This is me making my way over to read the latest fic or sneak peek every single time ✨
it’s less of a writing game today and more a writing question, but i’m curious: how did you come up with the idea to write your current wip? did you have a ship in mind and then find an idea that would work, or did you have an idea and then find a ship for it? if it was the latter, what other ships did you consider (if any)?
Hello my sweet darling angel light of my life Gi <3333 what a fun answer this will be :)
The idea for my current wip came from SOMEBODY posting a set of photos with some very interesting tags.
And then I, a certified figure skating fanatic, replied something along the lines of “don’t tempt me” and SOMEONE sent me more photos from this shoot and a formal request to write a skating au.
So from there I began brainstorming various prompts and concepts. It took me at least a week or two to settle on the current one (attempt 3), and lots of encouragement from @lady-assnali who is my #1 cheerleader always and forever
The concept actually was somewhat inspired by @aqpippin because I had recently read their iconic 5+1 goodecox story (post the last chapter I am BEGGING I am pleading I am on my hands and knees) and also I had a few key ideas for moments that could happen throughout and the story formed from there. I didn’t fully settle on the concept in its finalized form until relatively recently, but now that I’m almost finished I have a solid grasp on the idea 😂
It was always going to be crygi, since it is being written for a legend and icon in the crygi world, but it did break my heart slightly to make my first Olympic-centric story not rosenali. Also I was fully assuming I would give up and not do it since I had never written any of these characters before, but everyone has been so kind and encouraging and here we are, the finish line in sight :)

Denali had a reputation among the skating community for always falling for a fellow athlete at every competition she went to. And as her friend, Gigi knew this better than anyone. But that didn’t stop it from being annoying as hell to get kicked out of her own room at nearly every competition.
“She’s this Scottish snowboarder, I think her name is Rosé? Oh my god, she’s so hot, I think I’m in love. And that accent. I almost proposed on the spot, I swear on my life,” Denali gushed, turning to look at Gigi with a wide smile lighting up her face.
Gigi pursed her lips to hide her smile. “Wow, proposing already. That's quite a vote of confidence for this competition's girl of the week,” She hummed, cracking up as she dodged the pillow Denali chucked at her in lieu of a response. “How long are you expecting her to stay? I need my beauty sleep, you two can’t have the room all night.”
“But I need post-sex cuddles, Geeg. You should see her arms, she's so strong. I bet she could lift both of us without breaking a sweat.”

Okay so
-the Eras Tour movie was so good and I danced the whole night it was gorgeous. But I do wish more people actually danced bc I did go opening night and my theater felt a little mid compared to what I’ve seen.
-I worked last night and lemme tell you, the new generation of “old east coast money” is so fucking nice, the older generation can be a hit or miss for me but I don’t remember a younger “old money” person being rude to me.
-after two consecutive days of getting home at 2am I literally can’t move my body today 😂

WIP Wednesday on a Thursday
(Bc yesterday was insane and today is insane and we’re really just clamoring to survive this week. And I was going to skip but I need everyone who’s been here for the teacher au to understand that while I’m so excited for rosenali Halloween, this is coming too.)

“Okay, so it’s not that I don’t get it because I totally do. Kind of. But this is my sister and you’re being an ass, and you’re asking things of her that are really not fair at all. And I’m over it.”
“Jan’s being too nice. Nothing is justified. We all get your side of the story from what we’ve heard but your retaliation is honestly bullshit. You’re being a baby, and you’re wrecking her. And I’m sorry if you don’t have friends but you’re not about to come here and take all of hers and make her isolate herself from her safe place…her safe place where her entire family is.”
“Okay, maybe we need to just take a breath.”Crystal interjects, holding a hand on Lagoona’s shoulder.
“Maybe we don’t.”
All three of them turn to stare at Denali, who’s balancing precariously on a tightrope of her own feelings. She’s afraid to move, afraid to speak lest something terrible come out of her mouth. She’s aware of her hot head, she’s aware of her temper, and right now both are flaring simply in a fight or flight response where fighting seems much more satisfying.
But she knows it won’t be.
She also knows she doesn’t have a leg to stand on; everything Lagoona and Jan are saying is right. Crystal’s only asking them to back up because she’s both incredibly kind and sensitive to the tension that’s bubbling over.

“I know. It’s not the same, but I appreciate it nonetheless. I just wish I could shake these stupid nerves, and you’re the only one who knows how to get me out of my head.” She frowned, looking back at Crystal.
“I know, and I’m right here. And Geeg, no matter what happens out there, I’m gonna be right here, cheering you on and being the proudest person in literally the entire universe, even more than your mom which is saying something, and you’re gonna make the entire world fall in love with you,” Crystal said decidedly. Gigi felt like her heart was blooming.
“Thanks, I needed to hear that. I can do this. I know I can. I’m gonna ace this, give you something to be proud of.”
“I’m gonna be proud no matter what, even if you fall on your ass on every component–”
“Don’t speak that into the world! God!”
Crystal laughed brightly. “Even if you fall a million times and forget half of your routine. Which would never ever happen because you are a consummate professional. I’d still be stupidly proud, even then.”
