it felt like a knife just ripped through newt’s heart as he craddled the thunderbird’s head in his lap. he could feel it’s strained breathing. it almost felt like he could feel the same pain and suffering the bird was in.
most would say newt would rather die than see his pets get hurt, but in the moment, there was nothing he could do to change the inevitable. frank was dying and it would take more than a mircale to stop that and THAT was something the wizard did not have. he also did not wish to see the thunderbird suffer in such a manner. frank suffered in silence. newt couldn’t bring himself to say much.
❝ oh frank, ❞ the words came out almost inaudibly. his wished to try and comfort the dying bird, but he was choking on his tears as he pet him, slowly and gently, ❝ i am so sorry. i never meant for this, ANY of this to happen. ❞

“You are my sunshine”
her head rested in his arms, a blank look seemed to wipe itself across his face. the amount of emotions he felt could not depict itself as one simple expression, but spoke many things in his eyes. he seemed to bite his lip as she spoke softly to him, unable to fully comprehend that she was leaving him.
newt couldn’t bring himself to believe it. she did everything for him and in the end did the ultimate thing. she was dying for him. the wizard’s gaze fell away from her, he felt the hot tears roll down his cheek even though he didn’t even realize he had started to cry.
she couldn’t die. not like this and not for him. she had no right to. there was a part of him that was angry at her too for what she had done, but the sadness and pain seemed to crush the anger like a wave does a sand castle.
❝ please don’t go. ❞
there was a crack in his voice as he whispered the words to her. it seemed to be the only three words that made its say to his tongue through the mess of thoughts in his head.
