Okay, so I’ve talked about it before on here, but I’m going to talk about it again now that I’m more than halfway through Earthspark. I am absolutely shocked and touched by the amount of Filipino representation there is in this show. Growing up as a person with multiple ethnic identities, I grew up mostly in my Filipino heritage compared to the six others. I don’t speak much Tagalog, mostly because my family speaks predominantly Ilonggo/Hiligaynon, but the moment Alex said “Lolo” I was completely shocked, because I’ve never heard someone in a TV show speak my language before. I have never had Filipino representation onscreen growing up, so Earthspark is actually the very first show where I get that. Episode six literally almost brought me to tears because I vividly remember my mom telling stories about Filipino folklore like the Wak-Wak or Mangkukulam and Engkanto. The usage of the phrase “Tabi Tabi Po” became almost a mantra for me when I would wander the woods or explore more rural areas where I grew up. This episode was a love letter to the Philippines, and those who struggle with finding their identity and taking refuge in the family history that is passed onto them from one generation to the next. To see my folklore, language, and represented so naturally in this show is absolutely moving, and a further example of why representation in media is so important.

If you're doing transformers prompts: more Elita? Leading her crew on Cybertron or just relaxing, she deserves more art. I'm also curious about her height/alt mode since she seems to be the same size as Prime in the oplita drawing.

So. Confession time. I wasn’t thinking much about alt modes or scaling when I drew Elita the last time. I mostly just referenced her Earthspark model and fudged the scaling since I couldn’t find any dimensions for her figurine in alt mode, and without that I can’t scale. And it would be harder to get OP’s head on her shoulder if she was short.

But that ain’t interesting. So to answer your question about alt modes, I designed my own Elita-1 who just happens to be about the same height as Optimus (~9 meters tall).

This is the fourth iteration. Lots of trial and error with this one.

This Elita-1 was a labor-caste worker before her upgrades, just like Orion. Since they performed the same function before the war, I imagine her to have a similar alt-mode to him. This version of her transforms into a Cybertronian box truck with treads. And I didn’t JUST do this so they’d conveniently be around the same height, I do actually fuck with the idea of her as a truck (or at the very least some kind of hauler). Otherwise, I dig an Elita-1 who turns into a Cybertronian jet, like her Power of the Primes figurine. Partly because I like the look of it, partly because I think a badass warframe Elita-1 with some of her IDW personality mixed in would be kick-ass, partly because I think it’s funny to imagine Elita being the tall one in the relationship.

So about sapphic BoulGram… suddenly struck intensely by thought of Boulder being a butch(?) gardener and got overcame with a strong desire to materialize it, even if it’s a sketch.
