I Like Your Laugh | Chanyeol
Eavesdropping and people watching are two of your all time favourite activities. You don’t necessarily tell people you do it because they’d call you a weirdo and all the works, so it’s become a secret hobby of sorts.
You’d been on a bench in the local park. One of benches those that have an identical one on the opposite side. As per usual, you had your earphone plugged in, not listening to music but just mindlessly scrolling through your feed.
“Kyungsoo, you’d never guess what happened,” A voice says from behind you. The person had sat on the bench behind yours. Instinctively, you pulled one earbud out of your ears. “Oh my god. I don’t know what I’m gonna do.”
This was going to be a good one.
“I’m calm, just listen to me,” he said, sounding anything short of calm. “I was coming out of the shops and I was in the elevator, just looking at my phone. Then comes this mother and daughter, they’re not far but I can see they’re walking towards the lift too.”
You had to resist turning around.
“They start walking quick cause they know the lifts about to close, but I was all like I’m a good guy, I couldn’t just let the door close on them. So I hold my hand on the button, smiling at them like a fucking idiot, and they’re walking fast but-” He stopped as though collecting himself. “I can’t even finish it.”
Your eyes widened, what did he mean he can’t finish it? This was about to be the best story you’d overhead in a while.
“Fine! So, they’re picking up the pace and the mother is smiling at me like, ‘wow, here I was thinking chivalry was dead’, but then the doors just slowly close just as they’d reached me. ” He said. “Kyungsoo…I had my had on the close door button the whole fucking time! Fuck, the look she gave me.”
You slapped your hand over your mouth but still you couldn’t do much to stifle the snort that poured out from your mouth. When that snort escaped, the flood gates had opened, and the laughs came barrelling one after the other. Then you remebered where you were and the fact that the strangers head was right behind yours.
“Kyungsoo, just hold on,” He said.
You could tell he’d turned around and was staring at your back as it shook with laughter. You kept your eyes on your phone, never daring to look up.
“Your laughs sounds nice,” he said.
