Posting here due to the circumstances, but for anyone participating who isn't aware yet, LiuLao Week will be postponed this year. The ship week blog currently has that shadowban glitch on it that goes around sometimes, and despite multiple support requests to tumblr, I've so far had no luck getting it fixed. That means that the blog cannot receive private messages, but more importantly, all its posts are hidden from the tags (hence posting this here) and I am no longer notified when someone @s the blog, which means I could miss submissions. That's obviously no good, so I will be putting the event on hold for now and continuing to try to get the blog fixed (if anyone has tips please let me know!)
Not sure how long it will be, but I will give at least a week's notice once it is fixed for the new event to start (not gonna be like hey it's fixed, day 1 is tomorrow xD) In the meantime, enjoy your extra work time and thank you for understanding!

Hi everybody! I can’t believe it’s been a year! I know the fandom is quieter now as we wait for both new games and movie sequels, but we’ve also got some new folks since last year, and several people expressed interest in another LiuLao week so I am here to oblige! <3
This year’s LiuLao week will be July 25-31, 2022! All the same rules as last year still apply, and remember that all media types are welcome (art, writing, AUs, fanmix, meta, etc.), as well as any versions of the characters from games, movies, or other media. We love all versions of our boys! Also like last year, each day will have two prompts to choose from- they do not have to be combined, unless you want the challenge!
Day 1: Sun / Storm
Day 2: Home / Journey
Day 3: Music / Silence
Day 4: Animals / Children
Day 5: Compassion / Cruelty
Day 6: Marriage / Goodbye
Day 7: Legend / Truth

Kung Lao meets his eyes, heavy-lidded and self-satisfied, and Liu Kang expects him to crawl back up to lie beside him- but instead he remains where he is, cradled between Liu Kang’s thighs, turning his head to pillow his cheek on Liu Kang’s stomach.

Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply, Canon-Typical Violence
Characters: Liu Kang, Sonya Blade, Kung Lao (not actually there but they talk about him kind of a lot)
Relationships: Liu Kang/Kung Lao (not a very shippy fic but it’s important for context and stuff)
Liu Kang shrugs. "We have all been through a lot. And you…" he pauses for a moment, studying her. "You sought us out. Not for personal gain or the thrill of battle, but because you care about the history of Mortal Kombat and what it means. I cannot help but believe that means you are meant to stand alongside us at the tournament."
Hearing that from him brings back the feeling Sonya had when they first arrived at the temple--not just excitement at finally being here, or validation at knowing everything she'd learned and found and pieced together about the tournament was true, but a sense that she could be a part of this, claim a space among champions. The feeling that keeps coming back despite the immutable, impersonal fact that as long as she doesn't have a mark she's stuck on the sidelines, a supporting player at best.
