We have started harvesting Block S, a 47 year old Chenin Blanc block and the oldest vineyards on the farm. The Swartland has become well known for the high quality of Chenin it produces. Chenin Blanc is a white wine grape variety that is known for its versatility and ability to produce a wide range of wine styles. It originated in the Loire Valley of France. Chenin Blanc wines can range from dry to sweet, and can exhibit a range of flavors such as honey, floral, and fruit notes, with high acidity and a refreshing finish. We always begin our harvesting period with picking the grapes for the base wines used in the production of our bubbly’s (Chardonnay is these pics), when sugar levels in the grapes are low.
