“I don’t know about me being miraculous,” he said, shrugging his shoulders as he pointed at his chest before chuckling a bit, “but if you need someone to semi-offend you, I can take the job.” Alex couldn’t help but tease before inhaling sharply through his teeth. “Perhaps, you’re being an idiot,” he joked before tilting his head as he swirled the drink in his hand before tilting his head. “A step-mom to do blow with sounds like the dream though,” he said taking a sip of his drink before tilting his head. “I’ve had some of the best epiphanies on coke,” he pointed out with a smile. “Besides, why do you need someone to tell you you’re an idiot?” he asked, furrowing his eyebrows. 

“No no no,” she waved her hands at him slightly. “Not perhaps, you have to take the perhaps out.” She laughed as she ran her index finger along the rim of her glass. “She was kind of the best. We shared clothes and she got be really good liquor.” Pushing her blonde hair over her shoulder she agreed with him. Coke did wonderful things when she needed it to. “Thats a long story that I don’t think anyone has time for.”

“I dunno, I know plenty of people who do coke who are absolutely wonderful human beings,” Sam said with a chuckle, smoking a cigarette, “And really, by time you get to fourth wife, is there any sanctity left in the marriage? It’s barely even cheating by that point.” He took a drag of his cigarette, trying to just be a supportive, friendly voice for the girl. “And, and here’s the kicker, maybe you’re not being an idiot. Maybe you are just figuring yourself out and that road requires you to go through…all this.” He gestured at empty space, his cigarette vapor trails making a lazy halo in the air. “I don’t think you can wait for someone else to tell you who you are or whether you’re fucking up. Trust me, I tried. Only you can do that, princessa.”

Sam playfully bumped shoulders with the girl, chuckling. “But then again, I’m a loser who dropped out of college, so what do I know?” He took another drag on the cigarette, staring off into the abyss.

“I’m obviously one of those people,” she teased with a small smile. Sienna chewed on the inside of her cheek as he spoke, her mind wondering when he started to make sense. He seemed too good for the world sometimes. Resting her chin in her hand, her eyes met his again. “I think we both know I’m never going to tell myself i’m a fuck up.” She did it everyday, but that didn’t mean it made her change her ways. “I mean who knows. Maybe one day I’ll wake up and stop doing drugs and fucking people I met five minutes ago, or i’m going to be the one who ends up being someones fourth wife.” 

In her eyes he wasn’t a loser, but is statement still made her laugh.

“I feel like I’m waiting for someone miraculous to come into my life and tell me I’m being an idiot. Maybe...and trust me this is a maybe, but maybe i’ll believe them.” She took a sip from her drink, looking at them with a small shrug. “I swear I sometimes wonder if that person was my dads fourth wife, but then I remember we did coke together at the family christmas party so it couldn’t be her.”
