“Oh. No! No, i’m sorry. You were here first. I thought you were just speaking to me. I ah,” She looked quickly down at her phone where amusingly her brother had leaned forward more into the camera. He waited until he noticed Zia looking down at him that he quickly whispered ‘who is that?!? Is that Siren!?’ before she quickly covering him up with a hand and smiled Sienna’s way. “Just my brother. He’s not that important that you have to step away. But, actually, I’m thinking these fireworks are late? 8 o’ clock on the dot was what I heard earlier. Now it’s....Zech, what time is it?” Zia frowned at  her phone forgetting her current call with him blocked the display of her time. “9:12..” her brother Zechariah replied before trying to look more at Sienna. Zia covered him again and smiled. “It’s 8:12. They’re late.”
Tumblr media
Sienna’s head turned in the direction of the voice talking, though her gaze turned forward as soon as she realized that the person wasn’t addressing her. Her voice was sweet, and it seemed as though she was chatting with a family member - a sibling, perhaps? Sienna felt bad for prying, but curiosity was very nearly one of her hallmarks. More importantly, however, she had felt the other girl’s presence before she heard her voice, and her hands twitched as soon as she sensed a life form. More and more, Sienna was starting to hate her power, despise its existence and wish she’d never been gifted with it. It was a cruel thing, really, the ability to control another by manipulating their blood. The more she thought about it, the more inhuman it seemed. Then again, that was what she was, in a sense… The girl addressed her, and Sienna snapped out of her thoughts at once. “Oh, I was just asking what time the fireworks started. But, if you’ve got a phone call to take, I don’t mind stepping away for a bit,” Sienna offered gently.

emerie-ducain:
“I could name a few who might’ve run off with it just to spit me, but I probably just misplaced it.” The words came out on a sigh, Emerie already over the whole situation. If this was how it was going to go then she’d just keep all her stuff in her room. It was a hassle but it’d be protected from people who wanted to screw with her. “Uh-huh,” Emerie nodded, straightening slightly at the sheer awe radiating from the other girl. There was a small bit of pride that bubbled deep in the pit of her stomach–she didn’t wow people often. Especially not with something as trivial as where she’d lived. Though London was a bit mysterious to many of the people of the United States. A destination commonly traveled for vacation and the like. “All of that is true except for the last bit. Buckingham Palace is north of me. Across the river. I’m from south London.” She’d already said too much too fast and Emerie was growing to dislike the topic of conversation. She wasn’t one to talk about herself willingly–questions brought curiosity and curiosity brought nosy people. But she was rather good at saying a lot without actually saying anything at all. “That’s not really an answer,” she pointed out, eyeing the other girl for a moment before shrugging and letting out a light sigh. “Dunno,” she shrugged. “Never been on one before. Don’t know much about the Hollywood myth, either. But it does rain a lot.”
Tumblr media
She only imagined how it was like to live in London. She imagined herself there, in the rain, the river, visiting someplace south of Buckingham Place. Zia was amazed that Emerie hadn’t rode a double deckker bus. She always figured that was the local transportation equivalent to their bus systems and the like back home. “That’s really really cool,” she mused aloud with a soft nod. Closing the cabinets and stepping away from them, Zia took a moment to re-evaluate Emerie’s call for an true answer to where she was from. “Well it’s small. Really small....you probably wouldn’t even know where it is or where to find it on a map if I told you the name of my town. Everyone know’s each other, their families, and....I don’t know...that’s about as exciting as it gets.” She gave a light shrug hoping that was a better enough answer. Then she sprung up another question with a quick grin, hoping to lead them  away from talking about her home. “Wanna run somewhere and get you some more tea? Then I can pick you up some of those great American snack cakes while we’re at it. We’ll keep and hide our own secret stashes.”

moonandtldes:
“Wow, way to lead a guy on,” he brought a hand up to clutch his chest, an obviously fake. yet quite exaggerated expression of betrayal on his face. “I thought I was dealing with a real rebel here,” he turned his expression into a pout, before breaking the whole act off with a smile. “But living next to your best friend sounds so cool; that never happened to me, and I moved around a lot,” he commented, oblivious to the girl’s change of demeanour.
“A sporty girl, sweet,” he shot a grin, nodding once. “Tried my hand at those – sports, I mean. Wasn’t really good at them,” he shrugged. He’d never really been good at a lot of things. “I guess it could be a good motivation if you were really into it though. What did you play?”
Tumblr media
"Basketball, a little track...mostly Volleyball, though. I was a big sport for us back home. Partially because you can play it anytime, anywhere...kinda.  Sports is definitely something you have to train yourself  AND your body to get used to so, it is kinda a big task..."  She shrugged and gave a laugh, hand rubbing up her arm. She didn't want to come off as boastful by any means, Sports was just...her thing. And it was nice to be able to talk about it to someone just for this brief moment. Then she smiled back at Sean with a toss of her head. "You said you've moved around? Where all have you been?" Moving around sounded almost like...a dream, truthfully. To see other places than the same streets and roads she'd pretty much grew up seeing.

“It’s also amazing for me, as an African-American actress, I will forever be known as Iris West to a lot of young girls, and that is amazing. That’s amazing. Not only that, but she’s been reimagined in the comic books as African-American, and Wally West has, too. That gives access to comic books to such a diverse group of people and that’s everything I can hope for.”

“A cup of coffee? Seriously?” She looked at the boy incredulously, not to reprimand him (her Dad couldn’t figure out how to make a great cup of coffee either if his life depended on it) but in partial shock. Then there was the knock on her head that, hello Zia, not everyone waited on tables in a small diner long enough to be able to make a quality cup in their sleep. “Alright, i’ll show you how. Long as you promise to keep a secret...” She strolled over to pick up a cup, preparing the area to show how it’s done.
Tumblr media
“Do you have any idea how to make actual decent coffee? Because I uh, can’t seem to figure it out. This tastes terrible.”

“I know right? Isn’t it the coolest at night? It literally looks like something straight out of...I dunno. Gotham or something....” Further from where the girl was standing, Zia happily mused at her phone with a laugh, currently video chatting her brother. “They said something about fireworks earlier, so...I hope they actually start them before Ma sends you guys to bed.---Huh?” Sienna’s voice caught her ears and startled her not realizing someone else had the idea to make this their firework watching spot. She muttered something to her brother and brought her phone close to her. “I’m sorry, did you say something to me?” She asked. The girl may have been talking among her own self (or to some...unknowing power. Who knew anymore.)
Tumblr media
“I heard that there would be fireworks,” Sienna spoke to no one in particular, words falling off her tongue rather aimlessly as she stared at the city skyline. The first day of spring, like many other annual occurrences, rendered a parade of sorts in Metro City, as she had quickly realized upon moving. “I hope I haven’t missed them.”

“Heck yeah it is. Oh my god I have to Google it later. Just when you think they’ve run out of titles, they never cease to amaze...” Zia began to grin, Felix soft pause actually doing the titles justice when it came to the names hitting her ears for the first time. Then she blink widely, his suggestion catching her off. “Collaborate? On the games? What do you mean?”
Tumblr media
Felix knew that Zia, a fellow fan, would be just as excited as he was. “It’s coming out later this year,” he said, “it’s a totally new one, with a new Pokedex and starters and everything. It’s called-” He paused for effect. “-sun and moon. Pretty sick, right? We should collaborate!”

“It’s tea, it seriously can’t be far. Who’d run off with a box of tea all for themselves when all the stuff to make it is right in here?” Zia gave a small shrug and turned to pursue her search again before her eyes lit up. “London? As in Big Ben, rainy days, the Royal Family as your next door neighbors?” Zia asked with heightened awe. Traveling was her niche anyways but she never imagined she’d ever get to personally see or meet any of the people actually from the destinations she dreamed to visit. Her reaction was a bit exaggerated, but the excitement behind her eyes was completely genuine. When the question came back to her, however, she  simply wavered it away really quick. “No place as big and awesome as London is,” she didn’t disclose any further details about her hometown. Details piqued curiosity and if she named exactly where she was from, what was stopping anyone from doing a quick Google Search and reading about the abnormal quake that rattled the town? “ What’s one of those double buses like? It’s it seriously always rainy and foggy there? Or is that just Hollywood’s myth? ”
Tumblr media
“What gave it away?” Emerie said, joking. For a moment she listened to the other girl talk, her face falling towards the end of the explanation. She’d hoped people would have left her things alone–which was incredibly ironic for her. She used to take things that belonged to other people. The world didn’t owe her anything just because she’d agreed to enroll in the EPTP. It would take from her just like she’d taken from other people–and if it was as good as she had been, then Emerie had a few things coming her way that would more than likely not be fun for her. But she’d known that for some time. “I’ve probably just misplaced it,” she admitted. “Or someone moved it for some reason. I’m sure I’ll stumble upon it at some point.” Looking over as the other girl rummaged in an attempt to help, Emerie sat back on her heels, letting out a sigh. “London,” the answer left her lips a few seconds after the question was asked–a brief pause so that she could consider answering truthfully. “What about you?”

Zia opened her mouth to reply back to him but nothing came out. This guy was so amazingly conceited yet his charisma about it didn’t even make it that obnoxious  yet. “Unbelievable,” Partially impressed, Zia shook her head as he’d won a smile from her. Joking as well she closed her mailbox, simply taking the one envelope and holding it close to her. “Is that your power? Reading minds? Because you’ve nailed exactly what I was thinking spot on.”
Tumblr media
“I’m basically taking that as ‘you’re super cute and I’ve fancied you since I got here’,” he said dryly. “In which case, you’re not bad yourself and do you want a drink?” Felix winked exaggeratedly, serious only in how much he was joking.

"Is there a reason why you’re just singling Spider-Man out? What about Superman or The Flash or even Captain America? What actually can they do other than fly, run fast, and uphold a enormously large morale of liberty and justice for all?”
Tumblr media
“You know,” he says. “I feel like this whole having-powers thing has ruined  superhero movies for me. I mean, Spi- der-Man’s great and all, but what can he actually do?”

With no hesitance she knelt down next to him, partially creating a block for anyone else to go around them than come close. Despite a sixth sense in the back of her head saying that maybe he didn’t want her help, Zia wasn’t going to just leave him sitting there looking pained out of his misery. She wouldn’t leave a teammate down on the court, and the same wouldn’t go for a fellow super. “Let me help you up, at least move you away from right here. Do you think you could make it over there to that chair?” She nodded over at it while reaching to take his arm and offer her shoulder to support him. “C’mon. We’ll move real slow.”
Tumblr media
It took too long for him to return to reality. By the time he noticed the other’s presence, he had sucked one too many breaths to keep the sickness down. She hovered near, and too many voices grew in volume, clamoring in FIGHT or FLIGHT. It made him want to recoil, to push himself back and be left alone.
He remained still. Took another breath.
“Define okay,” he managed to say. From anyone else, there would be a lilt to the tone, something akin to joking. From him, it sounded stoic, deadpan. Clearing his throat, he amended, “I’ve certainly been better, but — I’ll be okay soon.”
Tumblr media
Just how soon was the question, but he wouldn’t dwell.                  It would hurt him in the long run, and that was unacceptable right now.
