Chapter 3: The True Nature of Their Encounter
Silva invites Katarina to follow him to the party venue.
Katarina starts moving but then realizes that her hair is entangled around Silva's button. She tries to pull it free, but she only makes things worse. She ends up stuck in place with her head on Silva's chest.
Looking at her, Silva sighs and tears off his button. Katarina feels sorry that Silva had to damage his stage costume for her sake. She wants to fix it somehow and scans the room in search of something she could use. She finds a sewing box.
Katarina happily asks Silva to take off his clothes. Silva assures her he doesn't mind the missing button. He also advises her to be more careful of the words she uses. Katarina insists. Silva sighs and gives her his vest and the button.
Since she knows how to make embroidery, Katarina feels confident that she can sew the button back, but she ends up struggling. When she is finally done, Silva informs her that he is late now.
Katarina realizes that Silva is probably tied to a schedule since he is a performer. She panics and invites Silva to run full speed to the party venue. She starts lifting her skirt, but Silva stops her and assures her that he will be fine as long as he is only a little late. Katarina thinks running while lifting her skirt would be fine since there's no one in the corridor. But she doesn't argue so they can hurry to the party venue.
Silva and Katarina leave the storage room.

When they reach the party venue, a "performer" comes to them. The "performer" is relieved to see Silva but is surprised to see Katarina. Silva apologizes for his lateness and tells him they will stick to the plan.
Silva and Katarina enter the party venue. All eyes are on them. Katarina guesses it must be because Silva is cosplaying.
Katarina finds her friends in the crowd. Upon seeing her, her friends feel relieved at first but then take a grim look. Katarina guesses they must have been worried about her. She is about to rush over and apologize to them when Silva firmly grabs her arm and pulls her back.
Silva urges the crowd to obey him if they don't want to get hurt. Other "performers" dressed as pirates also rush inside and threaten the crowd. Looking at them, Katarina wonders if they are doing it as part of a sideshow.
Katarina tries to go back to her friends but her arm is still held back. Silva advises her not to move. He shoots at tableware as a warning. From this, Katarina realizes that Silva is using a real gun.
Other pirates rush inside from the windows. The party venue has become agitated. Katarina is still puzzled about what is happening.
Katarina tells Silva that he really shouldn't use real guns in a show. Silva is surprised and wonders if Katarina is carefree or just an idiot. Katarina replies that people often say that she is carefree. Silva wonders if it is really good for her to be so carefree. Then he pulls himself together as he realizes that Katarina has dragged him into her pace again.
Silva clears his throat and introduces his group as the Weiss Pirates. Katarina feels bothered by the word "pirates" and tries to remember where she heard it. The nobles in the crow are frightened. The pirates are taking them away one by one.
The pirates are now asking Geordo and the others to come with them. Geordo asks Silva to release Katarina. Silva feels amused by Geordo's request even in this situation. He assures him that they will treat them well because they will fetch a high price, including Katarina. Then, Silva forcefully pulls Katarina towards him. Geordo and the others's faces turn grim. Geordo asks Silva what he is planning to do with Katarina. Silva assures him he doesn't need to worry. He and his men won't "touch the goods" since they are valuable, and they won't hurt them as long as they behave.
The pirates take Geordo and the others away. Everyone looks at Katarina with worry as they leave.
After they're gone, Katarina asks Silva where his men took her friends. Silva is amazed that Katarina is still not fazed despite the situation. Katarina thinks to herself that it is because she can't help seeing him as a performer. Silva tells Katarina that they will lock all her friends together in a room. They won't do anything to them as long as they don't get violent.
Silva is troubled about what to do regarding Katarina. Katarina has seen things so he doesn't want her to spill them to her friends. Katarina promises him she won't tell anything and asks him to let her join her friends. Silva calls to her attention that she doesn't even know what she must not spill. Katarina admits it but assures him she won't spill anything that he tells her to keep secret. Even so, Silva decides he would rather keep Katarina close to hand. Katarina is disappointed by Silva's lack of trust in her.
Katarina panics about getting separated from her friends. She attempts to run to them. Silva stops her and happily lifts her on his shoulder, like a bag of potatoes. Katarina struggles, but with no success.

Still carrying her on his shoulder, Silva takes Katarina to a guest cabin. He lets her down and explains that he can't let her stay in her original room. He asks her to stay put there and tells her he will bring her meals and some change of clothes.
Katarina thanks Silva for his unexpected thoughtfulness. Silva is surprised she would thank him for confining her all alone. Katarina didn't realize she was confined. Silva explains that he will put a guard outside her room and have her stay put (though, until Geordo and the others can't endure being apart from Katarina anymore).
Katarina is now convinced that Silva and the other performers are real pirates. She starts getting worried about the others, especially the girls who might get hit on by the pirates.
Seeing her frowning, Silva asks her if she feels lonely without the others, and jokingly offers to sleep with her. But Katarina doesn't react and honestly replies that she is just worried about her friends.
Silva is dumbfounded by Katarina's lack of reaction to his joke despite being a woman of marriageable age. He tells her he is worried about whether she'll become an adult someday. Katarina proudly replies that she is already an adult. Silva recalls that Sorcier people reach their coming of age at fifteen. Even so, he fixedly stares at Katarina from top to bottom as a way to clearly show his skepticism about her adulthood. Katarina is annoyed. Silva shrugs it off and tells Katarina to become a fine woman while giving her a head pat.
Silva leaves. Before exiting the room, he reminds Katarina to be good since there is a guard outside her room.
A few hours later, a pirate comes to deliver Katarina's luggage. Katarina changes into her usual dress.
Staying alone in the room has made Katarina feel uneasy. She ponders about what could happen now that they have been captured by pirates. Based on what she read in mangas and novels, pirates may sell them or use them for ransom. She realizes that she is in a dire situation and that she possibly won't see her friends ever again. She is also worried about Keith who might be feeling helpless alone at the sick bay. She decides that she absolutely needs to reunite with everyone.
Katarina decisively walks to the door but she can't open it. It seems to be locked from the outside.
Katarina asks the pirate guards if she can talk to Silva. One of the pirates goes fetch Silva since he was ordered to be flexible with her. Katarina is surprised and happy that her requests went so smoothly.
Silva arrives. He asks her if she called for him because she felt lonely. Katarina tells him she is worried about her friends and would like to directly confirm that they are safe. Silva refuses and tells her that instead, he will sleep with her.
Silva lifts Katarina on his shoulder. Katarina hates it but Silva enjoys seeing Katarina flustered.
Silva tosses Katarina on the bed and looms over her. "Now, sleep like a good girl." Silva moves his face close to hers and cups her cheek.
Because of the close distance, Katarina can take a good look at Silva's face. She realizes that his face is particularly beautiful, too clean-cut for a pirate, and without any outlaw intensity.
Seeing how Katarina is staring at him, Silva laughs. He realizes yet again that his beautiful face has no effect on the childish Katarina. He puts the blanket over her and gently taps it like he would for a kid. Then he leaves the room.
Katarina jumps out of bed, determined to find a way to reunite with everyone. She scans the room in search of a place she could escape through. She remembers that in mangas and novels, characters would usually escape a room through vents, or by using a fork to open a hole in the wall. She is confident she will find a way out.

The night passes and it is now morning. Katarina has searched all night for a way out and she didn't find any.
Katarina blankly sits on the sofa, completely exhausted. She is sleepy but she doesn't want to fall asleep and wake up in a market in some country.
Silva barges into the room and is surprised to see Katarina up. He notices the dark circles under her eyes and asks her if she didn't sleep. Katarina explains that she was so worried about her friends that she couldn't sleep. She keeps quiet about how she has been searching for a way out all night.
Katarina asks Silva how her friends are doing. Silva actually also wanted to talk to her about her friends.
A thundering sound resounds.
Silva frowns with a hand on his forehead. It seems like the door got blown off, which means he is a step too late. Katarina is confused. Silva explains that her friends are raging even more than expected and are now rampaging to meet back with her. He seems to recall that the noble ladies threatened to use water magic and wind magic if pushes came to shove. In any case, he absolutely needs to reunite them with Katarina.
Silva carries Katarina under his armpit and storms out of the room. Katarina feels displeased to be treated like a dog this time.
Silva and Katarina arrive at a flooded corridor. Mary and Sophia step out of the room and urge the pirates to return Katarina to them. A pirate flusteredly asks them to wait for their boss to bring her here. Geordo grabs the pirate by the collar and coldly threatens him to give them hell if they lay even one finger on Katarina.
Katarina gasped in surprise over seeing Geordo like this.
Everyone notices Katarina's presence and runs to her.
Silva lets Katarina down. Katarina asks him if it is okay for her to go to her friends. Silva says yes since it is the best way to appease them. If he points a gun at her, it will add fuel to the fire and the ship may sink as a result. He also adds that from the beginning, he intended to let her go back to her friends if it didn't raise any issues. Katarina thinks he should have just done so.
Nicol and Alan ask Katarina if she is okay. Katarina reassures them and tells them she is glad they're okay too. Katarina feels so relieved to see her friends that tears well up in her eyes. Seeing her, Geordo asks Silva if he did something to her. Silva replies neither he nor his men did, and that he even kept watch outside her room all night to ensure it. Katarina is surprised that Silva was just outside the door all night long.
Now that she has reunited with her friends, Katarina feels incredibly sleepy. Silva invites everyone to return to their room with Katarina and stay put there. Seeing how exhausted Katarina is, Geordo accepts and leads Katarina by the hand. Katarina can't resist the sleepiness overcoming her and collapses.
