six I was hitting dingers out of the park.â She remarked, grinning as she remembered how much she loved to play when she was that age. âI canât believe Limas next top couple doesnât express their love through cheesy writings.â She faked gasp, putting a hand to her chest âI totally thought Theo would at least pass you notes saying âLoved your butt at cheer practice today.ââ Maisie used her best male voice at the last part, shrugging her shoulders when she was finished. âWhats the musical?â

Amelia wasnât really fond of strangers just sitting next to her out of nowhere. She would enjoy her time alone by reading a book or watching something while eating. Usually sheâd just tell the person to fuck off, but was way too tired and just not in the mood for a discussion, âYeah, sureâ she shrugged, her voice monotonous
Maisie took note of the tone in the other girls voice. Looking over the menu, she kept glancing to look at her. âYou look really bummed out.â She finally said, setting the menu back down on the table. Even though her stomach was crying for food, she figured that it could wait a minute. âIâm a certified good listener, you know.â She started to say, âWell, not if you ask anyone in my family, but everything they say is always so boring. Like how do they expect me to listen while they talk about theater? We get it, the police officer is in love with the guy who stole bread and wants to track him down to get back together. I donât need to watch it anymore.â Maisie stopped herself before she began to rant even more, realizing that she was the one who was supposed to be listening. âBut yeah, I can listen if you need to talk.â

Lemon Sterling-Duval was a planner and with the musical coming up and with her being asked to be choreographer after her years of helping in the theatre department, she was now sitting in a diner in the late afternoon, jotting down choreography and counts on her notepad, and sipping on a black coffee. She barely noticed when someone sat down in front of her and when she looked up, she saw the face of her older sister. âUm, I so mind the company,â she joked with a teasing smile. âHow was practice?â She asked, cocking an eyebrow, twirling her pen in her right hand.
She brushed leftover dirt off her thigh and let a tired smile cross her face, âPractice was.. exhausting.â She didnât even bother looking at the menu she had picked up, she already knew what she wanted and just had to wait for the waiter to make his rounds again. âItâs like they forget everything Iâve taught them every single practice.â Maisie shook her head, glancing over at the notepad her sister had. âWhat are you doing?â She questioned, raising her brows slightly âWriting love notes to your lover boy?â

CJ had been so absorbed by how good his burger was and cherishing every bite that he didnât even notice when someone took a seat across from him in the booth until they spoke up. He jumped a little in surprise and looked across at her with wide eyes. He swallowed down his mouthful with a sip of coke before wiping at his mouth. âOh, no! yeah, go for it,â he told her, waving at the side she was already inhabiting. âI donât mind at all. That is, if you donât mind eating with a slob.â he laughed.Â
Maisie peeled open the closed menu she had picked up, quickly skimming it before peeking over it to look at what the male had on his plate then over to him. She couldnât help but chuckle at his words, âWell, according to my dads Iâm a totally messy eater. So, if you donât mind then I donât either.â She grinned, slapping the menu back down from where she had picked it up. When the waiter approached to ask how everything was, Maisie went ahead and put her order in. Ordering a cheeseburger with extra pickles and fries on the side, not forgetting to ask for a Dr. Pepper to drink. âYour burger looked too good, I needed to get one of my own.â She commented.
