Not like fighting you or anything but there is a lot more to the hook than the one lyric. You keep saying it’s the entire hook. It was your favorite part of the hook, maybe. But it’s not the whole hook. There are still plenty of other lyrics.

The hook isn’t the whole chorus, it’s the line that repeats that packs the most punch. “She’s not a saint and she’s not what you think she’s an actress and she’s better known for the things that she does on the mattress” IS the hook, and the former part falls flat without the latter because the two lines are no longer connected into one clever statement.

If Taylor had kept the lyric she would have been slandered left and right and people would have used it as “proof” that she hasn’t grown up or that she never understood why the line upset people. This probably felt like a better alternative.
