HOSHINO KATSURA'S LIVE STREAM (21/09) English sum-up
Hello 😊
As you may know, Hoshino-sensei made an Instagram live on September, 21th, to speak about the upcoming fan event in November.
As the live show lasted more than two hours, I won't make a full transcript of it, but I'll sum it up quickly in English.
I have divided my sum-up in three sections : about D.Gray-man, about the event and others (random TMI).
Hoshino-sensei explained how the event would take place, and also answered some questions. Overall, she looked very healthy and happy, which is good to see!
(a bit of a long post, I'd advise you to read the D.Gray-man part (I) and the TMI part (III) )
I. ABOUT D.GRAY-MAN
For the upcoming chapters (spoilers ahead!)
-Someone asked about Debit and she answered: "Fans who like Debit should better read the next chapter in October"
-About Lavi : "I'm really sorry for Lavi fans, please wait a little longer, I am myself waiting for him. But, just wait a little longer, you'll see. If I could hang out with him, I would take him to a Japanese BBQ so he could eat a lot, it would be my way to apologize to him."
-About Kanda and Lenalee : "Please wait for Lenalee as well...I can't say much but you'll see...When we follow Kanda...you'll see Kanda and Lenalee being...I can't say more" (she voluntarily censored herself here)
Other questions
-Who is the Heart ? "You obviously know that I CAN'T tell you"
-What is love? I want to show this in my manga. This probably the thing I won't never forget"
-About the covers: "My editors are always like "please draw Kanda!", I think Kanda is very popular within the staff...but I want to draw other characters. And when I drew Lavi for the RISE cover, it got a very good reception, so I was allowed to draw Lenalee for the next cover. I know a lot of you like Kanda, and my editors too, but I want to give spotlight to other characters as well." Will Tyki get a cover ? "hmmmm I wish to, yes. I think it will eventually happen. My real wish is for the Earl or Wisely to get a cover, but it seems pretty impossible."
II. ABOUT THE FAN EVENT
This was the main part of the live.
This event will be a two events in one : a fan meeting, and then a sign event. It will take place on November, 5th at Ikebukuro Animate.
There will be only 100 people selected. And no more, sadly.
There won't be a surprise announcement at the end of the event, or anything of the sort. The reason she wanted to organise this event is because she is moving to Kobe next year, so it was goingt to be her last event in Tokyo.
Unfortunately, the event WON'T BE LIVESTREAMED, so she asks for the fan selected to take notes and to share them on Twitter and on Instagram. A special tag will be created so fans can read what has been said !
THE FAN MEETING
The first part will be a fan meeting of nearly two hours. It will take place with the 100 people selected, Hoshino herself and her editor, Mister K.
Unlike the other events she organised, she wants this event to be participating: she doesn't want to be the only speaking. So the event will take place this way :
-the 100 selected fans will have to answer a small questionary before coming to the event. They will be asked about their favourite scene in the manga. The scene can be a very famous one, or just one they like.
-Hoshino Sensei will projet the selected scenes on a screen and will comment them. Fans will be able to ask questions directly.
-She would be happy of the people who came to the event wore a distinctive sign to show their favourite characters.
-Cosplays are of course allowed
-You can bring your favorite character's goodies
-You can wear your favorite character's color (Blue for Kanda, orange for Lavi, etc.)
-If you like everyone, you can just bring pen lights (like at an Idol concert) and change their colours
Anyways, she wants to know everyone's favourite characters, and she really look forward fan's active participation in the event, she really wants to hear everyone's opinions.
THE SIGN EVENT
You'll be able to speak during two or three minutes with her.
She will have prepared a special illustration where she draws her sign, so no need to bring anything.
She will write your name (the one you asked, it can be a fan name or your real name)
She accepts hugs, handshakes and or high-touch, whatever the gender (she doesn't mind being hugged by a male fan)
You'll be able to give her letters or gifts directly, if you have some !
III. RANDOM TMI (just random infos
-She doesn't like banana so if you bring a present, no banana-taste food!
-She is not interested in "alcohol, cigarette, games and men" (!) specifically in that order..
-She has never met Togashi-sensei (lol)
-She gave her authorization to have her name used in Jujutsu kaisen last year
-She likes Starbucks, Hoshino Coffe, MacDonald, and Coco Ichi (a curry restaurant in Japan)
-She likes Araki-sensei from JoJo
-She has never been to England or Scotland so all the landscapes are from pictures on the internet
-She would not hang out with Kanda as they think they would no get along
-She thinks Krory's fans have the greatest taste❣️
-She can't speak English but she reads all the comments
So yes, that's all for this sum-up ! Thank you for reading all of this ! I'm actually wondering if I should translate the first 20 minutes of the live where she answers fan questions because it was really fun and full of crispy small details (for instance, are Kanda's foot smelly ???) So yeah, maybe !
