While I agree with most of this. I disagree with the idea that Ray would have made some different choices. Ray is willing, even at this moment, to be Mew’s second choice. NOTHING, would have stopped Ray from choosing Mew, no matter when the opportunity presented itself. In Ray’s mind, his love for Mew is real and true and it has been for a very long time. Even after all that time of Mew rejecting him and saying they’re not right for each other, he was holding on. I believe even HE is confused with what he feels. For example, the interrupted car moment. “What if’s” would linger in his mind heavily; Sand and Ray’s relationship would have been filled with little moments like that. Mew over Sand, even if they had a different title other than bed friends/FWB. Had Sand confessed, I think Ray would have accepted it and been gentle and sweet but he wouldn’t have been able to return them until he got “closure” with Mew.
So many people in the tags being all, "Ray needs to make a choice and stop stringing Sand along!!!" But this is exactly what I'm talking about. I firmly believe that if Sand would for a single second stop pushing Ray away by constantly saying they're nothing more than friends - and now not even that - Ray would be making some very different choices about who he wants to be with. But Ray can't trust Sand - the one person who's been honest with him about so much else - to be honest about Sand's own feelings, can't trust him to admit that he actually likes Ray.
Ray knows Sand likes him, he throws it in Sand's face in this ep, after making a million softer forays throughout the last several eps. But that means he also knows that for some reason, Sand not only won't admit it, but actively denies it, actively lies about it, rather than being with Ray. Liking Ray is apparently so awful that Sand won't even admit to it, certainly won't commit to it. So why would Ray choose a person who apparently doesn't really want to be with him? Why set himself up for continued rejection? What exactly should he do at this point? The ball's in Sand's court.

the actual problem in My Personal Weatherman isn't that segasaki doesn't want to or doesn't know how to confess his feelings, it's that yoh is absolutely not ready to hear it.
segasaki said "come live with me and I will take care of you" which is, as he later points out, very close to formulaic japanese confession and marriage proposal, and yoh went, gotcha, domestic slave. they had sex for the very first time and yoh doesn't say "ohhhh, you're into me, this is why you want me in your house and in your life, that makes sense ", or something reasonable, yoh says "ugh, chores" which is: fucking cold, dude. segasaki fell in love first, and he is acutely aware of it! every time he sees some space for pushing, he pushes the relationship forward, but he's terrified that yoh is going to run off from him! so he doesn't act like a boyfriend, until he does, and yoh still fights him even on their date, refusing to accept: food, hand, clothes.
do we really think yoh will hear "i like you, let's be together forever" and will be like "yeah, nice"? while he's still saying "I hate you" because he can't deal with his emotions?
this is why segasaki is relieved when yoh is jealous. because they're progressing. this is why segasaki keeps saying "don't you hate me, though?" while they're close, while they're on a date, while they're having sex: because it's bullshit and segasaki is right there with him, doing these things, obviously not disliking yoh.

Segasaki is literally using every single way of showing love except his words.
He wants them to eat together.
He checks up on Yoh while they're both working.
He wants him to do things he enjoys.
He takes care of him when he's scared.
He gets jealous
He buys him gifts.
He makes love to him.
He knows he loves him.
But he never actually says his feelings or uses the word date or brings up their relationships. He acts on all of that but he doesn't say it and because he's the Dom in this and has so much control over their lives... Yoh is still adrift.
(The hardest part is that Segasaki can tell Yoh loves him but doesn't seem to fully understand that Yoh doesn't see his love in return.)
