Lucky moved back to where she was told, doing her not fidget. She was confident that she was capable of fighting a cat 4, she had after all been taking on cat 3s before she was decommissioned though that was with pilots and much of the battles she couldn’t remember well.
“Will do” She replied. Glancing at the Mark-5 Jaeger in front of her. It made her a bit uneasy that it was in front of her, after all it had her former pilot and was likely going to be the first Jaeger to be attacked by the kaiju. She briefly entertained the idea of disobeying the Marshal and taking Striker’s place so she would be the prime target of a kaiju and not Herc but thought better of it.
m2luckyseven:
A nerves excitement buzzed through Lucky’s circuits. This was the first time she was fighting a kaiju with her new mobility and like a child eager to show their parents what they knew, she was excited to show Herc and everyone else at the Shatterdome that she was still good at fighting. She still hadn’t decided how she felt about Striker, of course without sentence of it’s own she decided she would reserve her judgement though she couldn’t help but feel a bit jealous that it was apparently the best Jaeger ever built.
“I’m ready to kick some kaiju butt!” Lucky responded with an excited hum of her engine to emphasis her point.
Tumblr media
Herc didn’t suppress the quirk of his lips. No one could see him anyway, and if Chuck had sensed his father’s amusement through the Drift, the younger pilot chose not to say anything. “LOCCENT, we’re in position.”
“Standard two-team formation,” came Stacker’s reply, transmitted also over to Lucky Seven. It wasn’t the first Category 4 that had come through the Breach, but the PPDC hadn’t had to fight many so far. “Striker, take point. Lucky Seven, circle around in a widening diameter. Stay sharp. This is only our second Cat 4.”
The sensors pinged softly at regular intervals. No Kaiju yet. But Herc was sure one would surface very soon. “Shout if you spot something, Lucky Seven.”

She had figured it wasn’t good, there where so many Jaegers in oblivion bay. In a way she shared Herc’s grief about the loss, her own kind seemingly slaughtered in a war they appeared to be losing. It was foolish of her to have hopped that the pilots of the fallen Jaegers had survived, she was sure some did but more often she feared they had perished, Lucky didn’t like the idea. It was one thing to walk around the corpses of her own kind but it was another to think about the deaths of the beings she was hardwired to protect.
“Yeah, I can stand” Lucky nodded, eager to push away the thoughts of death “and I wouldn’t mind some company” She laid her large hand flat on the ground. Herc wasn’t her pilot anymore but she was nerves about how the other humans would react and having someone familiar with her made those anxieties quiet some.
m2luckyseven:
It made sense, Lucky had been deactivated and the war was still going but the knowledge that Herc was piloting another Jaeger caused a new feeling to spring up. She couldn’t help but be a bit upset, Herc was her pilot but she felt that she had been replaced without a second thought. She didn’t dwell on the painful emotion, instead she forced herself to ignore it
“That makes sense, you are a good pilot” Lucky responded, deciding that she would do anything she could to keep herself from being discarded again.
Tumblr media
“Honestly? It’s more the fact that we have nearly no pilots left. Pretty much everyone’s dead.” At least he could say that without feeling guilty; grief was something all surviving Rangers carried. But guilt? Herc thought that the Ranger who carried the most guilt was the sole survivor of G*psy Danger, and that was something Herc knew he never wanted to go through.
He shook his head. “Funding got cut. Hong Kong Shatterdome is the only active one left. So-” he motioned at Lucky- “I think we’d take any help we can get. Think you can stand? It’d be easier to airlift you that way. And, ah, if you like some company, and if you’re fine with it, I’ll ride with you in the conn-pod.”

The Jumphawks had carried them from Hong Kong.
Two hours into their flight, they passed Manila. Herc was sure that Chuck sensed his father’s nerves as Lucky Seven, airlifted behind Striker Eureka, neared the site where her former pilots had nearly torn her apart. He tried to keep a close eye on Lucky.
About three hours later, they dropped into the Java Sea near Surabaya, the capital of East Java. Reports of a Category 4 Kaiju had reached the Hong Kong Shatterdome, and Marshal Pentecost had chosen to deploy Striker and Lucky, to see how the sentient Jaeger would do in a fight.
Herc still had his doubts about his former Jaeger, but he readied himself, turning Striker’s sensors on to scan the area. He reached out and hit the comms. “Lucky Seven, how are you doing?”

The Jaeger nervously moved her digits through the sand, careful not to fidget to close to Herc. She vaguely recognized the name Pentecost but she couldn’t place from where though if he was a Marshal she figured that she may have heard about him before.
“I guess I could help out where ever I’m needed” She guessed, unsure of her own place in the world “I can also still fight, I think, so I can keep fighting kaiju!” If she could remember one thing from before, it was the kaiju and that her deepest programing told her she needed to kill them to protect the humans. She wasn’t sure what had changed though, it seemed like a lot, but she was sure that as long as she could still fight she would be useful.
Tumblr media
A pang shot through Herc as he heard Lucky Seven say those words. He’d never thought of any Jaeger as a child that needed to be taken care of like how some people took extra care of their cars or bikes. Jaegers were made to be war machines.
But there had been no sentient Jaegers before today either. Not as far as anyone else knew.
“Yeah, that works.” He gestured, before pausing. Should he reveal that he was piloting a new Jaeger now? And with Chuck, no less; not Scott. He didn’t know how Lucky Seven would react, but maybe it would be better to say that now when there was no one else about, than for her to find out by any other means when they were already in a crowded Shatterdome. “Hey,” he said, “before we go, I need to let you know that, ah, things have changed a lot, probably as you’ve guessed. Chuck and I have been assigned to Striker for some time now. I thought I should give you a heads up.”

There isn’t anything on my radar
Lucky did know that it was likely that if they set off in any direction they were bound to run into some coastal city. That was basically what the kaiju did and it worked for them. The smaller jaeger’s rolling was admittedly fascinating, she had never thought of any jaeger capable of such movement.
But if you are worried I’m sure we can find a city, somewhere.
since we’re all going to die horribly anyway, what’s there to be worried about? -m2luckyseven
@m2luckyseven
Scrapper gave a huffing, stuttering sound in her speakers....oddly rather offended at that.
She was a jeager enginer now! (Right?)
The still comparitively very small Jeager is going to make a.yell like sound as the other goes walking into the water.
Don't do that! Scraper can't move in water yet or follow!
Don't leave?

At the mention of a Shatterdome, Lucky perked up a bit in a similar way to a dog who was asked if it wanted something. Shatterdomes had been her home but she was cautious about strolling up to them, she had heard from the humans who came to scavenge broken jaegers that the PPDC didn’t like jaegers they didn’t have control over. “Yes, I am okay with going back to a Shatterdome but will the PPDC want to shut me down?” She asked tentatively, she had just gained free will and she was not eager to let it go.all annoyance during her time and they were definitely not a threat to a jaeger.

He didn’t realize he’d been fiddling with his ring until he’d nearly pulled it off his finger. Then, Herc sighed and shoved it firmly back. “I’ll be honest - I don’t know. You’re the first Jaeger who came back online on your own, and being able to think for yourself, no less. But-”
With that, he made a decision. He was the only Ranger left who had piloted Lucky Seven. If he didn’t try to help his Jaeger out (former Jaeger, he corrected himself mentally), then he didn’t think anyone else would even try. “I’ll have a talk with Stacker. Marshal Pentecost, that is. I’ll do my best not to let you get shut down. But uh, you gotta work with me here a little. It’s a new situation, and we’re all still figuring things out. What role do you think you’d fit into at the Shatterdome?”

As relived as she might have been seeing that is was just her former ranger and not some mini kaiju she hardly let herself relax. Humans were unpredictable and she was not sure of his or the PPDC’s intentions.
“Clear things up?” She echoed in an almost laughing manor “I hardly can make sense of it myself! I came online, alone, in oblivion bay before that all I know is from what fragments of your memories remained in my AI after the drift” She gave a small, unsettled, twitch at her first true memory of waking up surrounded by other jaegers who had been torn by kaiju and further decimated by human scavengers. Some, like her, had not suffered such tragic fates and were instead decommissioned with only minor damage.
“I don’t know why, I think I’m the only one but I’m not sure” She wasn’t sure what Herc could pick up from her since they had not been connected for so long but she was none the less careful about what she thought “I was afraid of hurting someone so I came here, I didn’t think any humans were around so I figured it was safe for me to stay here until I figured out what was going on” Though she only picked up Herc in her vicinity she could recall that she had another pilot “Where’s Scott?” She asked.
Tumblr media
Herc felt his expression change, like someone had rearranged it from a distance. It had been many years of trying not to think about Scott, and about how the things he’d seen in his brother’s mind was what had decommissioned Lucky Seven in the first place.
“You’re not storing our Drift memories?”
He paced to one side of her, trying to take stock of what injuries she had, what repairs needed to be done, if there was anything else he immediately needed to take action on. Eventually, he shrugged, glancing up at where the conn. pod was. “He was discharged from the Program.” He didn’t want to say more than that, and turned his mind to more urgent things at hand.
He believed Lucky when she said that she was the only Jaeger online that wasn’t dead, and wasn’t still piloted by Rangers. A signature that large wouldn’t have shown up. But there was no way to forcibly move a few-tonne Jaeger which didn’t want to be moved. “I’m not sure you’d be safe here. If we can find you, the Kaiju cultists can find you too. Are you open to coming back to the Shatterdome? At least until we can all figure out what happened.”

Reblog if you are willing to write in-depth, significant, and valued FRIENDSHIPS.
There is so much focus on romantic/sexual relationships lately. Friendships are incredibly important for characters too, and deserve as much love and attention as romantic/sexual relationships.

I have arrived with my incredibly niche and self-indulgent content! Transformers and Pacific Rim, my two robot loves.
Context, for whatever it's worth: Crimson Typhoon has digitigrade legs, one "eye," and funky claws. Whirl has digitigrade legs, one optic, and funky claws. Therefore, friends :)
Image descriptions under cut.
[1st image: A fully colored and shaded sketch. Crimson Typhoon (Pacific Rim) is a massive red mecha that is crouching down to "look" at Whirl (IDW Transformers), who barely comes up to its bent knee. All three of Typhoon's arms are visible, one supporting it in the crouch, one resting in front, and one up in the air out of the way. Three little emoticons ( :P, ^_^, and >:) ) show the pilots' expressions of amusement from within the "head". Whirl looks and jabs a claw upwards at the third arm, complaining: "Hey, how come you get three?!"]
[2nd image: Two simply colored, loose sketches side by side. The first sketch shows Whirl standing at full height and looking down at the Wei triplets, who are three identical men with close-shaved heads and red armor standing in a line before him. The first man leans on one leg and holds his helmet against his hip, the second is waving up at Whirl and swinging the helmet from one hand, the third mirrors the first.
The second sketch shows Whirl sitting on Crimson Typhoon's shoulder, optic curved in glee and lifting one claw to give a fistbump to one of the triplets. The triplets are gathered on Typhoon's head, dressed in loose jackets and pants. One grins and extends a fist to return the fistbump, one sits at the edge of the head and dangles his feet, and one stands back a little with arms crossed. From below, someone yells: "GET DOWN FROM THERE".]

Something was bothering Lucky, a feeling in her processor of something familiar but something she couldn’t place. Memories that had been pushed deep and forgotten threatening to resurface. Lucky grumbled and sat up, she had been relaxing on a beach, a devastated city from one of the kaiju attacks met the coast, skeletal reminders of the terror the Earth endured. She had been sure the place was abandoned but her on board proximity sensors were alerting her to movement, something was approaching her and it was smaller then any kaiju she knew of.
“What are you doing here” She growled through her speakers
Tumblr media
When PPDC scanners had picked up the long-dead nuclear signature of what was supposed to be an old, Mark II Jaeger, Herc had been called in by Stacker. The brass up top supposed it would be better hearing about it coming from the newly-appointed Marshal of the Hong Kong Shatterdome.
Lucky Seven. A name still printed but faded on the vest Herc was still accustomed to wearing.
He had chosen to round the corner of the rubble closest to the signature, but even before he was able to really process what he was seeing, a voice came from the Jaeger he used to co-pilot. A now-sentient Jaeger. A Jaeger which he would need to determine had gone rogue or not.
But how the hell was he supposed to answer that question?
“PPDC scanners picked your signature up,” he said instead. “They got me to check it up. Look, no one can make sense of what’s going on, so you want to clear things up?”

Okay here’s an ask game
Send me a ship and I’ll answer three questions based on if I ship it or not.
Ship It
What made you ship it?
What are your favorite things about the ship?
Is there an unpopular opinion you have on your ship?
Don’t Ship It
Why don’t you ship it?
What would have made you like it?
Despite not shipping it, do you have anything positive to say about it?
