everytime i tell europeans my favorite cuisine is texmex & sonoran they are like “American bastardized Mexican food?” and i feel like im going insane. its not bastardized. its their fucking cuisine.
#okay yes but also these additions are ignoring the /actual/ complaint from the original#tejanos did not emigrate. some of them did but like. the culture itself and the origin of that food type#was not ///brought in/// to America because America was formed AFTER that#like texmex is not the same as Chinese American food or Italian American food#it existed before America
