( I’m sorry, this is also why I hate people seeing sunny as cute little meow meows, being scared, and kind of cut off the part of him taking action in the ending. It not that I completely hate sunny, it’s like I really dislike some way of interpreting him, he is well written , kind and brave in the end, but there is some part he is definitely a ass and a coward. The argument is he is scared and we should respect give him time to process his grief. Yes, and so does basil. What does when it comes to basil this doesn’t apply to him? They are both scared and mess up on how they react. Add Aubrey in example, she use violence , and many hate her for that. Yes , that’s is an extreme response, but because sunny is not doing anything does not give him a pass to what he did

Oh I also think I think like this way is because I don’t see Omori and sunny two separate people. I felt sunny suppressed thought is all into Omori, making sunny as innocent as possible , as far away from the truth , and perhaps his true self. Omori take most the actions and intrusive thought. In Omori took over the dreamer endings, even though the visual show they merge, to me I interpreted as sunny separate himself from reality, hiding himself as the clean sunny, and Omori is the “him” that responsible all his past memory , and worries.

The ending of he tell the truth to everyone, sunny fused with omori, I interpreted more as sunny accepted his dream self is a part of him, his desired, dream and past, he accepted what all he has done.

they are all very kind children in Omori, even the town folk are unrealistically wholesome besides the hooligans. lot of fiction even irl, they ppl let go faster or don’t even bother. Sunny actually doesn’t need to come clean but because how close he was with all his friends and sister, he is innocent enough and felt like he has to tell the truth to his friends. To basil and sunny coming clean to their friends is their closer ( on sunny part, not 100 sure about basil) sometimes people never want to accept the truth, I just thought about what if one of them would prefer the lie. In Omori I felt the story, sunny is very dominate of what he effects to others, he chooses how the outcome is , and was highlighted with how weirdly passive of Basil waiting for sunny action ( as I say before I’m can not understand basil action a lot of times but we can just say he’s life is very sad and probably he is just a extremely secretive person) I don’t understand what’s the reason to kept the secret so long, where I felt like keeping the secret just for sunny.Or maybe he just a very loyal friend. See it this way, basil basically has no idea what to do so he let sunny to pick to tell or not, which saying he is ok of telling the truth but the only concern is for protecting sunny, not how he’s friends will see him or protecting his friends from the truth ( ok I might be wrong here I’m a bit lost, probably be reading it wrong again)
