Fine'ry Body Mist - Review!

I recently ran out of my favorite Gucci perfume that was gifted to me for a birthday, and I had to shop for affordable perfumes and body sprays for myself (Gucci was definitely not an option ;)). I started shopping at Target and found the Fine'ry body mist collection. There are 9 scents in this vegan and cruelty-free collection. After multiple test sprays of each scent, I landed on Jungle Santal.

Jungle Santal is a delicious, androgynous scent with notes of papyrus wood, Indian cardamom, and black oolong tea. The bottle itself is quite pretty although made of plastic. This can be expected from a body mist priced at $12.99. Upon spraying, I found the scent quite subtle, requiring a good three or four pumps. It smells more mature and sophisticated than other body mist scents on the market, which I appreciated. It is not too sweet or potent. The only issue I have with this mist is it fades rather quickly, and I find that I need to reapply a few times a day.

Overall, I would rate this product a 7/10. It smells great, but it could be more long-lasting. If you are willing to spend an extra few bucks, Fine'ry also carries perfumes for $27.99. Burt's Bees Tinted Lip Balm - Review!

We all have a go-to lip product. Whether it be a stick, a balm, or a gloss, there is something reassuring about having something reliable to put on your lips. You reach into your makeup bag and know exactly what to grab. If you haven't found your go-to, I have the product for you!

Today, I want to talk about Burt's Bees Tinted Lip Balm in the shade "Red Dahlia". This product has been my tried and true balm for the past few months. It is subtle yet striking and adds the perfect tint to bare lips.

Personally, I have been doing more natural makeup recently, and I was looking for something that enhanced my lips without being too flashy. I am fair-skinned, and this shade has been the perfect pop to add to my subtle looks.

For those of you who do not have a similar skin tone to me - never fear! I have a few friends who have used this product of different skin tones and who have loved this product.

Overall, I would rate this product a 9/10! This is coming from someone who is picky about their products! It is the perfect shade for me and just the amount of sheerness (and it is buildable!). It is also very hydrating, and I don't feel like I have to reapply constantly. The only negative thing that I noticed is it can break apart easily if you apply too much pressure to your lips!

Hello again!

Following Friday the 13th, I’m sure many of you are excited about Halloween. I know I am! From gory horror flicks to adorable jack-o’-lanterns, there is so much to love about October. Considering this, I know many of you will run into the same problem: what will you wear to Halloween festivities? Below I have compiled a list of costumes that are perfect for whether you’re going out on the town with your besties or staying in and passing out candy with your partners. Let's Talk Guts!

…and I'm not referring to the latest installment of the Saw franchise! I'm talking about the masterpiece of an album created by Olivia Rodrigo.

Olivia's sophomore album GUTS was released almost a month ago on September 8, 2023. Since the release, I'll admit, I've listened to the album every day. I can't get enough! The album truly takes the listener on a beautiful mental journey and portrays the story of a 19-year-old girl in a way that I have not heard before. Olivia has a gift for songwriting and an incredible voice to match it.

If you are in search of an album that is vulnerable, emotional, and playful, this is the album for you! GUTS opens with an angsty, angry song about societal expectations for women and growing up feeling the need to be perfect titled “all american bitch”. Olivia was definitely dabbling in a punk style with this song. “all american bitch” is followed by “bad idea right?” which has a similar angsty tone paired with a fun, playful music video. The third song “vampire” taps into Olivia’s melancholic, emotional breakup theme that was common in her first album Sour.

Moving into the second quarter of the album, “vampire” is followed by a lovely, devastating song about jealousy and insecurity titled “lacy”. Next up is a playful and upbeat song about feeling outcasted titled “ballad of a homeschooled girl”. The sixth track, “making the bed”, is a somber song detailing Olivia’s feelings of being lost and confused while growing up and meeting new people.

The third quarter of the album begins with “logical”. This is another gloomy song about love and heartbreak. The eighth song on GUTS is “get him back!”. This track takes a break from the melancholy with its cheery tone. It is followed by “love is embarrassing” which creeps back into the somberness of the rest of the album.

The tenth track on the album is “the grudge”. The track outlines a manipulative relationship and deep sadness and regret that comes with it. Next up is “pretty isn’t pretty” which details beauty standards and physical expectations created in society. GUTS is finished off with “teenage dream”. The concluding song ends the album on a vulnerable note with Olivia speaking about her experience with growing up too fast.

GUTS is the perfect album to play when you’re happy, sad, angry, or feeling alone in any emotion. Olivia Rodrigo has an incredible talent in songwriting allowing her to relate to so many people’s experiences being young and growing up. This album could replace the soundtrack in almost any coming-of-age movie seamlessly. Overall, I highly recommend GUTS by Olivia Rodrigo to anyone who has not had the pleasure of listening to the album yet!
