it is so incredibly sad to constantly see kids on instagram and tiktok who are younger than my brother have to literally beg for shelter, food, water, medicine, and their right to exist as human beings
i mean, this young girl is only ten years old, yet she is essentially responsible for convincing random people scrolling through instagram that her and her family’s life are worth fighting for
on top of that, their gofundme is not even 10% funded and time is running out, please if you can’t donate, just share
please don’t let this little girl die begging

I thought I'd put together some things those of us based in Aotearoa can do in support of Palestine. (Updated as of 2/12)
Follow Aotearoa based organisations
Palestinian Solidarity Network Aotearoa (Facebook/Instagram). PSNA's website is a really great place to start, as it has plenty of resources and links to regional groups and other groups which support Palestinian rights. You can also sign up for their newsletter to keep updated.
Palestinian Youth Aotearoa (Facebook/Instagram)
Aotearoa Liberation League
Other Instagram accounts: @/muslimyouth.society, @/dayenunz, @/palestinian.id, @/just4pal (Pōneke based).
Sign (and share) petitions
Sign PSNA's petition to close the Israeli Embassy.
Sign PYA's petition for the New Zealand Government to demand an immediate ceasefire.
Sign PSNA's petition for an urgent parliamentary study to review Israel’s treatment of children in Israeli occupied Palestine and compliance with its obligations under the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.
Sign this petition calling the government to deem Israeli actions against Palestinian civilians as war crimes
Sign this petition for the creation of a special visa for Palestinians in Gaza who have family members in NZ
You can also sign these two international petitions: Amnesty, Avaaz
If you're an Aotearoa based artist, there are two letters you can sign: Aotearoa Artists 4 Ceasefire, and Artists for Ceasefire (two different letters by the same name).
If you're a Māori health professional, you can sign the Māori Doctors in Solidarity with Palestine open letter.
If you're a student/staff member/alumni of a university in Aotearoa, you can sign this open letter to university vice chancellors calling for our universities to stand in solidarity with Palestine.
If you're a Christian, you can sign this open letter by Christians for Peace in Palestine.
Write to MPs
Write to Luxon and Hipkins. PSNA has a page with an email template you can use.
Write to your electorate MP. United for Palestine is a really handy Whatsapp community where you can join a group chat for your electorate and you'll get email templates to be emailed to your MP and to other relevant MPs. (Only group admins can message, so you don't need to worry about spam.)
Justice for Palestine also has a guide to letter writing to MPs that is linked at the bottom of this page
Show up
Rallies and vigils are being held every weekend all over the country. Details for when and where are on the PSNA's Facebook events page. (There should also be info on the Instagram accounts listed above)
If you're in Ōtautahi, there are vigils being held on Wednesdays at the Bridge of Remembrance at 7:30. Bring some kai if you can.
Boycott
The BDS movement has called for a boycott of these companies active in Aotearoa: AXA, Puma, HP, Siemens, Ahava, Sodastream, RE/MAX, Pampers, Obela, and Israeli produce (this list is from BDSNZ and BDS Movement). BDS also encourages additional boycotts of McDonalds, Pizza Hut, Burger King, and Domino's Pizza.
Halal Kiwi is a useful app that has a list of brands in Aotearoa that support Israel (note that not all the brands listed are officially part of the BDS boycott)
Read more about BDS and what to boycott here.
While you boycott, you can also buy Palestinian goods through Preserved Identity, an Aotearoa-based and Palestinian-run social enterprise.
Divest
If you have a Kiwisaver and/or have your money in any other investment fund, check what your provider invests in, even if you use an "ethical" fund. Mindful Money is a great tool for checking and comparing how ethical the fund you use is. (It's also just a really good exercise in knowing what your money is going to)
"Ethical" providers such as Simplicity and Pathfinder may still have holdings that contribute to the genocide. Email and put pressure on these providers to review their investments, make a public statement, and divest. Simplicity has already divested from three Israeli banks due to public pressure.
Check if your bank is investing in Israel and ask them to divest as well. You can do the same with other banks (this generates customer inquiry tickets on the subject of divesting in Israel)
Educate yourself. Some good places to start are Decolonize Palestine and Palestine Academy (which has a really easy video based course), but keep reading, and keep critically thinking about what you're reading.
This is just a collection of things I'm aware of, but if anyone has anything to add/correct please feel free. I'll be editing this post as things pop up, so please reblog the original post. Ngā mihi to those of you who have added additions!
