A papercraft commission of the three witches from Sleep No More, a noir-flavored take on MacbethĀ set in the 1930s and told through modern dance. Iāve done a few other Sleep No More pieces, and itās always such a cool aesthetic to work with!
For this one, I layered transparent paper over excerpts of the witchesā dialogue from Macbeth to make the words look like theyāre floating into view. This ended up being a lot trickier than Iād anticipated - some of the transparent papers I chose really did not want to change their colors! - but I think the final effect came out super neat.

the Hotel is dark
As Iām sure you have learned already, Sleep No More has closed indefinitely due to the threat of COVID-19.Ā
I will try and update the cast list soon with what I know of who was fired on Wednesday.Ā
I donāt know if the show will reopen or if those who were let go will be asked back if and/or when it reopens.Ā
Hopefully this is not all there isā¦
If you can, please support the McKittrick folk who are looking for work or other support. I had a few tickets already purchased for the show, and if I get a refund, Iām going to use that refunded money to support a local artist. I encourage you, if you have a paycheck that will continue during this crisis, please think about helping gig workers, artists, and those who are more vulnerable or without a safety net.

Sad News
As Iām sure some of you have heard, there has been a swath of layoffs at Sleep No More. Cast, crew, and staff are all affected.Ā
Both the Tuesday and Sunday early shows have been cancelled from here forward. However, Gov. Cuomo just shut down Broadway as of tonight, so Iād imagine that SNM will follow.Ā
I thought, in the interest of supporting people we care about, I am going to try and maintain a list of people who are looking for gig work, have started a Go Fund Me page, or are offering to work/be supported in other ways.Ā
So many people donāt have a safety net, and this crisis has come out of the blue.Ā
Iām going to get this list up and running later today.Ā If you know of any specific ways to support the McKittrick family, please let me know and Iāll add it to the list.Ā

Seriously if anybody ever takes any mental-health advice from me, let it be this:
Do not self deprecate. Ever. Not as humor, not as a coping mechanism, and certainly not as an attempt to endear yourself to other.
It is SO unhealthy and SO debilitating to your mental health. Good lord, I cannot stress enough how much self-deprecation fucking hurts you. Please just stop doing this to yourself. Itās a form of self-harm, itās not good for you.
Iāve met so many people who would be so much better off if they just stopped trash-talking themselves so much.

to thousands of people making phony images and replying to them with their passionate desire to have them as a tshirt to overload the bots with nonsense and junk and send out warnings to shoppers like this:
and now we even have people replying to pictures of baby yoda withĀ āi want this on a tshirtā knowing how ravenous disney is being with copyright in hopes to get the stores taken down altogether
i dont know what it is about stuff like this and the whole turn mei into a symbol of hk protesters thing but, its really reassuring for some reason

I managed to film the final ballroom performance from Hitchcock Halloween on the 31st so though I would share it here in case anyone was interested.
Halloween was incredible and well worth the trip over from the UK. Iāll definitely be coming back over for another party at The McKittrick Hotel.
