Yay! I found the lyrics to Tonbokiriās new solo -Ā āRe:verseā that was revealed that Shinken Ranbu Sai 2022~! Source here!!Ā
So it really is about a lost or fruitless loveā¦ orz Itās so sad and basically a āreverseā of his song āReal Loveā??Ā āReal Loveā was him giving into his feelings even though they areĀ āforbiddenā.Ā āRe:verseā is him choosing to deny these feelings, but then he regrets denying them??
Anyway, lyrics translated using DeepL.
Re:verse
Tonbokiri solo
Sung by Spi
I canāt think of a word.
No sorry, no sly excuses.
You only tell the sweetest lies
But you pretend not to notice, and then you hurt me again
If the hands of the clock were turned back
If Iād done the right thing in love
Iād have your distant back in my arms
I fell into the sleepless night sky
For the first time I could see you just as you are
I gently caress your lips and say itās the last time
Iām the reason itās over, but youāre the reason Iām smiling
I close my eyes and when tomorrow comes
Iām sure that a love that will never come true again will begin
Floating in and out
āIām sorryā*
Iām the only one to blame
Orionās light was shining on me
I canāt hide my feelings from you
I fell into the sleepless night sky
For the first time I could see you just as you are
I gently caress your lips and say itās the last time
Iām the reason itās over, but youāre the reason Iām smiling
I close my eyes and tomorrow will come
Iām sure that a love that will never come true again will begin
*theĀ āIā here isĀ āwatashiā, so itās not Tonbo saying this? he usesĀ ābokuā to refer to himself in this song
I'm pretty much not happy at all that people referring Touken Ranbu as "Gay swords". The thing is, it's pretty much disrespectful for the actor and the whole series that doesn't even put any romantic things on their plays. And as always, if you aren't even bother to watch or even to know the shows and such, then don't even bother to refer them as something like that.
(I found this when i was reading Oshi no Ko. The manga itself is interesting but found this page really gave me a turn off for this series. If you want to educate your reader then try to educate it without using an offensive things)
Itās nice to know exactly how many siblings Kuwana has! XD Unlike Ichigoā¦
And I really want to see what the Tourabu version of Tomita Gou looks like. Tomita is supposed to be āthe best of the Gou Swordsā. I love her in Tenka Hyakken Zan. I hope Tomita will be considered the eldest too in Touken Ranbu.
Iāve had a lot of people ask me recently about how to buy tickets for stages in Japan, and so I decided rather than replying to everyone individually I would just make a post in the hope it could also help other people out. The details in this post apply to stage shows only. Iām not going to get into the minefield of other events because they vary so much that itād be impossible to put somethingā¦
What are the top ten honest to God WERIDEST POTO acting choices you've seen?
Itās not top ten, but I did make a gifset of my top...six, I suppose, here. I might be able to think of more fun ones, like...
Chris Mann attempting to punch Christine in the face after she āunmasksā him (by which I mean she taps him on the shoulder):
I love Gina Beck so I say this with the greatest affection, but her orgasm pose in the middle of āMusic of the Nightā:Ā
This is probably more of a directorial choice, since every actor does it, but Japanese Raoul reacting to Madame Giry by... spinning:
And on the topic of the Japanese production, boner Phantom (Eiji Akutagawa getting enthusiastic in the middle of āPoint of No Returnā):
Geronimo Rauch ripping off his tie after he frees Raoul? Because... parallel?
Maybe Tim Howar nose-booping his Christine:
Luis Armando looking very much like he is licking his Christine:
And of course, Norm Lewis dancing:
A lot of itās from the replica production, because in the non-replicas itās harder to differentiate between actor choice and directorial choice, but thereās a small sampling of funny bits Iāve noticed over the years! And note the description in the gifset I linked: just because the actor is on here doesnāt mean I donāt love the rest of their performance.
Concepts of Each Sword According to the Touken Ranbu Movieās Stunt Coordinator
(This is a summarized translation of āKeypoint 3: Actionā in Ginmaku no Touken Danshi, the behind the scenes special of the Touken Ranbu movie. The comments were made by Hibari Daisuke, the movieās stunt coordinator.)
ā Mikazuki Munechika - Fights with grace and beauty. His movements are akin to Nichibu (which, according to Wikipedia, ārefers to a few dance genres such as kabuki buyÅ performed in theatre, and Kamigata mai that encompasses the style of dancing performed by geisha .ā). And even when heās in a pinch, he still seems like heās got a handle on the situation.
ā Yamanbagiri Kunihiro - Has a sword and a metal scabbard; Heās not exactly dual wielding but he could cut down enemies with his sword and use his scabbard to deal a blow. Some Battoujutsu (a combative quick-draw sword technique) was also incorporated into his fighting style.
ā Yagen Toushirou - Heās a tantou so heās a close combat fighter. He gets into his opponentās space to take them down. His actor is very nimble, so the coordinator gradually added in more soaring jumps to being out more of his potential.
ā Fudou Yukimitsu - Heās done somersaults and aerial stunts before, so the stunt coordinator incorporated the stunts the actor could do, and some moves similar to Druken Boxing but for a tantou.
ā Heshikiri Hasebe - At first, the stunt coordinator had a totally different image in mind for Hasebe. Given the swordās lines (āOshikiru!ā or āPressure slash!ā) and history, he had pegged Hasebe as the epitome of a Japanese period drama (Jidaigeki). When he first presented his idea to his actor, Wada rejected it, saying, āThis isnāt what Hasebeās like. Heās more cavalier, like a knight.ā So he decided to rethink the concept. It didnāt feel enough to just make Hasebeās moves knightly,Ā so he incorporated so Chinese-style sword fighting into Hasebeās repertoire, and he whirls his sword round and round as he fights.
A new song opened the second act of Kotobuki. My best, late night, emotional-fuelled attempt at a translation are below, with some rather lengthy notes at the end.
Within the distant haze of sunrise that heralds springĀ
are the delicate, beautiful cherry blossoms in bloom
and springtime peaks rising towards the sky.
Birds who have long hidden their songs will come forth to sing.
Soaring through the heavens, their hearts dreaming.
Born of the heavens, their wings dreaming.
Iwatooshi belonged to a warrior monk named Musashibou Benkei. At some point, Benkei was driven out from the temple he was studying at due to his overly violent behavior, and so he went around japan training his strength. He traveled around different places, and then went to Kyoto. He stood on a bridge from Kyoto called Gojou Bridge, where he would challenge passing samurai to duels. After defeating them, Benkei would take their swords. By doing this he managed to collect 999 swords. This scene here is Benkeiās famous sword 999 swords.
By the way the 1000th person Benkei challenged was Imanotsurugiās owner, Minamoto no Yoshitsune. Benkei couldnāt defeat Yoshitsune and became his retainer afterwards because of how impressed he was.
The Kurama temple had taken custody of Yoshitsune at an early age after most of his family was killed in the result of a civil war involving the Taira clan. In this temple Yoshitsune was supposedly thought swordsmanship by the Tengu that inhabited the area. However he later on left the temple as he did not want to pursue a life as a monk.
Iām not too sure about the shrine and templeās locations, but from what I understand both the Kifune shrine and Kurama temple have staircases with these lanterns leading to them. The Kifune shrine can be reached from Kurama temple and itās supposedly where Yoshitsune went to pray at.
On the staircases you can see some Japanese Fatsia leaves, which are used by Tengu as fans. The fall plants are probably there because of the mountain the shrine and temple are at. Tengu also live in mountains.
Thereās also the plants from Minamoto clan crest, also visible in Iwatooshiās shot.
Also this was in the 3rd ED too but the maple leaf Imanotsurugi is holding can meanĀ āprecious memoriesā.Ā
Now these blank scrolls here are from a popular Kabuki play called Kanjincho. Fleeing his brother who wanted him dead, Yoshitsune traveled with Benkei and eventually reached the Ataka frontier. Yoshitsune, Benkei, and the rest of their followers tried to pass through by pretending to be traveling priests seeking donations for a temple. Theyāre asked for a Kanjinchou to prove theyāre really priests. Unfortunately they didnāt have one, so instead Benkei pulled out a blank scroll and began reading from it as if it were a real Kanjinchou. So hereās the blank scroll from the story.Ā
In the end Yoshitsune couldnāt escape and went on to commit seppuku. Meanwhile Benkei stalled the enemy forces by standing between them and Yoshitsune. They were afraid to challenge Benkei head on, so instead they fired arrows at him until he died. During the rain of arrows Benkei firmly stood there and even died while standing.Ā
This is the bridge where Yoshitsune and Benkei first met. Thereās also purple clouds here. Yoshitsuneās death poem right before he separated from Benkei mentions them: āJoin me in the next world, and the next, until we mount to paradise, on a purple cloud.ā
Also I am not too familiar with this but apparently Buddha welcomes the spirits of the dead by greeting them on a purple cloud. Before this scene thereās a sacred lotus flower too which relates to Buddhism as well.
And the flowers here are Spiderworts corresponding to the date 6/15, the day Yoshitsune and Benkei died. In flower language it can mean strong respect, like what Benkei and Yoshitsune had for each other.Ā
The flowers in the previous shot next to the bridge are Kousa Dogwood, which also correspond to the date 6/15. But in flower language they mean friendship, so maybe itās symbolizing how their friendship began at the bridge and also the day it came to an end.Ā
The swallows that you see flying around come from a childrenās song about Benkei and Yoshitsuneās encounter at the bridge. It compares Yoshitsuneās swift movements to a swallow. (also probably added this since Imanotsurugi has a very childlike attitude in general ; ;)
The big wheels in the back also an emblem of the Minamoto clan. If you look carefully thereās also some fans. Both of those things are visible on Higekiri and Hizamaru, who also belonged to the Minamoto clan.
Shokudaikiri didnāt have enough aburaage (deep-fried tofu) to make inarizushi for everyone, so Tsurumaru proposed playing Rock-Paper-Scissors to decide who gets to eat his food. However, Mikazuki didnāt seem to know how the game worksā¦ Yamanbagiri steered them back on topic before they could discuss if Mikazukiās win counted, but then Mikazuki went ahead and ate the inarizushi while everyone else was distracted. ^^;
My favourite part of Hidenās backstage (but itās honestly hard to choose)ā¦
One of the War Councilās adlibs. Apparently, there can never be a War Council without food related issues XD
im very grateful for the lessons in photography i was taught in stop motion class because just now they made it possible to photograph the stars with my phone in spite of the camera usually not detecting the light of stars because theyre so dim,,,, enjoy these shiny motherfuckers
