Granted, I don’t like the ending either, but I’ve heard people who do like it talk about it, and maybe some people think the ending itself is awesome, but the ones I’ve talked to really like it from a character perspective.
It’s the only ending that gives Melina any depth, for starters.
But also, the characters associated with it are so interesting. Vyke, whose desire to protect his maiden had him turn against not just the golden order but the whole world. Hyetta, a mysterious girl who seems to have been worshipped by Shabriri’s followers, but lead to believe she was doing her duty as a real finger maiden. Shabriri himself, a being of chaos and destruction, who takes over the bodies and minds of people who are overcome with despair.
And your Tarnished, whatever their reason, a once-noble figure who is tempted from the path they were told to walk, who has seen the Lands Between and all it has to offer, and wants it all to burn.
So like the actual ending sucks and is objectively the worst ending (at least in dungeater’s ending there’s still, like, existence?) but the journey to get there is interesting.
am i the only one who just doesn't get the obsession with the frenzied flame ending??? like idk to me it is quite plainly and objectively just the bad ending alongside dung eater's and idk why people will call you lame for doing age of stars while swooning over how cool and awesome flame is. I did it once and thought it was just kind of a lame conclusion to my journey, mostly just achievement hunting and i'm never doing it again lmao
Srsly it's like the elden ring equivalent of that fucking "why be racist when you can hate everyone" grumpy cat sticker plastered onto a door at my school

Passed the simping and all, do you guys ever wonder how utterly lonely Malenia must have felt as a child? Growing up having to keep people away because of a sickness that could very well kill people she wanted to get close to?
Do you ever wonder what a low blow that must gave been for her? To spend her life never knowing a loving touch? Never getting to hold someone because they may as well already be so far away? Out of reach because she might hurt them so badly? Kill them even?
Do you wonder how she may have been cruel to be kind to people who genuinely wanted to be close to her to save them from herself? Maybe she loves so deeply, that's why she hurts them. Because them being alive and away from her is good enough. What choice does she have?

Are there any 'Situations' you would like to chuck your characters into?
Like a fun little scenario or even an au oneshot kinda thing which would be fun to explore (even if you dont see yourself writing it anytime soon at all)
Well I’ve been wanting to write a pre-shattering fic with my cleanrots in it. I just haven’t started yet bc 1. It’d be another longfic and 2. I’m not quite sure how I would make it different yet from yours, Niko’s, and all of the other pre-shattering finlenia stuff.
For the rot sisters, I really want to write more about them growing up in Caelid, I think I called the next chapter I showed you “Little house on the swamp” bc characters having cute little domestic moments in extremely unlikely circumstances (like, post apocalyptic or in space or they’re superheroes or in Caelid) has always been really appealing to me. I also wanna throw them into a modern au but sadly I have no fucking clue what I’d do with them there.
For Astrid and Nyla, I’d love to actually write their story sometime, which would just be kinda episodically following the main plot of Elden ring but with a focus on their character arcs so it jumps around a bit.
