The car crash In the film there is a close up of Uma in an open top car, her hair is blowing in the wind. During this scene it also impacted the rest of her life just like the abuse. During this scene there was the car, which wasn’t working properly, Uma had to drive the car in order to get the shot of her Tarentino wanted. Unfortunately for Tarentino Uma did not want to drive the car as she…

1.12.17
Today we were given an assignment for PDP to collaborate with the fashion and textile students. among ourselves, we had to get into pairs, I was going to work with Amber on this project, we were then assigned one textiles student, called Sophie,  each one had made one item that we had to make a short film about.
We met up with our textiles student, Sophie on the 4.12.17, we were all given our brief which was to make the short film and then left by ourselves in our groups of three to discuss ideas.
Firstly we looked at sophies jersey she made which was a bicycle shirt that she designed and the fashion students made after it won the competition the previous year on her course. The jersey was then placed in a shop on the Barbican for them to put in the window.
Her design of the jersey is plane with some astech design on it, mainly on the back of thejersey. The designs are mainly black with a few yellows and reds and greens going through the black patterns. These are the designs of the jersey.
We were excited to work with Sophie on making the film on her jersey because it was made really well and we instantly came up with loads of ideas.
We asked Sophie what she was expecting from the film and she said something imaginative, she wanted the patterns to “move around” which got me and Amber thinking. Sophie had to leave early before the session ended because of a Christmas works do so Amber and I got thinking about ideas.
We focused on sophies idea about the patterns moving and we weren’t sure how to do this with the jersey already made, even our tutors weren’t sure about this so I said to amber about making a stop motion animation and making it look fake it may work out better than trying to make it look not fake.
We went through loads of ideas such as having somebody riding a bike with the jersey on, making a film like the ‘Gotye – Somebody that I used to know’ music video, in the video the man and woman featured, are painted slowly throughout the video is time-consuming.
We had an idea of then making a stop motion of a man wearing the jersey an having paper or cardboard cutouts of the trees and wind behind him gradually joining into the top.
These are the storyboards Amber drew up along with our notes.

We then tried to meet up with Sophie about our idea but that didn’t work out well after our schedules clashed. We have been communicating through email about the ideas. We send Sophie an email about the idea to which she replied back to our email days later that she didn’t like the idea, however she did misunderstand what we were saying. She thought we were going to make an animation which would mean not including the jersey. This is not what we were planning on making and relayed this back to Sophie to which she said that “she is sure we will make something good” so from the lack of information she gave us we just went with her original idea of something imaginative and with the colours and patterns moving.

Individual film - Rad 002
Individual film – Rad 002
13.11.17. My idea for the individual film. Over the past few weeks, I have been trying to think of ideas that I could do for my individual film for Rad and I thought of maybe doing a dance film. The first idea I had was to have a ballet dancer in a church. I have seen before some beautiful churches with the light beaming through the stained glass windows. In the Rad project, I was the…

10.11.17. Kodak Brief
This week in PDP we were given our Kodak brief for the assignment. There were many companies that were in touch with Lucy for a promotional video/advert. They were; Not on the high street, Vagaband, ATAXIA awareness and Healthy back bag. After hearing what each company was selling and what they were expecting through the from us I knew what companies I wanted to pitch an idea for.
The first company is Vagaband, they’re a new company selling wristbands that are practically indestructible. The band is designed for travellers which can use the band to store any numbers they may need and medical information.
The company ‘Not on the high street’ is an online site that sells unique personalised gifts.
I went home and thought about what I could do for each company and I would choose the best one. I thought of a funny advert for Vagaband, which is exciting because I never usually go down the comedic path for films (even though I would love to).
The idea for the band was to have one actor going through all these bad obstacles such as water and fire, also, having the band pulled around etc showing the viewers what the band can do.
17.11.17. Planning for the pitch
I was working with Amber on this project, I told her about my idea for Vagaband which she loved, however, she also thought of a really good idea for Not on the high street which she had already written up, I loved this idea too which made us really stuck to choose one so we asked Lucy if we could possible pitch both ideas which she said we could which was amazing so we decided to do both.
This is the idea for Not on the high street.
Tumblr media
I worked on planning and researching the Vagaband for the pitch on the following week, while Amber focused on Not on the high street, keeping each other in the loop it worked out really well.
We had to make a presentation for the pitch as well as a mood reel and mood board, also we had to type up a treatment.
We decided to concentrate on one each and just make sure any changes we made were ran by each other first, for example, I wasn’t sure how to end the Vagaband advert so I asked Amber if I should use an ending which had a lion or some sort of animal that he jokes about the band not protecting you from being eaten but then I didn’t like the idea so we then thought of it ending with the actor talking about the band instead.
This is the brief for the Vagaband

I researched Vagaband when I knew I was going to go through with the idea.

7.11.17
This evening i found out that my group weren’t doing the living room scene anymore but we were now taking on the graduation scene which I’m really excited to do. This is where he is sat at his desk in school and the film crew come in and change his clothes and give him a scroll to show his life is speeding up to when he is an adult. I love films/videos that show the set i find is fascinating so I’m really excited to make one myself and film it. Examples are ‘The life aquatic’ show the set of the boat while they’re walking through, another is Liam Gallagher music video where he is singing in a music video but it is all on set, you see the behind the scenes and what is going on.
I got to take some test shots today too with Rusty, we didn’t use the camera we are meant to be using because we didn’t have a memory card for it yet so we used a black magic camera which i have never used before, however i found it a lot easier to use than a DSLR.
We went to the ERC and booked out the track and the crane. I have set up the track before but never the crane so i was excited to do this. Surprisingly it wasn’t as hard as i thought it would be, me and the other camera operators set up the equipment ready for test shots.
Luckily we were testing a scene from what i am filming so i was happy to have a practice run to get an idea of the way the camera was going to be moving.
We used a few people to practice with, pretending to be the actor and a case to be the record player and started filming some test shots, i found it hard at first because it was really light and i was moving it too fast but after a few attempts i got it just right.

Screen craft
6.11.17. Screen craft This morning we watched the trailer to the film Hanna (2011) and critically evaluated it as a class. Being the camera operator in our project this was interesting to me as it was about exposure and how to film certain scenes if you don’t have access to them or an actor that you wanted. In the opening title scene all you can see in the free is two twigs from a tree. The title…
