History - The Last London Gangster 

Sidney Wright, the author, is a man currently serving 21 years in prison for cocaine importation and arms dealing. In the year 2007 he was caught smuggling 10 kilos of cocaine and 7 semi-automatic handguns into the UK. Using his own aeroplane that he kept at a private airfield in Essex, he would fly out of the country under the radar into Southern Belgium (something that took him many months to figure out) in order to smuggle the drugs and guns back into the country undetected. Detectives investigating the murder of John “Goldfinger” Palmer have revealed the spy hole through which the notorious gangster was tracked before being shot dead. Officers have revealed the gangland kingpin was “stalked like an animal” before being executed in cold blood as he lay on the ground, as his family announced they are doubling the reward to £100,000 in the hope of encouraging an underworld informant to come forward with information.

Diner from gangster classic Goodfellas destroyed in fire

The diner that featured in classic gangster film Goodfellas has been severely damaged in a fire. Reports reveal that the iconic eatery based in Queens, New York caught fire on Monday afternoon (11 June) in a blaze which drew more than 60 firefighters to the scene. While nobody was injured, the co-owner Denise Diamantis told the New York Post: “Everything is destroyed. My God, everything is destroyed.”
