Not too long ago, Krista from Skinny Hooker Creations asked me if I could make a sample shawl using her yarns, for her to take to markets. Obviously, I said yes!
Krista’s yarns are beautiful. Of all the dyers I know, I can gladly say she’s one of my favourites – everything she puts out is so fantastic. If you like bright, beautiful colours and perfect speckles, you’re going to love her stuff! She also has really funny stitch markers and some beautiful patterns as well.
The shawl she wanted was Katie’s Shawl by Cozy Up Knits, done in two colours: Punk Rock Diva and Purple Bubblegum
YOU GUYS.
Look at how this turned out!
Tumblr media
(And of course there’s my three year old photo-bombing haha!)
This shawl has such beautiful details – the eyeball stitch, the varying stripes, and (probably my favourite parts) the i-cord and slip stitch edges!
The colour possibilities on this are endless, so I can definitely see myself making another one in the future. I love it! It was apparently well-loved at the fibre show Krista went to this weekend as well, which makes me so happy!
Tumblr media
How great are these colours? I maaaaaay be planning to make a little something for myself in Purple Bubblegum, and I’m also currently working on an incredible pair of socks using some more Skinny Hooker yarn in similar colours! I’m a little bit obsessed.

May the Fourth Be with You: Star Wars Double Knit Scarf
May the Fourth Be with You: Star Wars Double Knit Scarf
I. Finished. It!
On Star Wars day last year, I started my Star Wars Double Knit Scarf.
Last night at about 12:30 at night, I finished knitting and weaving in the ends! This morning I fixed my lettering mistakes with duplicates, and made a fringe, and it was officially DONE!
I haven’t measured exactly how long it is, but it turned out to be the PERFECT length for me.

March 8: Star Wars Double-Knit Scarf
March 8: Star Wars Double-Knit Scarf
I finished the largest section on my Star Wars scarf!
Tumblr media
The Millennium Falcon/Death Star section took me eleven hours to complete, but I’m honestly pretty impressed at it. I think I’m getting pretty good at this double knitting thing! It’s certainly tedious, but the final product is really great.
The Death Star is the start of the second half, so I’m just over halfway finished. I really want to…

February 28: Briar Bunny
February 28: Briar Bunny
Tumblr media
About three years ago I made my first Briar Bunny.
I started making them because it seemed like everyone was having babies and I just did not have time to make blankies for all of them, you know? So I figured I’d try my hand at a stuffed animal, something equally as special, something that could definitely be a keepsake and could not be outgrown the way clothing does. I love to give special baby…

February 22: Chevron Baby Blanket
February 22: Chevron Baby Blanket
Yesterday I started a new Chevron Baby Blanket!
Now, normally I really like to design baby blankets myself, but the recipient of this one was thinking of something multi-coloured. I have made a chevron baby blanket before, so when she told me she wanted something to match with orange it was the first thing that came to mind.

When my friend told me she wanted orange, I instantly thought of…

February 22: Skinny Twists Toque Test
February 22: Skinny Twists Toque Test
I finished my Skinny Twists test knit!
Tumblr media
Pretty great, right? I really love the little twisty faux cables, the uneven real cables, and how the cables continue to work up through the decreases (it’s like my favourite thing when hat patterns do that).
The pattern has not been released yet, but I’ll be sure to update this when it has!
The yarn is Caron Simply Soft in neon green (and yes, it really is

February 15: Skinny Twists Toque Test
Tumblr media
Remember how I’ve mentioned that I really enjoy doing pattern tests? Well, right now I actually have two on the go!
My incredibly talented friend Krista, from Skinny Hooker Creations, asked me to test her pattern, so of course I had to say yes! I love testing friends’ patterns the most, honestly. As soon as I saw the toque she wanted tested, I thought of this amazing neon green from my stashand I…

February 14: Strawberry Blossoms Test
February 14: Strawberry Blossoms Test
Tumblr media
I haven’t posted in a while. I’m sorry about that. Honestly, I feel really weighed down by things lately… really stressed out, on edge, and gloomy. I blame winter, mainly. But I keep forgetting to get on here and post. Hopefully things will improve a bit soon, so I can get back on track with everything!
Luckily, though, my knitting has not really taken a hit. When I get stressed out like this, I…

January 11: Vanilla Spice Socks KAL
January 11: Vanilla Spice Socks KAL
I love knitting socks. I love making things designed by my friends. And I love when I have time for knit-alongs.
This month my amazingly talented friend Nicole from Woolfield Studio is hosting a KAL of her Vanilla Spice socks. I haven’t made myself a pair of socks for too long, and I have such beautiful sock yarns in my stash, so I had to get in on it.

I’m kind of in love with that little faux…

January 10: Temperature Blanket
January 10: Temperature Blanket
I know, it’s 2019 now. I know, I’m still working on my 2018 temperature blanket. And yes, I’m all the way back in May on it still. It’s okay, I swear.
In my travels around the internet, I’ve seen a lot of people say they sort of let their temperature blankets get neglected and I swearthat hasn’t happened here. I did stop working on it for probably most of December, to focus on deadlines, but…

January 4: Star Wars Double Knit Scarf
January 4: Star Wars Double Knit Scarf
Tumblr media
Last week I picked up a project I hadn’t touched since early October: my Star Wars double knit scarf.
I had been struggling with the wording section on it, and had tried to redo it maybe three times and kept making the same mistake. Double knitting in general was fiddly to get the hang of, but the wording section, which was an addition made by PokemonPurl, was something I found especially…

Happy New Year!
Sorry for the lack of posting, I’ll admit that December as a whole was just really tough for me, and I let a lot of things go. But, now it’s January, it’s a new year, and things can get back to normal. No more knitting deadlines, no more temporarily abandoned projects. It’s time to get back to all of my personal projects and be a whole lot less stressed about everything overall.

November 1: Classic Cabled Mittens
November 1: Classic Cabled Mittens
Last week (and a bit) was a total write-off for me for knitting. I don’t know why, but everything I started or worked on just did. Not. Work. It was so frustrating! The whole week-ish felt like a total waste of time because I didn’t make any progress on anything.
One of the things I started during that horribly awkward time was a pair of mittens for one of my friends at work. This particular…

Two weeks ago, a very good friend’s oldest kid started chemo. So, naturally, I’m making him some hats. I started out with something simple I could whip up quickly, so he could have one to start the collection, and then I’ll do some more fun things from there.
Yesterday I finished a Color-Tipped Blossom Beanie from Churchmouse Yarns. I had a great Cascade 220 Superwash Sport in Checkers in my stash, and his favourite colour just happens to be red, so I figured a stockinette beanie in that yarn would be a perfect place to start!
Obviously I didn’t do the contrast colour edge, though I may have to do one like that as well. The colour-pooling worked out perfectly, don’t you think? My almost-3 year old has requested one for himself too, because his favourite colour is also red.
I hope my friend’s kid loves this beanie, and I can’t wait to get started on the other ones I have planned!

So, I’m pretty far behind on my blanket, honestly. It’s August and I’ve just finished April 20th. But I mean, it’s a queen sized blanket and it’s made of worsted weight yarn… each day’s stripe takes about a half hour. So as long as I’m working on it regularly I should finish by like, next June. I’m not going to neglect it, so it’ll get done eventually.
I did, however, have the pleasure of FINALLY adding a new colour to it. Winter this year lasted foreeeeeeever, so I’m so happy to finally have a new addition to my blanket!
Tumblr media
Also! Over the long weekend we went to Fernie, where I of course had to seek out yarn stores. Whenever we go to a place, I always look for two things: yarn stores and thrift stores. AND GUESS WHAT? In Fernie, I found Heaven Boutique, which is BOTH. Literally heaven.
It was really hard to pick just one thing to buy (my yarn budget was not very high that day) but I chose this beautiful Manos del Uruguay Alegria Grande in Carnaval. It’s just so PINK, it’s perfect! I was thinking it might grow up to be mittens, but I remembered I have some wonderful bright pink faux fur pom-poms, so if they match the yarn nicely I might have to do a hat. For now, it’ll have a home in my yarn stash!

August 1: I’m a Little Crabby

Hello everyone, happy August!
Sorry I have been a bit absent lately. Honestly I’ve just been pretty exhausted, so when I’m not working I’m just kind of taking it easy. But, I’m back, for now anyway. We’re going away this weekend and then we have a pretty busy week next week, so I might be away from here again. We’ll see!
A little while ago I was scrolling through dish cloth patterns on Ravelry…
