It really annoys me how the IT movie it's finally the adaptation that at least confirms that richie likes eddie, but they didn't even have anything as small as richie giving eddie nicknames. Or like any of the small moments that the two had in the book. It's literally driving me insane atm aijsdiashfuahdfasj

It’s bizarre, isn’t it? If they supposedly planned for Richie to be gay from the get go, you’d think they’d include him calling Eddie “cute” (which is a canon thing he does) or the nicknames (the lack of Eds being given any weight is just so baffling), why omit that? God, I remember before the movie came out thinking “wow, I can’t believe Muschietti is gonna have Eddie be the one to indicate Richie’s sexuality rather than some flat OC with no character, that’s a first, good on him” and then sure enough the movie comes out with stupid Bowers’ cousin which, okay, fine, you need a hamfisted excuse for Richie to get bullied by Bowers and segue into more spooky clown jumpscares. But why in the fuck did they not have a scene where Eddie finds Richie immediately afterwards? It would be a perfect opportunity to display why Richie loves Eddie, why he went and carved R+E in the bridge, and would just be much needed connective tissue. Just a cute little moment, that’s all we needed. But of course you can’t have a gay character experience a healthy, happy moment, you can only imply they’re gay in the context of it being miserable and isolating. This is one of those things, alongside Mike’s treatment in both films, where the decisions made will frustrate and confuse me till the end of time.

They walk out of the hospital, Richie reluctantly reaches for his hand to help him to the car but Eddie takes his arm and pulls him in and kisses him on the mouth. Richie is in shock but kisses him back. When Eddie pulls away he says, “I can handle myself, ya know.” Richie smiles and says, “You sure can.” Cut to Ben and Bev on that boat, cut to Bill and Mike’s phone call. Cut back to Richie and Eddie in Richie’s red mustang, wide shot, Richie driving and Eddie excitedly reaches over to kiss him on the cheek in the same place he once kicked him with a socked foot. Richie laughs and looks at him briefly. Stan’s voice over the scene, “Be who you want to be, be proud.” Richie holds Eddie’s hand. Zoom in on his smiling face. Cut to the aerial shot of Derry. End movie. Fuck everything.
