i watched the confession again (because [megan thee stallion] i like pain) and it's slightly insane how often misha slips out of the cas voice. it's not bad acting (misha is a fantastic actor, obviously) so much as it's not really acting at times? even if i didn't perceive cockles as anything more than good friends, it'd be touching, but good god, when the "i love you" hits and it's vastly more misha than cas. absolutely deranged and the perfect encapsulation of "destiel is cockles' fault."
i think we REALLY have a hive mind going on here because look at this:
the confession is over eight months old at this point, but it's like being hit by a truck every time to remember it. and jensen just? admitted to having a crew member record it for him so that he could watch it as himself and misha? what on EARTH are you talking about, jackles? i could write a fucking dissertation on it. it'd be redundant, but christ. it's incredible enough from a destiel angle, but the cockles of it all is out of control.

yes, dean can’t reciprocate.......at that moment.
I always took the “dean can’t reciprocate” to mean he’s was Stuck and could not verbally reciprocate an “I love you too”. Not that he doesn’t reciprocate at all but that he’s processing so much he’s kinda buffering and his emotions are bottlenecking bc there’s so many of them that he can’t express it.
Also bc when Jensen talked about it, he specifically said not to think of Deans reaction as a cop out bc he was dealing with so much at the time (death coming, cas confessing (!), knowing he’s about to lose Cas again for forever) that he couldn’t do anything. He was scared and paralyzed. So I take it as he did, but At that Moment, he couldn’t.
oh, definitely, that's also how i interpret it as a whole, and there isn't a single doubt in my mind that jensen played dean as reciprocating. he's more or less told us that without saying it outright. i just personally find the line 'dean can't reciprocate' to be one that can interpreted several ways, and that frustrates the hell out of me. and given misha did later give a lot of mixed messages on whether he (as an actor) thought it was reciprocated, that doesn't help either.
ANYWAY, like. we all know dean is in love with cas and cas is in love with dean, jensen played it that way, misha played it that way, they are in LOVE. i just want to hit the writers over the head with a something, i think i’ve earned that as compensation after everything they’ve put us through.
anyway, glad dean got cas out of the empty and they’re living their best life in a cottage with their son, eating fresh strawberries from the garden. :)

it just hit me how fucking INSANEEEEEEEEEEEE it was for them to spend 12 years (TWELVE! YEARS!) being like no this character is not allowed to be gay. dean winchester cannot be gay we cannot let this happen. i would rather rip our entire story apart at the seams i would rather divebomb the ending of a fifteen year show than allow this fictional man to be in love with another fictional man. girl WHAT

why the fuck would you show us that cas irrevocably links his worth to his usefulness. Why the fuck would you play into this multiple times, have cas make stupid decision bc he wants to be useful to dean/the winchesters, have him jump at the chance to sacrifice himself for them, have him leave almost every time as soon as he is done helping them DESPITE admitting he would rather be with them than in heaven and have dean unknowingly play into this bc of his repression by saying stuff like “jack brought you back because we needed you” and why have MULTIPLE third parties confirm that the thought of the Winchesters only keeping him around for his usefulness is not only something he truly believes, but also something that deeply hurts and upsets him.
Why establish that the bunker kitchen is his safe space, why have him react like that the first time dean calls him family, why have him say “ i have no family” after becoming god, why have him explicitly say he wanted tfw 2 to be a family.
Why show us again and again that cas is full of self loathing, shame and guilt either through other characters or his own admission. Why have so many characters call him defective or broken to his face.
Why have his ultimate happiness be confessing his love for someone. And in the same moment show us that he is convinced that his feelings wont ever be returned. (And i have read multiple ppl saying that cas knows his feelings are returned and while this would make all this hurt a lot less, i simply do not think he does. The reason why he “cant have it” isnt just the deal, its because he is convinced that his feelings are unrequited)
Why the fuck would you establish all this and NOT have it culminate in the fucking only satisfying resolution possible: cas finally gets EXPLICITLY told that he is not only needed, but he is loved and wanted and is asked to stay.
And thats not me being a sap, happy endings arent a cop out or a lazy choice, fuck you. We have talked about how dean’s ending is dissatisfying and hurtful, but i feel like cas deserved a good ending, too.
Why the fuck would you show us a sad character and give him a sad ending, what the fuck is wrong with you, do your jobs

For fans who never watched SPN, some basic facts - 1x01 starts with Dean Winchester (26 yo) professional monster hunter, picking up his brother Sam (22 yo), student at Stanford, and going on a one off monster hunt. For next 3 seasons they travel around the country in their black Impala 67 hunting monsters, saving people. Castiel, Angel of the Lord and the interdimensional wavelength of light, arrives in 4x01.The rest is shipping history. Angst, miscommunication, exploration of Dean’s low self esteem, Cas’s rusty people skills and general otherness are a staple of AU fics. But also exploration of one’s sexuality - internalized homophobia, coming out, bisexuality and asexuality are common themes.

I know it’s long but please, please read this excellent (deleted) IMDb review about the finale.
This is one of my top 10 favorite reviews, It’s very very well argumented and perfectly written, maybe that’s ultimately the reason it was deleted, the reason why so many good reviews are deleted.
I’ve spent weeks searching for it, I knew I had it saved as webarchive file but i couldn’t find it in any of my devices, I finally found it but it turned out I had it saved as a text, that’s why I couldn’t find it.

There’s a lot I could say about this… it’s the most rushed I have ever made a comic so there’s a lot of it that’s still wonky- crooked panels, rushed storyline, questionable dialogue, wonky references- but like, I fucking NEEDED this, okay, even if it’s only relevant for the next couple of hours before the new episode ruins us again.
