Came across more posts talking about how 40k is a parody of Fascism, it's designed to show how bad Fascism is.
Which is especially funny, as the Imperium of Man is not Fascist.
But, the point of the setting is:
Justify every faction fighting each other.
Throw in a bunch of really cool things.
Why have they forgotten how to make technology? To justify having god-like relics. And to justify engineers carrying around censers and having burning candles on their body.
Battle Mechs are cool, but they are even cooler when you make them cathedral-like god machines.
Battleships are the size of cities, because they user ladder logic, because they had a little bit of a problem with Men of Iron. This also has one of the horrifyingly banal aspects of the setting, servo-skulls.
These comments usually result in one place, demanding the setting more overtly criticize Fascism. That's not the point of the setting.

"The Price of War"
So here's an illustration that I finished today, based on a older artwork I had drawn a few years ago.
