the speed and efficiency with which homestuck fumbled the bag on its rise to fame is truly impressive to me. like. i have so rarely ever seen so many people bail out of one fandom with such efficiency in my life. like rats fleeing a sinking ship. and now the shipwreck. idk theres a beautiful coral reef growing on it and some fish show up every now and then. revitalizing the local ecosystem.
anyway i'm crowdsourcing here bcos i don'tttt particularly have the time to go hunting but. does anyone have any recs for books on like.. bodies of literature/mythology/literary cycles. like in particular i'm thinking of the arthurian cycle & the epic cycle + the nature of a literary cycle as a body of various works that interconnect and overlap in various and often contradictory ways. specifically how there is no one work in any of them that is 'more canon' than another but from the contradictory and messy whole a pattern becomes apparent & becomes indicative of the greater body.
