annabeth throwing her dagger at luke in the finale is crazy if you know the history. she’s throwing luke’s promise of family from all those years ago to his face after betraying percy and her. not to mention it’s THE cursed blade in the prophecy
also such wonderful foreshadowing to have annabeth see the fates cut a thread instead of percy

Percy figures out Ares was not working for Hades. He mentally runs through whatever he heard Ares say. Ares was talking about Kronos. Chiron/Sally already told him at some point that Kronos lives in Tartaurus where he almost just died.
He already had that dream and even though it LOOKS like a school principal, book Percy says he could feel how evil the voice in the pit is. According to the show, Percy's school principal gives him the same emotions as Kronos does, so on some level he already knew.

The Nereid, Charon
plain text: the Nerid, Charon : end of description
So I said before how the Nereid gets more character agency in 106 than in the books, but I'll reiterate.
She CHOSE to give Percy four pearls because SHE sympathizes with Percy's mom. Unlike many other characters who mostly care about the quest *cough*Mr.D and Chiron*cough*. Even though Poseidon provides no help because the deadline has passed and sends his messenger with the purpose of representing himself, she makes a selfish decision. By that I mean she was not acting on Poseidon's behalf, but in fact encouraging Percy to go against what Poseidon said BECAUSE OF Sally!
This shows how the mythological creatures have their own ideas outside of the gods, and that they are affected by the gods too. Demigods are not the only people who have stake in the quest.
in fact, this writing decision of how the Nereid thinks is why it works out that they only recieve the pearls after the casino.
In the books, a similar device was used for a wholly different character.
Charon is the ferryman of the dead and a servant of Hades. in the books, the trio show up at his base of operations (a record company, naturally) and claim to have died. He couldn't care in the least about them but accepts their payment. He doesn't seem to care about their quest así that much either, but still shows them to take his boat when they offer him something: getting Hades to give him a raise.
To change the shit deal he got by serving the gods.
because it isn't just the demigods and the humans. Everyone in this world is connected, and the rule of the Olympians causes problems everywhere. This is how non-human characters are humanized.

Sally's character is changed a lot from the books, at least from Percy's POV, but I think it does a lot for both of their characters.
Percy feels unwanted enough from being kicked out that there's an entire fucking song about it in the musical, and in the books musical and show he feels like Sally keeps kicking him out of their home and thinks he's just too difficult. He even heard that she just isn't willing to homeschool and doesn't know why.
The flashback scene in the car also adds more context to what Hermes did in the casino. Percy thinks it's all about how he is inherently flawed and just messing things up for Sally, while she feels useless because she can only do so much for him as a human, so BOTH of them have the same feeling Hermes was talking about!
In the books, Percy says that Sally never raises her voice at anyone. The same definitely isn't true in the show, and the first time I saw 107 and wasn't expecting it, I was pretty uncomfortable during the car flashback.
It's still valuable to the narrative to give Sally character flaws like this though, even if it's different from the books and hard to swallow, because it gives insight onto how Sally is actualy affected by the whole mythological world.

One thing I did not expect from PJO was all the parallels between different types of relationships besides between 2/3 of the same type. Romance, friendship, family, and worship!
This is pretty different as far as I can tell from shows I've seen, but I think it really goes to show that we are built out of other people. We give what we have, and we have what we've been given.

right before Zeus used his morning bolt on them, which is why he said Percy needed to give him it 🤔
god. hades saying, "ask me for sanctuary" after percy talks about kronos hits like a truck when you remember that he tried to do the same for maria, bianca, and nico.

I have alot to say on the new episode, but I will wait to post it, except for two things.
1) my Suzuki trainee ass can hear the Chorus of Judas Macchabeaus from ten miles away (unless I got it wrong bc I always mix up the titles)
2) It slayed

rereading Percy Jackson post-diagnosis is getting suddenly hit in the face with character moments that are so overtly ADHD.
Like Leo thinking some rude thing bc his mind applies him with a zillion thoughts a second and decided that one was entertaining, but holding it back bc he cares about his friends and he isn't trying to be rude to them

also saying I CALLED IT about the Nereid making him the pearls, since some of y'all den to think Poseidon wanted her to- NOPE.
she decided to help Percy! there are more players in this then just the gods and she is a person, not just Poseidon's eyes ears and mouth!
rick posted an explanation for some of the episode 6 changes:

OMG
Tumblr media
THE GREAT PROPHECY IS IN THERE
Also if anyone knows the name of the monster in that pot, please let me know!!
rewatching pjo rn and the Big House attic is confusing. why is there so much fuckign furniture??? hello??
I think I saw, like, a helmet, one preserved claw, and mayybe the vague shadow of a taxiClaw, as far as artifacts.
on the other hand:
Tumblr media
a very red, very noticeable fashion scarf? I think we all know who that belongs to.
Do my question now is: will we get a flashback with Aphrodite?
for y'all who haven't read the books:
Percy and Annabeth recover Aphrodite's magic scarf AND Ares' shield at waterland. in TLO, Percy visits the Oracle of Delphi for a second time only then realizing that Annabeth had kept the scarf and put it in storage.
in the books, the attic is also where any trophies from quests [trophies are like mob drops in minecraft, the whole monster dissolves except one thing, like Medusa's head and the Minotaur horn] are stored, along with any other artifacts gained from questing. In TLT, Percy sees taxidermied monster parts and preserved or pickled trophies all on a table in the attic
