Ryan and Shane: A Quest for Unsolved Cases
Tumblr media
By: Kitz Dianne Tuburan
The two unlikely friends, Ryan Bergara and Shane Madej, are the presenters of the best content on YouTube right now, the BuzzFeed Unsolved. Whether you are skeptic or a believer of supernatural entities, with the combination of a well researched cases and spooky-comedic interaction between the two. This series is more than happy to keep you hooked.
I am terribly awful at keeping up with a TV series. I always end up either getting sick of it or falling in love with another show then gets rid of the other. However, I had a change of heart after discovering BuzzFeed Unsolved. Bergara, a die-hard believer of the supernatural elements - who also does the deep-sexy commentary, not to mention that he does all the research for the show. While his "other half" Madej is the skeptic one who always puts a touch of humour on the show. This duo always clash that the fans/viewers have come up with a fandom name - the "Boogaras", Ryans fan's club and the "Shaniacs", Shane's fandom. Though, it's all just a plain healthy disagreement.

The very first unsolved case I stumbled into was The Bizarre Death of Elisa Lam, a case which I have heard and read a lot before. I got tired of the lack of interactive approach of the repetitive websites that featured the story and decided to click on the recommended video of BuzzFeed. Little did I know that I'd get addicted and spent the rest of the night watching other episodes. The pair have explored places that have claims of having demonic infestation or even murder sites. They always do an amazing job in arranging the visuals related to the story plus the accurate easy-to-follow timeline of events. In addition, the commentaries add a certain fun and character in each episode. It's not a surprise that the show is racking up an average of six to seven million views per episode, and Ryan & Shane have no intentions of stopping. As they continue to prowl the world of the unknown.
For anyone who takes interest on murder cases, alien abductions or any supernatural themed series, "BuzzFeed Unsolved" could meet all the criteria for a good show. You can find the series on YouTube and it's time for you to decide whether you are a "Boogara" or a "Shaniac".
