In 2016, I made a post about how in Super Mario Galaxy, whenever Mario sinks into a swamp, his head shrinks to allow his arm and hand to reach out of the swamp without his head being in the way. Normally, this cannot be seen in-game as it occurs below the surface, and requires external tools to move the game's camera.
If Mario sinks into the swamp after hitting the edge of a platform in the manner shown in the footage, a desync of the animation will occur whereby it will activate while Mario is still almost completely visible. This allows the shrinking of his head to be seen in-game.

Paper Mario utilizes rendering techniques available on the Nintendo 64 hardware that are highly obscure and not well supported on emulators, including any official software used by Nintendo themselves to emulate the game on other systems as part of the Virtual Console/Nintendo Switch Online lineup.
Top: on original hardware, the effect enveloping the Star Spirits in the intro when Bowser attacks them is a ball of flame. The effect represents the harm being inflicted on the Star Spirits, resulting in their subsequent imprisonment.
Bottom: however, on any other system (Wii VC, Wii U VC, and NSO) the effect is not properly reproduced, enveloping them in a golden cloud instead. The cloud no longer looks as actively harmful as the flames, losing some of the visual impression.

In New Super Mario Bros. Wii, some objects in the background, such as Peach's Castle at the beginning of the first level, appear to shift slightly in perspective as the camera scrolls by, to increase the sense that the scene is three-dimensional despite the gameplay only being confined to a two-dimensional plane.
However, due to the game using orthographic projection (a manner of rendering where objects are not distorted by perspective), the standard way of implementing this effect - to simply place the object at a distance to the camera and pan it across, letting the perspective shift naturally - is not actually possible. Instead, the designers used a trick where objects that need to shift simply rotate along a central axis as the camera moves back and forth. The effect is slightly optically inaccurate but subtle enough to mistake for true perspective shifting during gameplay.
By modifying the game's code to add a multiplier to the rotation value, it becomes easily visible, revealing the trick. Note how the castle stands still when the camera is not moving, and rotates in the opposite direction of the camera movement.

Top: the 2020 Game & Watch: Super Mario Bros. enters sleep mode when it is left idle for three minutes while not being plugged in. Depending on the time of the day, before entering sleep mode, the system briefly shows various artwork, mostly depicting Mario, Luigi and the enemies resting. Between noon and 1 PM, the artwork shown is one of Mario and Luigi having lunch on top of the mushrooms from World 4-3.
Bottom: after the release of The Super Mario Bros. Movie in 2023, concept artwork for the movie was published, which included the drawing that the sleep screen above was based on. While the Game & Watch predates the movie, the movie has been in production since 2018. This creates a curious case of one product being released using another product's concept art before the product for which the concept art was made in the first place could be released itself.
