I'm a much better, more present parent when I've had a long weekend.

We didn't have students Friday, then it was the weekend, then we were off for Passover today. I was able to be so present and have so much fun with Squish and Tiny Sir when I picked them up from school.

In the last 10 days, I've been to convenient care twice, the emergency department once, and the babies' pediatrician twice.

Squish has/had: a virus (or multiple), severe diaper rash as a result of the sickness, fevers of 101.4+ for 5 days, a suspected GI bug

Tiny Sir has/had: rhinovirus, adenovirus, parainfuenza, an ear infection, stridor & retractions

Can we catch a break, please??

No one has been to daycare since 4/11.

No one from central office leadership showed up at my building today.

No one from central office leadership sent am email to acknowledge what is happening until 3:30 when thr asst sup of HR emailed to let us know she'd be there tomorrow to talk about next year's placements with all cert staff.

Roughly 390 people are being displaced and we didn't deserve some kind of something? Not from central office leadership or the board?

They brought the boxes today for us to pack up our careers and I cried.

This fucking sucks.

The vote is official. The school board voted to close my school at the end of the year and turn it into a dual language school.

Tomorrow night, my school board will vote to close my school as a neighborhood school thus forcing all the staff and students to other schools in the district.

This move isn't supported by the community. It isn't supported by the staff. And it isn't supported by many of the dual language community who will be taking over my school.

Everyone is devastated by this move. We've been advocating (parents and staff) since central office announced the plans in January (there have always been 2 schools on the table but we've all always known the 2nd school was never really considered).

I have to make big important decisions quickly. Will I stay in my district and teach at another school? Will I leave the district and teach elsewhere, likely taking a pay cut? Will I leave education altogether? I don't know yet. But my two tiny humans need me to make the best decision possible for us.

This sleep regression will be the death of me

Tiny Sir will not sleep unless I'm holding him or he's in my bed. It's 830, bedtime is 630 and he's still awake. Every single time I try ti leave the nursery, he's up and crying.

And Squish is still sick - last temp was 101.6 so like I will lose it if he wakes her up.

So I'm laying by his crib hoping he falls asleep and I can sneak out without waking him up. And then that he's asleep long enough for me to write sub plans and eat dinner.

I think Squish's fever finally broke. She's been hanging out at 101-103 for the past 48 hours but when I last checked her, she was in a pool of sweat and was 99.8

Sometimes you have to watch Micky Mouse at 3AM because one baby wakes up with a fever and the other is just awake so you have to edit your sub plans because you have to snuggle a sick baby instead of working.
