ONLINE RESOURCES FOR LEARNING ABOUT CONTEMPORARY ART
ART21 not only makes the eponymous documentary series, but they also create other great series like New York Close up and Artist to Artist, and have a fantastic blog.
ARTINFO covers much about art and culture, and also hosts a variety of good blogs. You can filter by subject matter.
Creative Time Reports features progressive reporting on art- and culture-related news around the world.
Hyperallergic lets you hear from a variety of voices on contemporary art topics and happenings, edited by Hrag Vartanian.
TateShots is an excellent video series made by, you guessed it: The Tate.
Modern Art Notes is a podcast and blog by DC-based journalist Tyler Green. He’s refreshingly opinionated and very well informed.
MOCATV is a ridiculously great channel produced by Los Angeles’s Museum of Contemporary Art.
Art F City is edited by Paddy Johnson and features good art reporting and criticism.
Bad at Sports is a weekly podcast and blog. It’s super fantastic, and you should follow them.
Triple Canopy is a super cool online magazine full of interesting content.
e-flux has an excellent journal and you can sign up to receive email announcements about art exhibitions, programs, and books all over the world.
ARTFORUM is not only a fine print magazine, but it’s also a rich online resource as well. Their guide is always helpful for me when I’m traveling, and their diary is my guilty pleasure where I can see pics of all the hip art parties I’m missing all over the world.
The Art Newspaper is also quite a good place to find news about art and the art market.
These are really excellent print publications that also feature good content online: Frieze, BOMB magazine, Esopus, Cabinet, ArtAsiaPacific, Parkett, ArtReview, Afterall, Flash Art, Art Papers, ARTnews, and Art in America.
You can also follow and check in on organizations that commission and produce projects and stage events like Creative Time, Artangel, Art Production Fund, Los Angeles Nomadic Division (LAND), and others.
Plus there are so many interesting twitter feeds and tumblrs to follow. Check out who we follow and get some ideas.
What is this list missing?

Feminism’s the word at Dior
Having a woman in the top position of a fashion house is always a top talking point and Maria Grazia Chiuri’s appointment to Dior was no different.
Her first outing for the brand focused on a new frontier. As always, the female body was a central point but Chiuri spoke the word ‘feminism’ loud and clear.
With statement tees proclaiming ‘We Should All Be Feminists’, an abundance of flat shoes and masculine detailing, this was a new era for the Dior woman.
Here’s a closer look at just how feminist Dior SS17 turned out to be.

Rihanna made the ultimate gym gear

Fencing gear
A long line of fencing-inspired suits took to the runway with tied white jackets and knee-length trousers offering women the chance to dress strong and masculine. Heart embroidery over the chest gave a cheeky womanly detail while Ruth Bell’s tomboy cut worked as the perfect accessory.

Statement tees
‘We Should All Be Feminists’ and ‘Dio®evolution’ shouted from models’ simple white t-shirts. Arguably the most-talked about designs of the collection, Chiuri’s message of take a stand and fight for your rights proved that fashion isn’t always frivolous.

Flat shoes
White slip-ons and knee-high fencing boots appeared along with the tiniest of heels. This collection was all about being comfortable. And how does that start? With being able to walk.

Corsets
Once a symbol of restriction, corsets are fast becoming a way of reclaiming female bodies. Women the world over were given the choice to show off their assets - when they choose to, how they choose to.

Denim
The blue stuff hasn’t been seen on the Dior catwalk for some time. But this season, Chiuri took the fabric’s easy-to-wear charm, dyed it white and paired it with sheer ruffled tops.

Tough leather
A red leather jacket proved to be the ultimate femme fatale look. Combined with a matching tulle dress, this particular Dior girl was feisty and not one to be reckoned with.
