I think that it could be with a war with White Diamond
When she saw Steven she tried to infuse Steven and Pink then Steven “die” and Pink saw her child and start cried and Steven revived with Pink hair just like  Lars.Â
When WD was defeated then all crystal gems returned to Earth with a bunch of other gems like themÂ
And then Steven introduces Pink to Greg and Greg surprised recognized herÂ
Then all the crystal gems life happyÂ
And Connie and Steven stay together as a coupleÂ

Rose quartz good or bad?
*spoiler alert you have to see a single pale rose before read this post *
As always this is only my shitty opinionÂ
Okay let’s take a look to a Rose quartz character
First we have as the other crystal gems (except pearl), Steven and Greg a vision that rose is the best person you’ve ever gonna know it was always perfect, kind sweet with an big heart and big ideals. In other words this is a Mary Sue character.
Then the series avances and we discovered the dark side of rose
-she has so many secrets
-she didn’t understand a lot of  human things
-she didn’t understand love
In other words she isn’t so perfect like we thoughtÂ
And now with the last episode of Steven Universe we understand why.
She is Pink diamondÂ
Rose quartz never existed she isn’t a real person. She is a lie itself
With that quote in mind and what the little things we know about pink Diamond we discovers that pink diamond acts like a child/teenagers that wants to the others diamond respect.
She wants to take her seriously
For that reason she starts a colony in earth but she discovers the life on earth and what it means. But suddenly she discovered what would happen if the colony kept going the earth will die.
So she tried to talk with the other diamonds put a lot of excuses and afraid that if she told them that she did not want to continue the colony because she had discovered how beautiful life on earth was, they decided to throw her aside and appropriate that colony in other words continue that project.
She tried to preserve life on Earth she tried to preserve the humans she had and idea a human zoo.
But she realised that humans aren’t free they have a voice who tell them when to eat, when to play and who they mate. They don’t have freedom they don't even know what love is.
At some point she decide what if someone thinks like me what if one of my servants do a rebeliĂłn agains me ? That could be stop the project!
But she knows that non of the inferior gems are going to do this (none of them was free, none questioned the system
The gems born and obeyed the system there was nobody with their own mentality, with different ideas. )
Gems born and they know what they suppose to do and be foreverÂ
So she create her alter ego Rose quartz because she was the only one really free in that system.Â
(Unfortunately she can’t get rid now of the zoo that makes the diamonds suspicious about it after all the project will continue and she wanted at the same time preserve life so the zoo was the logic solution to this that’s what the rest of the diamonds thinks)Â
If I could became a inferior gem maybe other gems can open their eyes they can see the beauty around them
[With this maybe at this point or maybe when she starts the rebelion she had to make a decision “poofed” the rest of Rose quartz for two reasons:
- to keep her alter ego to be discovered
- to keep save the rest of rose quartz to be destroyed ]
So with that idea in mind:
“If I could became a inferior gem maybe other gems can open their eyes they can see the beauty around them”
And they did it, the crystal gems open their eyes and start think different they want to be free they want to be whatever they want to be.
With this new persona she can be free, she can make the other gems free and she can save the earth.
But even with this start of rebelion the situation didn’t change the rest of the diamonds wants her to continued the project and worse now because gems died and humans it was a war after all
How could Pink end this?
She thinks that pretend her own death was the only fast path to end all of this to finally be free not only her also the rest of their gems and the earth will be save.
But she didn’t expect the songs of the rest of the diamonds the light of corruption.Â
With this rose realise that she has to became perfect she has to restore all the damage that she cause for her risky actions.Â
She has to became that ideal person that she created she had to change she feels like shit. She cried a lot during the war and after the corruption. She has a fucking fountain/sanctuary of healing tears she had to cried a lot when she realised that with her decision screw the things up..
She thinks so low of herself that she could not understand why someone loves her and what is love in the first place.
The same ending song of the SU said itÂ

I could even learn how to love

Wondering when I'm coming back
I could do about anything
I could even learn how to love like you

I always thought I might be bad

She wants to change to someone better so badly, she wants to learn what is love, she wants to discover love and love someone and she want to restore all that damage
She makes a lot of mistakes and wants to made up for this for her risky she was a teenager who screw a lot of things and unfortunately Steven has to continue made up for all these mistakes and said the others the truthÂ
Bismuth saidÂ
“You really are better than her”Â
And he really is rose finally became someone different someone better someone who can do the things right.Â
And love Greg could realise this. She could became one being that is always changing with the potential to be even betterÂ
She really wants to have a birth a Steven and be a part of someone extraordinaryÂ
In conclusionÂ
Rose quartz was just a teenager trying to do the right thing but in the end screw the things up and tried to made up for it.
