worst feeling in the fucking world when the fandom falls victim to the delusions/lies that the character's feed themselves and than those lies are taken to be the True Essence of the characters

like i just finished rereading assassination classroom (for maybe the fifth time?) and focusing on karma + nagisa cus theyre my faves and like theyre fucking liars!!! ik its basically a dead fandom now so most of the content ive been looking at is years old at this point but like they would be sooooo happy to know accurate grasps of their characters are near nonexistent.

like karma WANTS you to think he's a cool genius lone wolf who only cares about his own abilities!! meanwhile basically every single action he takes in the second half of the manga proves each of those traits to be false outright!!!

like hes (sort of) a team player! he knows everyones strengths! hes thinking about other ppls feelings when it comes to the assassination! he's been putting in insane amounts of effort since he failed that one final!

nagisa WANTS you to believe that he's a fully selfless, weak, support player while being pretty much the exact opposite!! but he doesnt work in a team he works best alone! literally w express permission to work fully solo during the war arc! he wasnt thinking of how everyone else felt during his proposal to save korosensei! he wanted to be the one to kill korosensei (somewhat selfishly)!!

the narrative foils are narratively foiling and no one wants to give it the proper respect it deserves smh.

the plot to yoi is genuinely so fucking funny like. this dude got drunk and danced with me and i was so haunted by his beauty all year that i quit my job as a world famous athlete and flew to japan. turns out he doesn't remember our first meeting and thought i was just a lunatic who showed up at his door and decided i was his boyfriend and he went along with it because im hot. we're engaged now

Considering Twilight's motivation to be a spy is to make a world where children can be happy, I think Anya saying she's happy in her family doesn't affect him that much because he's still separating the Loid Forger persona from who he truly is.

And though this one of the moments that are strong enough to put a smile on his face that hides some true emotion behind it, he can still feel "secure" in thinking that Anya loves Loid Forger, the fake persona he's created, and not the real him, and thus he doesn't contribute Anya's happiness to his real self, and thus it doesn't really hit him that hard. He sees himself simply as a manipulating liar who just happened to make a child happy with his lies, not with genuine effort to make her happy.

So I think it will absolutely fucking gut him when he'll find out Anya was reading his mind from the first moment, chose to stay with him because she saw the real him, believed in his good heart and trusted that he truly cares. He'll realize that Anya's happiness was actually depended on Loid Forger, Twilight the spy, and the real man behind it all. He'll realize that he made a child happy directly, not just with his hard work as a spy, or the lies he said to manipulate situations, but as the real, empathetic and caring person he is, no matter how deeply he tried to not let that person show.
