I think staying contained in the Durgetash and Shadowheart side of the fandom has saved me a lot of grief. Every time I hear about the overall BG3 fandom it sounds like a dumpster fire. What is even going on over there???lol everything is always relatively chill over here in my obsession corner

Do you guys ever think about how if redeemed!Durge pulls out of Gortash’s alliance after returning with Orin’s Netherstone that Gortash literally cannot rationalize their betrayal (and them now trying to kill him) by blaming their urge? Like how much of a complete mindfuck that would be for him. The Dark Urge just told him they’re 100% cured and now they’re trying to kill him? You know, the person who’s always been by their side, their partner in crime, their equal, and their (potential) lover; and now they’re trying to murder him. And prior to the amnesia, Gortash could always rationalize that if The Dark Urge tried to kill him one day that he could hand wave it as “they just couldn’t help themselves anymore” because of Bhaal’s hold on them. It doesn’t mean they wanted to.
But now, Bhaal is gone and The Dark Urge is moving in to kill him. There’s no way to rationalize it as anything else. The only person who ever cared about him is going to kill him, and he’ll die knowing everything they once had is completely gone. The Dark Urge doesn’t remember him. Their love for him died the moment Orin split their skull. The urge isn’t the reason they’re doing this. He’ll die knowing that they hate him.

“Often father and daughter look down on mother together. They exchange meaningful glances when she misses a point. They agree that she is not bright as they are, cannot reason as they do. This collusion does not save the daughter from the mother’s fate”

i'm SO laid back, i only care about like 3 things in the world:
my favorite fictional characters and music
every person on this earth and their opinion of me
the crushing psychological weight of being alive

Idk if Tik Tok and the fandom here are making me delusional or whatever but I’m genuinely curious about the chances of Gortash becoming a romance option (down the line for Dark Urge). Like I feel like if Larian conducted a poll at this moment for a dlc romance option Gort would be pretty high up or number one?? Because I keep seeing more people start to like him? Like is he becoming more popular? Especially because it seems widely accepted now that him and Dark Urge were an item of some kind and the fandom overall seems to like that. Or am I in an echo chamber for him?lol

Cleric!Durge is so good. Like imagine a young Durge who starts worshipping Selune (or any other god) as a way to stave off their urges, thinking they can be “cured” if they try hard enough. But obviously that fails (thanks dad) and their faith becomes more and more of a facade. Before they know it, they’re just going through the motions but their faith is practically nonexistent. And of course, none of this is helped once their Butler comes on scene and leads them to papa dearest’s cult.
But then, once their memories are lost, Durge holds onto the fleeting vestiges of their forgotten faith. They think they’re a loyal cleric, but still feel uneasy for some reason. But they continue to try being the “good cleric” people want, even at the expense of their own health (by resisting the urges).
And of course, this is all made better if Durge is a cleric of Selune and romances Selunite!Shadowheart. I mean…two people who lost their memories, serve a corrupt god who is using them, AND are starcrossed due to their goddesses’ hatred for one another. Sign me up. And then, they find one another in the darkest moments of their lives, help each other overcome their traumas, and go on together to find their true faith in Selune after all. Also!! going to help Shadowheart build a house for her parents in the end? They are in love, your honor🥺😳
